When Airbnb rents something out that had someone in it right before we walked in the door and then refused to help us transfered us 4 times on 3 calls and you offer us 24 cents per person to go to a coffee shop and wait while you try and get ahold of him. 2 hours after we reached out to him with no response an hour and a half after the first time you said give us an hour to get ahold of him. Just shows all that matters to you is your bottom line!
Our last two reservations through airbnb were cancelled. We book way in advance to ensure we get a house that is suited for our large family. Our initial reservation for Thanksgiving in 2020 was cancelled and then the host relisted the home at a higher rate. We reserved a home for 2021 Christmas and this was cancelled a month beforehand. Now there is very limited inventory and what is left that will suit our family is very expense. Essentially the host can cancel at any time without consequence (airbnb has it's remedies, but they are without any teeth). I would expect a good company to make it right, but airbnb doesn't do that. Our Christmas is now ruined as we can't get our entire family together. It appears airbnb caters only to the host since that is where the money comes from and the renter is completely expendable.
Worst site... was an unpleasant experience to rent an apartment. After that, I leave an honest review, which the administration removed for unknown reasons. The conclusion is do not trust reviews from this site
Beware of fees! Booked three nights and had to change reservation. Now, a $170 night reservation ($510) has cost $120 in AirBNB fees. Will never book through this agency again and will avoid hosts that utilize this service.
Host switched the room on us and gave us really bad room compare to the charges. We even bought the Airbnb insurance to make sure this does not happen. Airbnb did nothing and suppressed our complaint. It was like talking to a Airbnb lawyer when out complaint passed the "level 1" support. They hung up on us and told us that there is nothing they can do. Ruined our entire vacation. Never doing Airbnb again! Never!
They accept any vendor and don't check cleanliness or stability so you could make a reservation and find once you arrived that there was no room or they had closed or moved.
Be careful who u pay in advance and who you give your credit card number to!
My host was great and the place was even better that I rented. I had unfortunate circumstances and had to cancel my reservation. Airbnb took an extra 1,300 out of my account after I have already paid for the entire month in advance. Per the host, the money didn't even go to him. Airbnb took it. Well, Airbnb was shady with it and said I needed the "ok" from the host to receive it back. Even after he agreed, support told me he didn't agree and therefore I would not see my money. Thankfully the host was very determined to get my refund for me and was talking with support for the whole day. Be cautious if you need to cancel. They'll try taking your money!
Reserved apartment was extremely dirty and didn't respond to advertisement and reviews. Airbnb asked if i want to cancel reservation. I confirmed and they changed me with full amount. 2 days of international calls and asking for help - to return money, to give new apartment, at least to give me back this one as i have no more money. But they only treated me in rude manner and advised to ask host for money.
Does anyone get these "star reviews"? They are misleading and frustrating for the host. My guests say all nice things in the review but give me less than 5 stars in each category. Never saying what the problem is... and i get upset with AirBnB's rubbing my face in it that my reviews are less than 5 stars, but the guests comments are not supporting the star reviews they give me. I dont know what future guests will make of the compliments in my reviews but then when they see the star ratings, they'll wonder what is going on... AirBnB needs to get rid of these stupid star reviews! And I give them 1 star as a result!
As a host, I'm very satisfied with Airbnb. I believe that feature of hosts giving reviews to guests (not just the other way around) somehow attracted the best possible guests. Those who don't care about how the host will feel about them just don't use Airbnb - who would want to have public internet profile with bad things about themselves.
The bad side of Airbnb is that don't really seems to care about hosts problems, bugs in their web pages or other problems that a host can experience. Response is slow or non-existent.
Made a three night reservation for a total cost of over $900 and my credit card was charged. Then the "host" advised that the home would cost $164 more. As a result, I cancelled the reservation but Airbnb intends to keep my $101 service fee even though the reservation was cancelled within a couple of hours after it was made. I will fight this to the end of my life and my strong advice is to stay away from these crooks.
Our vacation rental property has driven more than $100,000 to date into Airbnb coffers. We had earned all 5-star reviews for 5 years until we had one unfortunate double-booking and had to cancel a guest reservation well in advance of their stay. All of a sudden Airbnb took away our Superhost status and has made it very difficult to restore. A single mistake! And the fact that we've been given a 4.99 rating for one "revenge review" and can apparently never make it to 5 stars again. Talk about biting the hand that feeds you. Airbnb is the poster child of GREED! VRBO has been a much more reasonable partner. I wish there was more competition in the vacation rental platform space. Stay tuned. I may start one.
I used Airbnb in Porto Portugal in Dec. 2024. I paid $1,077.60 for a reservation. Later I cancelled my reservation, and they kept the money. Disputed this with my credit card company. The response from Airbnb saying I didn't cancel. I sent proof from my account showing that I did cancel and would refund the money, but I never got a refund but was told that I now have a credit for further use. This was just one of 3 cases where they took my credit card and charged thousands of dollars without authorization. Stay away from Airbnb.
I'll never use AirBnB again. Booked a room 17 days ahead of the stay just to have it cancelled by the host two days before the trip with just an email notification. No phone notification. How are they allowed to cancel that late just because they don't feel like hosting someone? We got there and didn't have a room. Never again.
This is possibly the worst decision you can make. Good luck, you will need it with the appalling customer service and safety. Stay away from Airbnb. They are wrong on soamy levels I don't know where to begin to be honest. Extremely bad company
Spent $6,700 for a one week rental of a 4 bedroom home managed by Bella Vita. Mice, mold, broken outdoor furniture, playset and deck with hole in it. Malfunctioning refrigerator, vaccum cleaner and disposal. With no options, I chose working with the management company. No resolution. Airbnb offers not recourse and lacks any quality control. BEWARE. Once you rent, you are stuck!
Apparently, a snow storm that affected half a continent is not "Act of God" enough for Airbnb's full refund policy. With the airlines cancelling flights and power outages, I guess I should have figured out how to walk to my destination. Just an awful company. I've received full refunds from everyone but this company.
Long story short:
-Air BnB allowed a fraudulent link to be placed within there site
-As a result we have lost money
-Escelation process took 3 months to get a resolution. Customer service was terrible during.Or lack off
-Was then advised it was our fault for not being careful
-Due to this they refuse to take responsibility and pay up
Read reviews on Google and scroll through other posts on this page. This is not a good company to deal with.
Use them at your own risk!

I've been using the page for a while. Never had any issues after booking confirmation.
Sometimes hosts cancel but you can't blame Airbnb for that. Money is always returned within minutes.
Pros: Available everywhere, easy to book, funds protection
Cons: Can be a bit pricey in some cities (2x hotel price) yet very cheap in others.
In general I recommend Airbnb to everyone. Great alternative to hotels and money stays within local community :)
"very poor customer support; had a very frustrating experience during the sign-up, verification, and attempted booking. My booking was confirmed and taken by someone else because the verification process failed multiple times without clear explanation on how to fix it (even after calling support lines twice, I wasn't helpfully assisted at bloody all).
If you have an alternative, you should definitely go with that."
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
Airbnb has a rating of 1.4 stars from 2,085 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Airbnb most frequently mention customer service, credit card and full refund. Airbnb ranks 442nd among Hotels sites.
