I have been with ADT for years now. We recently did an upgrade for their new "Control" system; fast talked into it by a sales lady that lies better than any rug I have ever owned, and now I have equipment that will not work with this new system, rendering it useless to my family. ADT wants me to spend almost another $1000 to purchase all of these new items to be compatible with their new system when I was told that everything would transfer over. The poor young gentleman that came to install this upgrade for us tried his best, and had a hard time, but simply could not make the old equipment speak to the new control panel. I tried to rescind my new contract the following day, and spoke to more than a dozen people, because I passed from person to person, and NO ONE could/would help me! What a load of CRAP! This is how they treat long term customers. The Property Brothers should be ashamed to put their faces and names with ADT. Get your security system from someone else. ADT has unscrupulous businesses practices with employees that lie and can give two hoots about trying to help you with any problems.
It is very difficult to cancel service even with a confirmation # provided by ADT
They will continue to bill your credit card after the 30 day notice and continue to give you lip service as to why it hasn't been cancelled
So please be aware before you sign a contract and see if they can bill you monthly instead of charging your credit card
I just wrote a message on here regarding ADT a week fees ago regarding selling my home. ADT did not want to cancel my services telling me I still had to pay etc. Keep in mind, I no longer own that home and have moved an hour away. After posting on here I received a response that everything was going to be taken care of with the closing of the account. A week later my monitoring payment came out my account. Today the installment amount came out my account. I login into the account to see what's going on, they gave me a late fee. What the f*** is really going on with this crooked a** company. I have had tons of mail invites come to my new home with third party company's partnered with ADT. I can not associate with any company that affiliated with these scammers. Prior to seller a Rep reached out telling me that they'll she was my account Specialist and she would help me transfer my services, h*** no after I tried to cancel within 60 days or less and they were holding me responsible. The audacity to give me a late fee is just miserable, I don't pay my bill late and they took my money and it does not belong to them. I want my funds release or farther actions will be taken. I no longer reside in that home where the services are being paid. I no longer own that home. I am not associated with that home. Give me my money and leave the alone!
I left 5 stars but the installer wasn't really clear on anything. Next day I had a problem installer said he'd be here in 5 minutes. I'm still waiting
They make is simple to sign up, but impossible to cancel. They raised my price twice despite having a fixed price contract. Be prepared for 2-3 hours on hold!
I was very impressed when a young man about 10-12 years of age knocked on my door and told me what he offered was free. The free was the yard sight saying my home was protected by ADT. Soon his father showed up with a contract. The contract was for 2 years, not too bad, and required checking information for auto payments. I had many technical problems with some of my equipment. The on hold time was excruciating, often over an hour. Most solutions were the typical "Do it Yourself." All of this is typical for this kind of company. My problem came when I called ADT to find out when my contract was over. I told them I would not be renewing because of the broken equipment, nothing happened to the equipment it just quit working, and lack of customer support. I paid my final bill. They continued to take money out of my account. I called again and was told that they have an automatic renewal policy. I informed him that I had spoken to customer service about 3 weeks before my contract was up and informed them that I Would Nor be renewing. He informed me that the request had to be in writing, a detail the previous customer service agent failed to tell me when I specifically told him I would not be renewing. I put it into writing and they continued to keep taking money from my account. I called customer service again and was told the request to stop service had to be submitted in writing at least a month in advance. I of course had switched companies so for an entire year I got stuck paying two companies for the same service. I find this company very dishonest and poor customer service support.
ODear ADT, First, if you insist on charging clients who have had your system for over 20 YEARS, the cost of upgrading really OLD equipment, well, that is already BAD customer service. 2nd when a Virtual Call is 1 hour and 45 minutes late because of a "scheduling mix-up" that another big "no, no". Come on, you have saved so much in costs by hardly offering any human interaction,without reducing what you charge the customer, at least treat us like you value us. With competitors like RING, Arlo & a LOT of others, what is to keep me with you paying $45 a month? The only thing is the garage door sensor with Pulse that allows me to open the door. That's not a big enough reason. I am researching options as I type.
I have trouble with this company almost one year my system out of service since last year I contacted them more than 10 times and they are not solve my problems they just want to collect money fir nothing they do not produce any service for the customer

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES!
1) you will wait to speak to someone -sometimes hours
2) read the fine print! If you want to cancel, they charge you over $900 for a cancellation fee and over $1000 for the used equipment, even if it is not working properly! And even if you tell them you dont want it and to come get it.
3) if they take monthly payment from your bank account and you try to stop them from taking it through your bank, they can go in using a different code key and take it anyway!
4) one time when my alarm was going off, I waited 30 minutes on hold while my alarm blared in the background
5) once you cancel and they charge you over $1000 for the used equipment, and they tell you the equipment is yours, they lock you out of your own panel so that no other alarm company can come in and use the equipment you just paid them $1000+ for
This company doesn't deserve a 1 rating. If I can choose 0, I would. After months of back and forth telling them that our cameras didn't work, we finally got a technician came out to repair or replace the cameras. The technician came and told us that we will need to reschedule for another week and half because he didn't have a camera nor a ladder to do the work. They knew that our cameras didn't work. Why the heck didn't they bring a camera to repair or replacement? When I called in to escalate the repair since we had waited for so long, the customer service couldn't find our address on file. Our address is 1234 FM 423 (not a real address). The customer rep asked whether the FM is correct? She never heard of a street name FM. She then proceeded to transfer us to another customer service representative who couldn't help us either. We asked to talk to a supervisor to escalate the repair. Wait on the phone some more time and the supposed supervisor came online. She said that we called the wrong department. This is absolutely ridiculous and then transferred us to another customer representative. We are still on the phone waiting for answer. It had been about an hour. Such a waste of my time. Avoid this company at all cost.
At the time of installation, I was told if services are cancelled within the first calendar year, there would be no penalty. I moved forward with services for this reason as I would occupying the home for 10 months. My spouse is in the army and we are relocating sooner than expected. I called to cancel services. They are charging me nearly $4000. I requested my credit card information be removed from their files on 05/11/2023. On 05/15/2023, my credit card was charged over $1000. I don't argue financial responsibility. I question how do you charge my credit card when my information was removed. Does this not define an unauthorized charge? After being transferred from person to person, I'm told it takes 30 days for your credit card information to be removed from their system! What happened to me receiving a final bill! Ultimately, I wish I wouldn't have started services. It has turned out to be an expensive mistake! I would not recommend! The sad part is that USAA backs this company! Just buy your equipment and seek security services elsewhere!
How would we rate ADT security? -5 Would not be low enough. We had our system installed mid February 2022, and it was a nightmare from day one. Doorbell camera quit working the first day, then the real trouble started.We armed "away " the next 10-15 days when we went out to doctors, grocery, etc. 90 % of the time when we returned home and entered our home, no alarm went off.We should have heard "disarm system now "but instead we heard silence."Troubleshoot" number was called several times with the "all seems to be working properly". Then a tech came out and ran a few tests, "see no problem"was his reply. Then we called "troubleshoot" again to set up appointment for a tech to come remove all equipment, "District manager "will call you no later than Wednesday. Surprise, Surprise, no call. Called "troubleshoot" again, "district manager is in a meeting and will call you when he gets out". Surprise again, no call.So I did what I should have done before chest pains started, we called our Attorney! No way would we recommend this company! Guess what, after talking with our attorney, chest pains stopped! All we want is for the equipment to be removed and our money(almost $2400. Paid when installation was done) refunded. Money back guarantee? We will see. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ADT unless you desire lots of stress! We will warn all our friends and family that live in North Carolina of our experience with ADT, so hopefully they will not experience the stress and grief we have!
A man shows up in my neighboorhood offering Ring video survelliance tells me they are linked with ADT. Okay fine! 3year contract. Fine okay! Signed 3/20/18. Signed! I moved and was told, I cant cancell cause this was before 3yr contract but i can transfer to my new residence. I said fine lets transfer. I was not told that transferring services will start everything all over!. The ring equipment and ADT app has never worked and has delays! I will never go with this company again! If you as a consumer wants to consistently be locked into contracts with Shawty equipment go for what you know! But I have seen NO VALUE IN ADT

I wish I could give this company 0 stars or less. If there's a problem with any of your equipment, they want YOU to fix it and they're hesitant to send out a tech. When they do send out a tech they want to charge you for every petty thing they do. They overcharge for their crappy equipment, the customer service is terrible (I sat on hold for 3 hours today), if you actually liked their service (yeah, right) and you're going to relocate, well you're going to have to sign a new agreement because you can't move their equipment from one house to another. They're terrible with people, talk to you like you're stupid when you're actually able to speak to someone, they overcharge, and their equipment messes up constantly - all that makes them undependable and the ONLY thing you want from an alarm company is dependability. Use your money for something better.
First off, customer service is an absolute joke. If I could…negative stars.
Called to have a camera installed over our garage. Guy on the phone said upfront charge is $99, nothing due on day of installment, and $99 added extra for the next three months to cover rest of equipment NOT including the upcoming billing cycle. Cool. Paid the $99 upfront. Guy came to install two days later and when he was done asked how were we paying. We told him what the guy on the phone said and he just laughed and said no it doesn't work that way. And continued to insist we pay now. We paid. Upcoming billing cycle (8 days later) we got charged an extra $109 (cause apparently taxes were not included at first). So basically, we paid over $300 out of the total $400 in the first 10 days of the billing cycle when we were not planning on doing so. Thankfully we have the money to pay that much unexpectedly, but not everyone will have that luxury. If you call the customer service with any problem, they will always…ALWAYS…hangup on you without resolving the issue. Next five years are going to be rough.
I purchased a home in 2020 and wanted to put a security system in place, i. E. doorbell, rear deck, window sensors, and module. I had no issues with the young man who sold me the contract nor the technician who installed all the equipment and that's where the 1 star comes into play in every other facet of this company. I've had 4 technicians come to my house due to issues with the doorbell camera and all 4 recommended replacing the unit as the firm no longer sells it. ADT refuses to do so. Their instructions for equipment failures are moot. Their Customer Service is a 30 minute hold with someone who doesn't know the process to correct the issue and then it's round robbin getting passed between departments. I doubt it's your employees, most likely their training and $#*! executives like we see with almost every company nowadays. Bought a ring unit, 4 cameras w/ lights, doorbell, sensors, and module for almost half the ADT contract and had no issue installing it on my own. Save yourself the money and do it yourself with Ring.
Very poor business like I said sent me a router that did not work the 1st time got a second router same thing got 2 cameras oh cameras oh you have to take the batteries out to charge them the things that I stuck on the doors and windows which I clean the surfaces fell off and they charge me for something that I don't even have working I tried to get out of the contract and the guy got very rude with me and says well I can charge you the $1000 why am I being charged for anything when you've sent me bad equipment I will be calling the Better Business Bureau because I do not want any of this stuff
Received wrong products, spent one month trying to get ahold of someone to send Back, always being told that's not my department. Still have products and nothing
I've been on the phone with these people all morning for 2 hours! I kept getting switched to a new person every call and it seemed like nobody wanted to help me. There very unorganized and not professional at all! I willNEVER GO BACK TO ADT! I DO NOT RECOMMEND
