When a company locks you in for 3 years... RUN! Just the mechanics of ADT are pitiful and inconsistent. The camera works... sometimes. Why do I care if my next door neighbor drives out of the garage when I cannot get an activity reading of people approaching my home or in FRONT of my own garage? The real time camera works... sometimes. And Sometimes is the most frequent time next to not working at all. The quality of the sevice quickly degrades within the first year. I'm just going to let it fade and change companies when my contract is up because just to get a tech to talk to you... not fix anything... is upwards of $50. Warn your family and friends. RUN... don't walk... away from ADT.
I would not give them 1 star. They are some cold hearted crooks that try to take your money! They bounce you around from one customer service rep to another so they can wait you out. Customer Sales Rep are unknowledgeable about customers account or at least they try to act like the are. Supervisors and Reps sounds like loan sharks with no hearts. Find another company to service your home. I'm getting Vivint to buy them out hopefully they won't be nothing like these Crooks.
The previous owners had ADT and I chose another company. So I have to listen to this clicking noise the system makes all throughout the day until their cancellation date. They have long contracts and you get stuck in them - sometimes other people like me get stuck too! I have been listening to this noise for a month! I have to temporarily disarm the system every time it does it which customer service informed of. It does it at 4:30 a.m.! I do not have a passcode and the system makes the noise whenever it gets ready. I'm lost behind the logic. Customer service is rude and confused about policies. I just want the system removed from my home which I had to send in paperwork that I was the owner now. It is an older system with holes and wires going through my wall. They will not remove it. Yet, I have to wait until the cancellation date and call again so they will tell me how to power the system down. I shopped around and chose another company. I would not recommend ADT to my enemy!
I have been a customer for over 14 years and recently wanted to get ADT for my elderly Mom. The sales person was rude at times, gave inaccurate information just to make a sale in my opinion and now I've been trying to fix all the issues, and have been switched from person to person, discounted with no call back even through they stated they would call me back. I have never had this experience with ADT and would not go with ADT as a new customer based on all these issues. I've spent over 4 hours between sales and trying to get all the issues resolved and I'm still not done. They need to train their employees to gave accurate information, call back when they say they will and work harder to support long time customers.
Do not expect to get help with customer service. They will either put you on hold or hang up on you just to not deal with the problem. Spoke with a lady and she was extremely rude, impatient, and just hung up on me after waiting on the line for almost 40 min. Waste of time and money.
I have been an ADT customer for over five years. I would never recommend them. We had a CO sensor fail at 5 am one morning. First ADT said they would send me a replacement sensor, then said they had to send someone to replace it. Then this service call would cost $60, the technician said that it would be an additional $100 for a replacement for the failed sensor. AT least six representatives told me that the charge would be removed but it was posted. An account manager told me that only an account manager can remove a charge, and to speak with one of these seems to always include at least 30 minutes on hold. We started looking for replacement options and discovered that we pay almost $30 per month for monitoring than new ADT customers and three times what ADT's competitors charge. What a rip-off.
ADT is the worst home security company. They can't be trusted. I am a disabled veteran and do not appreciate all the lies that ADT has been telling. They said they will send their technician to install equipment. When the tech came, he was in a adt vehicle wearing adt clothing. When I had an issue a fee weeks later, I was told that I had to pay for LVD Concepts Inc to come reconnect my back camera. I later found out that the tech from LVD Concepts was the one wearing adt clothing and driving an adt vehicle. I was totally unaware that another company was in my home. Please do your research and do not trust ADT. I am very disappointed in their lack of professional & dishonesty.
I installed ADT in my house, the rep assured me that i can take it anywhere i go in case i move because of the contract. 2 years later i moved to a different place, same thing another rep assured me we were only transferring the contract to the new address. I was very firm with this question because i knew the new address was temporary. After a year, when i called to cancel they said the second time was a brand new contract, i called the rep she said she never said that. I lost my job, end up with very low paying job, i am going thru a very tough time, ADT doesn't care, they keep calling as if I'm talking to the wall. Really don't know how to get out of it. I never missed a payment with anyone in my life. Now i don't know how to deal with this nightmare. To ADT couple of thousand dollars is nothing, to me it's food on my table.
I am pleased to say that I had a rep, Shuntria Matthews who was the best rep I have ever received help from. She helped me with an issue that I had been dealing with a door sensor for over a month. She went the extra mile by setting up an installation appointment so that J could receive a replacement sensor. Shuntria is what you would call a model employee who needs to hold a class to teach others how to treat loyal customers. Thank you Shuntria and your help was definitely appreciated!
Everything was fine until I moved. Since I've moved I haven't been able to get the hub to work. I've tried calling and canceling and have received no help. First call was told to call back during business hours. It was during business hours. Second time, after getting through the lengthy automated system, spoke with someone who said they'd transfer me. I was transfered and then hung up on. I tried the chat. I was apparently next in line and then 1st in line and then there were no representatives available to help me. They are very hard to reach if you want to cancel.
I had to have ADT come out on 5 separate occassions to look at my system. The system would not record and the ring door stop working. After the 5th time, I wanted to cancel my service. (Seems easy enough. If your equipment is not working as promised iI should be able to cancel) They told me, i would need to pay $2,700 the cost of the equipment that did not work, to get out of my contract. Beware of this company and i will NEVER use their system. I have already had 5 members of my family and friends cancel their service.
We had ADT for 18 years. The alarm went off accidentally and my husband called to say it was a false alarm. He gave her the right password but they called the police anyway. An officer broke into the house with a gun drawn. He demanded my husband's ID. We also discovered he broke three sprinkler heads. All unnecessary as he said the right password.
Recently ADT contacted us to upgrade the system constantly. We were out of town so could not have it upgraded. We were harassed with texts, calls, emails. I had to call several times to explain we were gone. We finally got home and they had a flyer hanging from our door. Nothing like advertising we were out of town! Also the upgrade would include putting the keypad in a different place above an outlet which would look awful with a cord hanging down from the keypad to the outlet.
We bought a simplysafe system we can control via an app. We should have left years ago!
12 year customer here that can attest to the rapid decline in the company as a whole. They are liars, thieves and will tell you ANYTHING just to get you off the phone. I have been lied to so many times in the last month that I have lost count. Do not expect their corporate team to do anything about it. Brittany in their Boca Raton (corporate office) is horrible. She does NOT need to be in anyone's corporate office dealing with anyone's customers. I caution anyone on dealing with ADT.
After being a loyal customer for 7 years, I recently moved. ADT is now charging $566.63 for the equipment I left behind. The new owner already agreed to take over the service, and while he was able to take over the service, the monthly equipment charge is not transferrable I was told. That makes no sense. They're having me pay for equipment that I'm not going to use. I called customer service and they didn't want to or were unwilling to help. Stay away from ADT.
I had Ackerman for 14 years and unfortunately they were acquired by ADT few moths ago, they increased what supposed to be guaranteed rate. I had no contract with ADT and my contract was fulfilled with Ackerman since I paid upfront for all my equipment years ago. I called ADT to cancel my service due to their horrible experience with their sales team to upgrade my system but fours weeks later no one got back to me! So I decided to go with different provider, they send me a bill for $851 claiming that my contract expires un 2024! I told the agent show me where I signed and accepted any terms! She told me that what you owed and have a good day and she hanged up!
I was offered the ADT system as an alternative to the Google Nest Secure.
Here are my thoughts regarding the ADT system:
1. Poor UI in the App and very buggy
2. Door/window open/close chime is very shrill and can't be changed.
3. The app starts off in a demo mode which is almost impossible to change instead of "just working" out of the box.
4. You can't return the device to ADT as the replacement choice is a "1way street" malicious business practices anyone?
After 30 years as an ADT customer I tried to cancel my account after being gifted a different system. I informed the call center rep that I there was nothing they could do to keep me as a customer since I had a family relationship with the new security provider. That was a courtesy I extended to them to expedite the cancellation. It was completely disregarded by the rep. She kept insisting that I was making a mistake, would not listen to my louder and louder pleas to "Please just cancel this account!" The simple request took 30 minutes on the phone to accomplish. So much for courteous help for a long-time customer. They only care about the cu$tomer who $tays with them. Over the years ADT has kept rising prices after the contract expires, forcing you to have to re-negotiate and get into a new 3 year contract to do it. That is always a pleasure--NOT. So avoid ADT in your house like you would avoid DDT around your house.
I was a long time ADT (12 years) subscriber. In the process of adding on to my home, the wired alarm system was cut. ADT wanted, at a minimum, $450 to reinstall it, changing to wireless. And increase my monthly fee to $52 on a three year contract. I told them to cancel my service, and they then charged me for an additional month! Simply safe is now my choice. By the way, ADT had no idea my system had even been cut.
I have had ADT for 1 plus years. The sales person told me I had a 1 years contract. It turned into a 4 year contract. I have had to call 3 to 4 times to fix my out door camera. If you forget your verbal password, you won't get a password reset for 5 to 10 business days of NO SERVICE. Do not choose them. It is a scam. By the way, don't let them tell you there will be a service charge on their equipment.
If they could have no stars they would! They tell lies, sell you terrible product and the service and customer service suck! They even steal your money your on auto pay they take what ever amount they want to out on what day when you finally speak to someone their answer is we will credit your account! After their faulty equipment kept failing I canceled my service I prepaid month ahead they cut off my alarm system that night after being told I had a month, the same day I canceled my account at the bank because I am smart sure enough a month later they sent a statement saying this ( See attached) they tried stealing money out over and over starting the next day in amounts of over $ 1,200.00. This is illegal who wants to go in on a class action lawsuit against this place I am so tired of this company! Sounds like they have sucked alot of us!
Answer: Difficult to reach them and even more difficult to reach someone who can assist accurately. A lot of billing hassles.
