I have also been tricked into this. Spent more than 1 hour chatting with customer service and they changed the plan to a cheaper plan and gave me 3 free months. Anyhow ended up paying 12 dollars x 9 months to quit the service. In total a almost 200 dollars for a service i used once.
I wanted to try Adobe Stock for one month and was willing to pay 45$ (which is already quite expensive). When I tried to cancel my subsription after 3 weeks of use, Adobe Stock charges me 240$ just to cancel my plan! I never agreed to an annual plan. This is theft. I will never use this service again.
Life happens, I'm a busy person, and I accidentally forgot to cancel the free trial and only remembered when I saw the charge on my credit card almost a month later. I tried to cancel myself, but the system said I would be charged $164.95 for cancelling early. Outrageous. I wanted to cancel because I no longer need this account. I didn't even use this account past the free trial and forgot it existed until I saw the charge.
Therefore, I contacted customer service to explain my situation. Since these customer service reps are there to try to get you to stay, I was initially offered a discounted plan of $19.99/month and 3 free months. They make it sound like it's not possible to cancel without the giant fee and that this is the best they can do. I felt like I was being forced to pay for something I no longer need.
BUT it really isn't all they can do. If you are in the same situation as me, stand your ground and ask to speak to a supervisor and the representative will back off and suddenly cancel the whole thing without the gigantic fee. I think they are taught to only respond that way if they see the trigger words "I would like to speak to a supervisor".
It definitely took some teeth-pulling, but I was finally able to cancel the plan without the scam-like early cancellation fee, which I shouldn't be charged especially since I didn't even use the product past the trial period. The reason I didn't give 1 star is because I was able to cancel it in the end without fees.
I spoke to Rahul J today and he made my day with his fantastic customer service, friendliness, and professional manner. Other call center agents should adopt Rahul's way of working, well done.
I signed up for this service to get one photo for a cookbook. I did forget to cancel before the trial period ended but now that one photo cost me $359 because you get locked in for a year and have to pay a early cancelation fee. I don't even like the service.
I needed only one video for which I had to start a (trial) subscription. Subscription is now running for almost 40 USD a month and I cannot download any video without paying a lot of extra money. Feels like I have been ripped off big time
If you miss the window to cancel it will cost you over $200 to cancel early! Not only is it expensive, it's not a very user-friendly site. I use photoshop quite a bit and love it but this product is not worth the money... or the extra cancellation fee if life happens and you miss the deadline to cancel. If it was a great product, they wouldn't need to take money from people who don't want to use it.
Their annual subscription misled me to purchase and pay the whole thing, although I needed a handful of images. I moved to Dreamstime, where the annual plan is paid upfront. I don't use it, I prefer the monthly plan.
I some how was swept in to sign up for a free trial of adobe stock images which after 30 days started charging me $40AUD a month and signed my up for a year plan. Once I saw the first months payment come out of my bank I was of crap what is this and figured it out. I went o cancel it and it charged my another additional $200AUD to cancel the year subscription. I was and am still so mad as I am loyal Adobe customer that pays lots of money every month to use their services but this one I feel so scammed. I tried to ask for assistant in the situation but got nothing... I had absolutly no use of the adobe stock service and me accidentally signing up for a trial I didn't even use ended up costing my like $300 for absolute nothing but a heart ache. Dont do it!
Wish I read the reviews before agreeing to Adobe Stock's "free" trial. I experienced the same problems I see in a lot of other reviews: If you accidentally let the trial end, or even stay on for one month to see how you like it, you will get locked into and charged for an entire year. It's not month-to-month as you would expect, since they refer to it as your upcoming "monthly" payment or charge. Even if you do not use the service at all, they impose $164.95 cancellation fee, plus any month-to-month payments you've made at that point. To put salt in the wound, when I reached out to support, they gave me the runaround for an hour and then pointed to the "fine print" in their terms that deem the situation my fault, the obligation set in stone whether the customer finds any value whatsoever in their product or not. I did not. I ended up paying $200 for two fairly unremarkable clip art images that frankly, anyone could have done without. Infuriating.
Thought I was signing up monthly, but You will get locked into a year contract with an 80$ cancelation fee?!? When did being a consumer become a game of avoiding scams and tricks? I realize there have always been people out to get a buck, but it feels like the majority of subscription culture is out to set traps.
I'm a video producer and I spent a full day uploading edited video clips to Adobe. There was never a way to set a price for my videos, and after a week I gave up and closed my account.
Went to cancel my plan and they would not cancel my account and reimburse me for a pending charge. I haven't used adobe stock in months and kept forgetting to cancel. Called to cancel and they pulled some fine print BS out of their pocket and would not refund me for the service. Pretty sure that if you're unhappy with a service that that company should reimburse you. They're a joke and their chat section to talk to a rep SUCKS, its so hard to use. Complete garbage. This is a scam.
Adobe trying to scam me for $178 dollars like everybody else. I didn't realise I had signed for a year. Will never use an adobe product or service again. Canva is much better and honest.
The cancellation fee was €165. If someone wants a single image, why can't they charge a reasonable one-off fee. Never using them again and will tell all my contacts in the advertising industry to avoid them like the plague.
Signed up for a free trial for adobe stock for a school project. Without any email notice, they took my card on file and enrolled me in a one year plan. The charges went unnoticed for 4 months (I mistakenly thought they were for the creative cloud membership I actually purchased). When I wanted to cancel it, they wanted to charge me over $55 for early termination and tried to sell me on three months free subscription before it renewed again. They acted like they did me a favor by waving the termination fee, as if they didn't just steal over $100 from me... some high end conning Adobe. How is this legal?!?
I initially signed up for Adobe Stock after trying to find a reliable stock photo website. I figure since I use mostly Adobe programs, it was a no brainer: Use their stock photos. My main issues:
The Value: You have to pay $29.99/month to download 10 images. That's right. You are LIMITED to the amount of photos you can download per month DESPITE paying the monthly fee. I originally thought it was a mistake. And if you want to just switch to the credit based plan it's even MORE expensive. I'm paying you 30 dollars a month, why are you limmiting my downloads? And If you max out, you end up paying $2.99 per image. What's the point?
The Photos: While the vector based images were nice and seamlessly work with Adobe illustrator, everything else is lackluster and the library is small. You can find most of the images on Shutterstock for much cheaper as well.
User Interaction: Awful. Search for stuff and end up on videos/premiere photos. Save to a library that needs serious modification/organization options. You can redownload all the stuff you lisensed but if you stumble upon the image that you already own via your search you'll get lucky if they tell you it was already licensed. Not sure if that part is awful by accident or design... perhaps the latter.
Overall, Adobe had an awesome opportunity to integrate a stock photo system in their platform that was seamless but alas, their profit was more important. Yet another great idea halfway done and rushed for a cash grab. Buyer beware.
The platform is not very user friendly and reaching helpful support requires some persistence. The Adobe representatives that do respond just refer you to the most basic help link and make the minimal effort to offer help. There is a great variety of quality photos, but the technical and customer service features could use a great deal of improvement.
Adobe free trial is stealing from people. I'LL NEVER SIGN FOR THEIR "FREE TRIAL" BECAUSE IT'S NOT FREE. They charged my card after I cancelled and they continued to charge my card. They make it extremely difficult to cancel. I cant even find the cancel link. Also, the customer service people are out of country and keep hanging up on me.
Signed up after a free trial and had no notice about fund being deducted for 2 months. (24 pounds / month) Asked for cancellation and was presented with ridiculous amount of cancellation fee. Talked to an agent who offered free 3 months to "complete my tenure" for free so I don't lose the chance to get the photos. I asked if I can then cancel without fee after 3 months they said yes. After 3 months I came back and was asked for fee again! I insisted I was told otherwise and the new agent said he would "do me a favor" for once and asked me to read terms and conditions before signing up to any trials in the future. What?! It's this point that I got really fed up and told them they should be more honest in their marketing. The agent sent the terms and condition page to me, I said this was not present to me evidently when I sign up. I felt really scammed by Adobe and really, a creative company like this should come up with more creative, human-centered solutions for their customer. Adobe will never again gain from me. The customer service is simply very manipulative and passively make you feel like you are wrong when you are not.
Answer: Dreamstime.com I get premium images or try their free section every once in a while. There are other free sites, but the content here is more unique. Also Stockfreeimages.com is a sister site I use frequently, tons of free stuff sometimes not easy to find though.
Answer: If you did the free trial and did not cancel it then that is why you are being charged. If you don't cancel prior to the end of the trial they automatically lock you into a yearly commitment. I would call or chat with them and tell them that if they don't cancel it for you and waive the $60 early cancellation fee then you will post negative reviews about your experience. That is what I did and they waived the fee for me. They were going to make me pay it until I told them that I am basing my review on this interaction.
Answer: I hear ya. After about 40 minutes of battling it out with the chat agent I was able to get the cancellation fee waived. I had to threaten them with a bad review before they would do it though. If you haven't cancelled yet try the bad review method
