Subscribed 2 years ago (in the U.S.) with no problem. Renewed this year, nothing but issues! The 'RESUME' doesn't work on 2 different Rokus in the same house. Doesn't matter which show, if we stop before it's over, then press the RESUME button to continue, it starts from the beginning every single time! We have reached out to customer service so many times and they respond with a ridiculous list of items they want from us that have absolutely NOTHING to do with this issue! They got our money, they don't give a damn about fixing the issue! In the latest email, they are blaming our internet speed. It 'must be between 15-20mb'. We tested our speed and it is 65mb! Besides, what does that have to do with 'RESUME'? We can watch the shows fine, nothing to do with 'RESUME'. It's a playback issue on THEIR end and they are making us jump through ridiculous hoops for nothing! Just so we stop asking and go away because they can't or don't want to fix the issue?!
Wow, tried to cancel AcornTV because we keep getting a "player error" when using the app on both a new Samsung Smart TV and an updated Amazon Fire TV. We enjoy the shows on Acorn but after 15 errors and the nightmare it takes to temporarily fix it, we decided to cancel (after trying to get help from Acorn's support) only to find out you get no refund if you pay annually. Even though the app is unusable, we get no pro-rata refund of our annual fee. I guess the lesson for all subscribers is to not purchase the Annual Mode.
Advertises as having British show similar to Britbox. Acorn TV is not available in North Queensland and I have wasted my modest pension money on this scam.
We are constantly getting 'video not currently available ' even though it comes up as available, or season 1 is not available but season 2 and 3 are. It's very frustrating and makes us want to cancel.
Generally, I like the shows I find on Acorn TV. My only problem with Acorn is when I am done watching a series, I can't get some of them to go away on my recently watched list even though I have selected them to be removed from the list.
Great viewing options, but IT NEVER WORKS. I would love to be able to watch it but the constant restarting makes it very stressful. My internet connection is not the problem. I can do anything else I want online, but Acorn is just too much trouble. Causes more stress than entertainment or relaxation.
I watch on a PC using a Browser and this is the issue.
1) You can't add or remove items into/from your watch list.
2) What you watch doesn't show up in your Recently Watched list.
3) Previously view episodes in a series are not underlined so you need to keep track yourself.
4) They only stream up to 560p.
5) They buffer constantly. (not a network issue)
In my own testing Safari Browser works the best as it's very efficient. Firefox is slow but can work ok but Chrome, what Acorntv recommends is the worst.
Acorntv knows all of this, I have spoken with then on the phone yet they won't fix any of it. They prefer you use their app or go through Prime Video and pay monthly. They make more money that way. There's no incentive to go through a browser and pay yearly for them.
I signed for year which ends next January … I won't renew. BritBox is a better choice.
I really resent paying for commercial free streaming and then having to watch commercials that break in mid sentence in the show.
Unbeknown to us Acorn has been charging our Visa for an annual subscription for three years, and we have not been able to use it on our TV. This past December we thought we'd try Acorn as there were some programs we were interested in. So we subscribed via our Amazon Prime account. We were never informed that we already had an Acorn account. We later cancelled the subscription. When we received our Visa bill for last December there were two Acorn charges on it—one from Acorn and one from Amazon, despite the fact that we had cancelled the subscription. Amazon has since credited us for the monthly charge they had billed us. But Acorn has refused to do anything. This alerted us to the fact that Acorn was charging us for something we have never been able to use and which we never wanted.we have been unable to use Acorn on our TV during that entire period. They have now cancelled our subscription but are not giving us back the money from this year, so we have nothing to show for the charge. How can anyone sell a subscription to something that doesn't even work? And how can Acorn continue to charge for something that the customer doesn't want?
When you have difficulty, you are asked to send an email. There is supposed to be a response within 24 hours. Two weeks later and still no response. I cannot get my money back.
A couple of months ago I took out an annual subscription to Acorn. I find I can't watch it on either my TV or via my Apple TV. I tried to contact Acorn for either a refund or help. They don't refund. Their service is hopeless - eg they gave me an American phone number to contact: I can't access that number from Australia. Their replies to my emails take days to arrive. I am very disappointed - what a waste of money.
Exceptionally bad video replay (with continuous stalling) which was not in line with YouTube performance at the same time so no a network issue. Low quality picture definition, and very [poor audio quality (Pie in the Sky), poor selection of shows "above Harlequin" grade. Oldenheim 12 was a great series, pity there are not more like it available on a performing delivery platform. Customer service response very poor. Not a streaming service to be recommended in any way.
This sham company charged me twice. When I tried to cancel there was no way I could unsubscribe. I had to cancel my credit card!
Paid an annual subscription. Would not work on my Android TV. ACORN could not resolve and advised it was a known fault. However they would not refund my subscription. Said they were working on resolving but unable to give time frame. After 3 months still not resolved. I asked to speak to someone and they gave me an American phone number. No Australian customer service phone number.
Easier option to get Acorn is to join Prime AMC Acorn plus Shudder included in that subscription and works perfectly
Impossible to cancel this service. Their web portal just spins endlessly and you receive no confirmation email. When you email them via their portal, they offer you a free month. When you say no, they continue to bill you. I had to use American Express to cancel the service and am still fighting over months of bogus charges.
I only Use Amazon Prime Firestick to subscribe to any Streaming services. In 2016 got Acorn to try it, and then Cancelled thru Amazon …I use PayPal a lot for eBay purchasing, 15 years now …my bank account is full of small amounts of money taken from PayPal and sent to merchants, Noticed a $5 dollar weekly transaction last month & could trace back 6 months. I knew I was not shopping on eBay last month at all, so called PayPal and they said yes these payments are going to Acorn Tv but don't show up as to the name of a merchant because, they are being taken from your checking account with a routing number & your account number! They have also been coming out every week since September 2019. Now since I only go thru Amazon & they only use my debit/credit card number so HOW did Acorn Tv get my banking information and go thru PayPal for a $5 weekly payment, if it was charged at $20 a month, I definitely would have noticed that! Nothing I watch is $20 a month. I NEVER Signed Up for that thru Amazon, which is the only Streaming service I use and speaking to them, they say I never Use Acorn Tv, Since they can See everything I watch! Seems there has been Fraud upon Fraud here and PayPal will only cover 6 months of charges. Looking at these responses It's a waste of time to try to settle with Acorn TVs non existent Customer Service, My only recourse is the Bank …THIS IS A LOT OF MONEY
I have tried repeatedly to cancel the service - logging in directs to a blank landing page - no option to cancel?
We got a 30 day trial via Amazon Prime and enjoyed watching several series start to finish. We were surprised that some episodes were not available to us, but thought that was because it was a trial. We started paying monthly, but discovered that many shows are not available to us "at this time". I don't know why Acorn would list shows on their guide, but not allow us access!
We have now unsubscribed, and strongly recommend to anyone who asks to avoid Acorn TV.
We just love British comedy and detective stories. With grate anticipation we bought our year subscription just to be absolutely disgusted at what they provide for South africans. We can not find any of the classics- midsummer murder or Hercules Piorot Agatha Christy. After watching Foyle's war and seeing the Indian doctor and a mini series, i am yet to find any entertainment. It absolutely leaves a bad taste in my mouth! What a waste of money. They paint a lovely picture. Advertising all of their stunning series just to leave as SA out in the cold.
I signed up for this as I wanted to watch A Place to Call Home. I'd watched seasons 1-2 on Amazon Prime and signed up to acorn as it offered the whole series. Watched season 3 and then... you have to pay to watch the rest on top of your subscription. Toal rip off. Lousy customer experience - and the picture quality was poor. Shame on you!
Answer: The best way to get Acorn is to subscribe through Amazon Prime, if you have that. Streaming is immeasurably better and you don't have to deal with Acorn's dishonest business practices.
