The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

I was helped by the sales people Megan LaMariana, and Evan Kline.
Now I owe this company money for helping me with virtually nothing. I owe charges that weren't mentioned and I am disgusted with this experience. Very un-classy company and this is why its collapsing on itself.
I was over promised on so many things and the second I paid these salesman/woman they stopped responding. Took there bloody time on everything and I can promise you I will never be using this scumbag of a company ever again.
Pure rotten corporatism, in its most mediocre form.
They call 4 million (slight exaggeration) times a day. I had words with the one lady today when I told her I was not interested in updating our information at this time. I informed her that we had someone that managed our website and internet information. I told her we get a lot of calls from Yelp daily and she stated that was impossible because she is the only one that would be calling us. I told her again I was not interested and she kept talking. I said thank you and politely hung up. She called back right away because she was still arguing with me as I was hanging up. I did not answer.
Telemarketing co. Making you feel that they are there to help. End result charges that weren't discussed. Cancelled contract. 6 days of advertising 11 clicks they say(not 1 lead did I receive) $198 bill!
This company is a scam!
Yelp is definitely built for the consumer and not the business owner. DO NOT spend a dime with them and honestly avoid making a page for your business with them! Received a review from a person who had never used our company, responded back as such and the person became irate. Proceeded to flesh out his comment and then call us to yell at us for lying. After we informed him of his mistake he abruptly said it wasn't his problem he posted on the wrong business and that we were the idiots who should change our business name and hung up. We proceeded to call the other business who confirmed the client was theirs and had been in that morning and was asked to leave. Disputed the review and included all of this info including the actual businesses name and phone number so yelp could confirm but yelp doesn't do that. They denied the claim for whatever reason they chose and when we called to talk about it was met with ZERO help and all they could tell us was to call the guy back and beg the guy to remove it. No thanks, not interested in more verbal abuse when this could simply have been handled appropriately by YELP making a phone call themselves or allowing the other company to call to claim the review which they also don't allow... makes no sense! TRASH COMPANY!
A review website that also takes money from the companies that are reviewed, and then decides what reviews to erase? Yeah that sounds really hones. I have noticed any negative reviews will stay forever (fake or real). Five star reviews will be erased even if they are real. Not sure if Yelp writes the fake reviews for money, but plenty of 3rd parties do offer to do this, so it's obviously just a scam.
I created a business page on yelp. They offered "free ads" to try out. Well they never honored the promotion and instead charged the full amount to my credit card. I called to have this corrected, they asked me to forward the email offer to them. I did and then never heard from them. Called again and they said they'd get back to me. No call. Called again and asked to speak to a manager. They said he would call in 24 hours. Three weeks later, no call. WARNING Don't do business with this unethical company.
Yelp contacts you when you have several 5 star reviews. Next they pressure you into pay per click advertising. They proceed to remove the reviews from the site (reasons unknown), then bill you a absorbent amount for clicks that never happened. Stay away from this company. I can't understand why anyone would even trust their review system. Shame on you Yelp! Greed is a sin.
Yelp is a crooked and not fair. They dont post all reviews for your business that consumers write. They are deceptive
Yelp.com is a horrible company. Dont waste your time on their site. They are biased, crooked and untrustworthy.
I am slow to pull the trigger when it comes to spending my hard earned money. Also, I am not one to bad mouth other businesses or business owners. However, my experience with Yelp has been... well, crappy, really, really Really, crappy. Since I would not accept their offered 300 in ad credits... they sent me a email saying that my business did not meet their standard so they were terminating our romance, more like a dang bromance... hehehe. I just laughed. Seems the link to my FREE Yelp business page is still working on my website so I will just let it roll. Anyway, I said all of that to say this. Don't waste your time or money with these jokers. Real Talk.
They steal your money and they talk a good game please do not sign up with them no matter what they say they cannot be trusted.
Today after numerous calls to my business to get us to sign up with their services, I caught a Yelp sale person in a complete lie. She told me that my boss, the owner of the business, told her to tell me to sign with them. When I called the business owner he said that he never said that and that they were "bugging the s**t out of him." I am now going to report Yelp to the State of Ohio's Attorney General for unethical business practices. These folks are bad news.
Charge over $30 for one click that was most likely their representatives. They also remove good reviews and leave bad ones
Our business gets reviews on both Google and Yelp from our customers. The number of Google reviews keeps going up slowly, as expected, but the Yelp number has recently been going down. We found out that Yelp has been hiding so many of the positive reviews in the Not Recommended section (buried at the bottom of the page) but showing all of the negative reviews, and then insidiously shifting positive reviews into Not Recommended. One of our locations has 7 visible reviews and 25 hidden reviews. We contacted Yelp and they said we should pay them for advertising. This is extortion! They are holding the positive reviews hostage.
Terrible! Yelp is a scam! They control your reviews. They like to post only the latest bad reviews, & hide your good reviews under "not recommended reviews". Pretty much so they can legally say "we didn't delete them". Absolutely awful. Yelp shouldn't even be on the internet!
This advertising company don't allow people to submit their reviews as they want. They force control on good reviews didn't post it saying it's not trusted reviews. Bad review will go directly to your site if you are not contracted with them on advertising plan.
We have provided endless documentation verifying reviews are not legit, and some that are. They do nothing to support the retailers. The algorithm they use is faulty and takes any legitimacy away. I can't wait to see them gone for good. All in due time.
The owner of Legacy Redeemers LLC was told that Yelp would help to get clients. The representative stated that we'd only be charged once someone completed an inquiry requesting to talk to about getting insurance, or they click to instantly call me. Yelp lied and we got charged $374. We called them immediately, and they said we were paying a pay-per-click to get views to our yelp page. We WOULD NOT HAVE EVER AGREED TO THAT! Let's just say that got over on me! We've since deactivated the my account.
I am disgusted with Yelp's policy and ethics. I was signed up for a business account by a Yelp telemarketer selling me 30 free days of a Yelp business acct. After that month, I found an almost $600 withdrawal from my checking acct. I was appalled and phoned Yelp immediately. I was not able to reach them for close to a month. Their phone system put me on hold for close to two hours each time I called and I couldn't ever talk to a representative. So I tried emailing, but was told I had to call. A vicious cycle started and I was so distraught after trying to reach on multiple occasions. Finally got through. I told them I was sold a 30 day intro plan, but was charged close to $600. He told me there was nothing he could do even after I told him I didn't sign up and that one of their telemarketers did. Again, nothing he could do. It was obvious they've had this discussion many times before me. Bottom line, DO NOT sign up with Yelp. They are frauds and could care less about your business. I haven't tried Google, but be cautious with them also.
Yelp removes VALID excellent reviews in an attempt to reel you into using them. They are scam artists and operate without integrity and honesty. Do NOT use Yelp.
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
