Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Why is it that why people leave a review yelp decides which ones they want to post and not. And come to find out that if you dont pay for advertising with them they make sure that the people that do have a better rating, by not posting all a companies good reviews. And it will let any one slander a company with out check on any thing to make sure if its ture or not. These companies are there to make money and nothing more. If you really want good fair reviews you need to find a site that takes money to post reviews not pay for advertising. I want to give them 0 out of 5 stars but it wouldnt let me.

Casa de Capucine is a small short term rental business. Yelp Representatives had been trying for years to get me to sign my rental business advertising agreement with them, but due to the bad reviews and the word of mouth of many people I kept away from Yelp.

On 28 September a representative from yelp by the name of Shiko Khan contacted me about great promotion that Yelp was running for the holiday weekended. Clients could run a promotional add for the weekend alone at a low cost of $33. Shiko Khan, insisted that I should give Yelp a try and not listen to the nay sayers and the the bad reviews, while taking into consideration that this promotion would only be for a weekend. If after the weekend I felt that I had success, I could come back and sign a long term contract with them. The only reason I agreed to this was because he told me on multiple occasion's that this would only be for the weekend and it would be cancelled when the weekend ended.

With that being said, I am very disappointed and disgusted with the way Yelp has handled the issue by charging me for something I did not ask for. They have charged me $300 for something that I did not even know I was paying for. After I agreed to give the details of my credit card for the $33, I never heard back from Mr. Shiko Khan. I sent him a couple of emails asking him why wasn't I getting any return emails from him but I never got a reply. This is a terrible way for y'all to do business and cheat your way into making money for Yelp.

I don't want to have anything to do with Yelp in anyway whatsoever. I have been disputing the $300 transaction since October 1 I never gave Yelp verbal or written permission to charge me for any transaction, other than the original $33.
I don't ever want to deal with a company like Yelp that hire deceptive people like Shiko Khan, to misguide lay people into eventually stealing from them.

Lied to
January 4, 2020

I specifically asked if my ad would automatically review, and I was told it was not (or to be fair, I may have been told I'd be notified before it renewed). I received NO notification but was billed for a second month without my approval. They said they had taped my conversation and that I was not told that... I asked them to play that conversation back to me and they refused... and I obviously know why-they were lying. Fighting the payment with my Credit Card company.

Reviews for businesses that have nothing to do with my business are posted under my business name. There doesn't appear to be any check in place and unless you have a paid agreement with YELP you don't have the ability to respond or correct the false postings. (I'm a psychic and the review is for a Chinese medicine doctor for example). I thought once Google purchased YELP this sort of thing would get better.

Hides Reviews
December 21, 2019

Yelp hides most of the reviews for small businesses that do not advertise with them. Use Google or any other site instead. My small business has over 30 5-star reviews. Yelp only displays between 1 and 3 of them. If you scroll down past a great deal of advertising you will find some small print that says: "And here are (x number of reviews) that Yelp does not recommend." Reviews that Yelp DOES NOT RECOMMEND are hidden. That is just WRONG. Bad for small business. Disrespectful of the person who took the time to write.

Yelp is nothing but, lies and extortion. They hide the good reviews and just post the bad. In order to black mail you, into advertising with them. They need to be stopped. Innocent small businesses are being injured.

Yelp is highway robbery
December 20, 2019

They purposely have people trolling, I suspect, I'm a new business, and some girl facebooked me late at night asking for my prices, I asked for her phone number, so I could call her in the morning and gave my phone number. She said she was too shy to talk on the phone. Oh brother. Than I facebooked her in a couple of days, and she said she found another photographer. She than put on my yelp, 2 stars, and that it was too hard to communicate with me. Which was a lie! I flagged her, and Yelp is no help, and they wanted to sell me an ad, said that they would take it down if I bought an ad. I never did and now they took down all my good reviews and left his awful lady's review!

Salesman Matthew and Peter came and assessed my house and current furnace and then gave me a great estimate for various options for brand new furnaces. They were competitive and promised great quality and the furnace installed by Anderson works great!

Run! They make it easy to pay for a warranty, then never pay out! So, they get to keep all the money from people who never make a claim (which I would guess is about ninety percent) plus, all the people who make a claim. One hundred percent profit.
You get scammed! Buy from a reputable warranty company.

Big time scammers
December 11, 2019

Started a trial run and after around 21 days no customers. Then shut the add down and then forgot about it. After about 4 or 5 months noticed they took $390.0 for the first month then another $30.0 a month until I finally noticed. Tried to get them to fix it and reimburse the "stolen money" and there excuse was I didn't shut off some other add which is bull because me and the original sales person that solicited me went thru it so I knew how to shut the add down so I did that and here we are. I've been scammed don't let it happen to you.

Scammers!
December 10, 2019

Yelp calls me several times a week trying to get me to pay to have better placement on Yelp. Not an honest review site if you can pay for better placement. I wish they would lose my number. I would love to prosecute them for harassment. Like most review sites, you can pay for placement or simply pay for fake reviews. I don't know why anyone would bother with these scammers.

I was giving $150.00 in free pay per clicks and in order to use that I needed to set up an account which requires a valid credit card. So I did After just 30 days I'm charged $450.00 which I was told $150.00 was some extra services I added which I had no clue of and the rest was clicks which that free $150.00 os only valid after my first charge which I was totally unaware of. In the 30 Days I didn't even see any results at all from them. There was nothing they can do for me and we're very unprofessional and told me they rather cancel me then try and work this out with me which I was completely deceived. Shady shady shady business practices and there happy to rob you. Such a joke right that there company was built on reviews and giving good service when they have the worst and there reviews are by far the worst which I wish I seen first before losing $450.00. Beware
