Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

I canceled within the first month of advertising, the business kept charging me because they forgot to cancel the account with billing. I asked for a refund, and they said they can not due to their month delayed billing process. Yelp wants to rob small business owners with fake spam bots with false inquiries and fake sales leads. I reported this sham company to the Better Business Bureau! Plus, discovered 100,000 of other business owners complaints about the same thing, fake spam bots, accounts, and fake sales leads. DO NOT ADVERTISE WITH THIS SCAM RIP OFF.

Signed up for paid advertising 2/2020. I was told advertising would be; limited to $350 per month. Got credit card statement and it was over $400. I let ad remain for 30 more days. Another high charge on credit card. I called and stopped all advertising. Just received another credit card bill for $109. Hard to get in touch with billing. Easy to get in touch with sales representatives who mislead.

I've been using Yelp for several years, reviewing mostly restaurants I love --and some to which I'll never return. But also some store experiences and a couple of my doctors. Yelp is free to use for reviewers. I have read some of the revews of Yelp posted here and, frankly, I don't understand them. Perhaps there is a side of Yelp that doesn't make itself known to reviewERS, only to reviewEES. But Yelp is a business and so I'm giving it 5 stars as a good place to review local businesses. But as far as I know, it is only for brick and mortar businesses, unlike sitejabber which is for reviewing websites. I suppose I could check out the websites of any business I have reviewed on Yelp and review their website here on sitejabber. Wish I'd thought of this at the beginning of quarantine.

Did you know this company takes good reviews off of your business profile and there program picks and choose what review will stay and which one get filed under there "not recommended" reviews? There excuse to me was that what if it is like a family member or friend, that is understandable HOWEVER they removed reviews from my clients and past clients who paid for my services. Then there excuse was what if it is an ex- spouse or ex-family members or someone having a bad day who is trying to damage a business with a bad review. I can understand having a business verify that it was a legitimate client/customer through a system or that the client or customer used that service/company to verify services before posting a review however, They are simply taking off reviews without contacting or verifying that the review was good Yelp doesn't see any problem with that. If it is a situation for Slander that can be address in a civil court and a business can request to have that removed.
We also signed up for yelp ads for 10 days and they charged $169.00+ to advertise my business however, they didn't inform me that they consider this a "self service" and even after I paid them to provide this ad service to me, they were listing services on my profile that my business and licence don't cover and that I can not legally provide. In other words they were advertising my business services falsely.

I recently took over the Reviews of the company where I work. There were some terrible reviews, most not even belonging to us. I reported them and they decided they needed to stay. One of the reviews has more F words than a Tarantino movie. The positive reviews are hidden and I see that seems to be a common thing. I. m betting there is a lawsuit against them, I intend to find it and join in.

I'd prefer not to have our company on there at all, but that is also NOT an option.

Sure, I can comment back, but when it's not for this business I look like I am the one making things up or mistaken. So, for now I just leave them, not that I have a choice, but I hope that others realize what a crap show YELP is.

How can a company ALLOW and encourage negative reviews? My opinion on review sites is, and always has been that people tend to leave more negative reviews than positive ones. You leave one when you are pissed so you can vent. Sure sometimes we do when we are happy, but not as often. Happiness doesn't ruin our days.

Yelp is bad
May 6, 2020

Too bad they don't have negative stars. In which case, I would give them a negative 5. If you want to waste some money, you'll be better off throwing a few hundred dollar bills in the fireplace, and avoid the aggravation and frustration of dealing with them.

Fraudulent services, no support from customer, save your money, not a single customer or call from any one in a month, consumer beware, very fast talking sales people but no result of any type. Again do not fall for their sales pitch.

Have never written a review before, but I feel that I have to mention the fact that Jet City Devices Repair has it all.
Friendly service, fair prices, and excellent workmanship, done in record time. This is the way a company should be run. Very impressed, will exclusively use them in the future.

SCAM
April 28, 2020

Yelp is the worst. They charged me $319 for 1 week of pay per clicks. They mislead you saying it's a $16 daily charge but it's really a MONTHLY charge. So even on days when you have zero clicks, they still charge you for $16. I am sure they would charge the maximum each month if allowed. Customer service is worthless. I have been disputing the charge and they are basically robots with no empathy. They keep saying they provided a service and will charge me. What kind of terrible company wants to leave such a bitter taste in people's mouths. I normally don't write negative reviews but Yelp deserves a 0 star review!

Very Scary Business
April 27, 2020

Incomprehensible, that this business YELP can conduct itself with such disinformation and HARM, lack of accountability or care to individuals and businesses they hold hostage. Their engineers who decide what is "freedom of speech" and what the truth is behind, "we don't recommend these reviews". I can only hope that their success be achieved ONLY by what all truly successful individuals must bare and experience in order to last the test of time which is FULL accountability for their choices, actions and Responsibility to the many that may have been harmed by their doings, God willing!

We are an established Auto Repair Shop (13 years in business) that had no online presence. Created a website and created profiles on Google and Yelp. Google sends a email here there regarding Google Ads which is fine. Yelp however, inundates us with emails, phone calls. When they do call they are very, very pushy and even argue with you. They offer $1200 in advertising money and when asked if there are any other fees - whatsoever - they assure you no. I ask we pay $0, they respond yes. When you get to the page to add payment info (they walk you through this) there are of course fees. $4/per day. When I bring this up, this is when they get extra pushy bordering on insulting. I have had to hang up on them the last two times because I couldn't end the call any other way.

I have received seven 5 star reviews from clients of mine. Of these, five are hidden. I have received a single 1 star review from a maniac who has never been a customer or a client of mine (in fact, the situation she describes is one where I protected one of my client's best interests - ie did my only job) and it gets posted no questions asked. Not only that but the staff refuses to review any of the above. When I contact them I get the same canned explanation. When I responded to the idiot's libelous claims directly by answering her in a public forum (no threats, no profanity, etc), my response was removed from the site.

These piece of $#*! extortionists have never built a business, provide no valuable service, and you can't trust the information that they host. Who knows ot a class action suit against them that I can hop on? I'm all over it.

Warning!
April 13, 2020

If you are a business owner or manager, stay away from Yelp! Do not claim the business on their website. Please read all of the negative reviews here, and other places. I have. It is all true, the same things happened to our business and then some. There is nothing you can do about it except stay away.
If you are a consumer, know that Yelp gives an untrue portrayal of many many businesses, scams them and your reviews are not properly handled. Yelp is evil.

100% liars
April 9, 2020

We had an operator from Yelp contact us about advertising and paying a fee. After turning them down our good reviews got taken down and moved to the hidden "filtered" section. Yet, two bad reviews seem to stay on top no matter what. They also pitched me on paying a fee to remove the negative reviews. It just goes to show you that Yelp is out to scam small business owners off of false negative reviews. There are plenty of review companies out there that have rated Smart Energy Contracting 5 stars and show that we are not a bad company such as porch.com, houzz.com, and yelp should be no different. Yelp is pathetic and I will never sign up for there advertising services.

I have submitted to complaints on reviews for my business that one was not mine for I do no have that person who wrote it as a customer or the money amount, so they wrote a review for the wrong company and the other we took the person to court and have recordings that she was not truthful... they will not delete because it does not go against their rules.
So they allow people who lie and people who have not used your company to write stuff.
I HATE YELP.
