The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Same here! Worst company ever. Charged my credit card and upgraded me without my consent for services I did NOT sign up for or agreed too. Countless hours on the phone speaking to representatives about the same fraud again, again and again. Took me 1.5 years to get out of their grasp, Iam glad I did not give up. I am surprised this is legal!
I claimed my site on yelp, and have a very good rating on google. I show upeasily on google, but if you identify your location as near my store, and search for a business near you in my category, my business doesn't even show up.
Also, a customer left me a good review on Yelp, but was marked as something like 'couldn't be trusted or verified'
After forty-four years in the Cosmetology business, I originated a Mobile Salon Business for Seniors and Special Needs. Since opening, I have received positive recognition from clients and numerous endorsements from companies in Colorado who suggest my services to the Senior and Special Needs community. Google and others have rated me five stars across the board.
One day in April of 2020, a young female decided to post on Yelp that I hung up on her and laughed and would tell all her friends that I am an ugly human being. She rated me with one star.
I have no idea who this person is. I wrote to her and asked her about her comments and rating and never heard back from her.
I wrote to Yelp asking to have this looked into, and after a month of writing back and forth, they told me that they had decided to leave the review up, and perhaps I could learn something from this. They also posted a personal page on me and used one of my photos from Facebook without my permission. I find Yelp very unprofessional. There is adequate testimony to show that a poor evaluation of me was not justified.
The Customer Service people from Yelp phone me several times a year asking for money to promote my Services. After the consideration they have shown me, they will never see a penny of mine. Maybe they can learn something from that.
I was talked into a "trial" with our free business page by a rep named Jo. She assured me that there would be no charge because of all the credits she was giving me. Well, I received a bill for May for $180 that I did not expect and am being billed for June after I shut off everything. I files a "payment inquiry form" to contest this situation. I was told no contest. I spoke with several "success managers" who apparently have no ability to address grievances, one even hung up on me rather than answer my questions. I was told by all reps I spoke with that I am entirely welcome not to pay the bills, but they will be turned over to 3rd party collections. WOW. I have been in sales and customer service for nearly 30 years and I and expertly say that this company operates on lies and has no care at all for customer satisfaction.
These people are ruthless. They removed all 17 of my 5 star reviews to not recommended. I am a small 1 chair hair salon and my potential clients read reviews to decide on whose going to cut & color their hair. They said that Their software is deleting all of my reviews and there's nothing they can do but yet they can help me improve my presence by selling either stupid and ridiculously overpriced advertising. Think this is a conflict of interest? I would really like to gather up a bunch of people and file a class action lawsuit against them because they're damaging everybody's reputation if you don't purchase their advertising.
Password hasn't worked for years. Tried again with mew devices, as reading their reviews is useful. But their "support" consists of a useless list of "faqs" and a password change doesn't work on their app.
The website tells you how to recover or change your password, then takes you to an error page.
Aaaarrrrhggghhh.
Tried one ad, didnt help our business at all, canceled it. Then I got $300 in FREE ads. So I said why not let's give it a shot again. I followed it closely to see how much money the ad using. Until the end of the month hit and I see I'm being charged for the ad, so I quickly called and inquired about the $300 in free ads that I had gotten only to be told, that had all been used up in the first FEW DAYS! I thought how is that possible the first ad I had run I was only charged about $15, I just couldn't understand why this ad had cost so much. I called several times only to deal with rude and unknowledgeable people at their "customer service". Both just talked in circles until I was so fed up that I basically hung up. I WILL NEVER USE ANYTHING WITH YELP EVER AGAIN! The last ad I ran they ended up charging me over $200. I was furious to say the least. Not only did they scam and rip me off, they were so RUDE and condescending toward me when I trying to figure out how I had gotten charged so much when I supposedly had $300 in FREE ADS! SO AGAIN LYING, SCAMMER THIEVES!
Beware. These people are extremely unethical in their sales practices. They will not give you a written contract and will not give you a transcript of the sales call. This gives them the freedom to do whatever they want, including blatantly lie about terms and conditions... and pricing... just be very careful. They are not interested in a long term relationship with you. Its hit it and quit it with them.
Business hijackers!
Take over your business! And write Bad reviews
They are not good at hiding it!
Even use pitches off the Internet To make it look real
They ar price baiting, they refuse to post positive reviews to counter act lower star reviews, this is intentionally done by Yelp. They use the contact you make to question why the other reviews are not listed to try to get you to " invest" in your page and "quite possibly " when you pay for your page and advertising " you might see some of the really good reviews that are hidden somehow bubble to the surface so to speak"... If that is not Blatant blackmail I don't know what isn't. They are scam artists and I rue the day I joined yelp for my business!
Every single review of our company posted in 2018, 2019, and 2020 has vanished, leaving only 2 negative reviews from 2014 and one positive from 2017. We've tried contacting Yelp, but no one will give us an answer as to what's going on. On every other review site we have at least a 4.5 rating, but because of this, we have a 2.5 rating on Yelp. Something is wrong with their algorithm or staff. No wonder no one asks for Yelp reviews anymore.
Thank you for acknowledging and supporting our black citizens. It is sad that this is still an issue in the United Sates, you would think we would have learned by know that everyone matters. Your contributions were so amazing.
Yep posts reviews that at not even accurate. They posted a Negative review on a restaurant Of food they don't even sell. The person who wrote the review only writes negative comments. Yelp also hides your good comments if you don't pay for their advertising.
Solo te roban te con ron sin autorización son unos lacras les llamas para reclamarle te dicen que te van a transferir y te cuelgan.
Justin Kim "7-Year Employee" of Yelp. Another bad experience after giving them another try. I don't think I need to even say anymore. This company will be no more soon. PLEASE - Steer clear if you are a business owner.
I have been overcharged by $360 and completely ignored by this self proclaimed company. My "account rep" wont answer his phone and conveniently, his voicemail is always full. Even the chat box on the website wont connect. Business' Beware!
Yelp has ruined my business image! Shame on you guys you people are purposely making other people's loss. ALL my positive reviews are in non recommended category and they are 14 reviews and 4 reviews which are negative are posted on yelp as recommended. I would welcome all reviews negative as well as positive but they are purposely keeping ONLY NEGATIVE reviews. DON'T EVER TRUST YELP REVIEWS! They are ripped off my company image! I am satisfied to see yelp negative review on site jabber! SHAME ON YOU YELP. Your reviews are fraud as your company. If you don't believe me see proof's below. YOUR COMPANY WILL ROT IN HELL!
Don't advertise here! They can withhold your reviews from happy customers. They say it's odd if you have too many 5 star reviews... or you care about your customers! Push your reviews somewhere else, so your customers can be heard.
State attorney offices around the states will soon start handing out HUGE fines and put this crew of thieves in the proper place. Yelp is just stealing while the can until they cannot. Looting the market while they can, and they DO. Tick tock, hell awaits evil. I no longer have anything to do with them, like many posting truth here. Example: unclaimed local restaurant has been shuttered closed for more than 18 months, yelpers including me have posted 'reviews' listing the fact the place is CLOSED. So, yelp, moves the posts to 'unrecommended' listing, like that is gonna hide the TRUTH. Modus op people, school lesson revealed. They don't care. If you do, then, they couldn't care less!... now, i hope someone yelps a review that gives a 5 star post on a closed eatery!? Oooh, then what will they do? Explode.
They will try to make your business look bad if you refuse all their high pressure RUDE sales calls. If you don't advertise they put your 5 star reviews (70% of mine) in a NOT RECOMMENDED section making them hard to find and makes it look like something is wrong with them!
Businesses and people looking for honest reviews should use TripAdvisor they have real people screen them, or use Google reviews.
This was the email they immediately sent me after the guy said why did you hang up on me when he called three times back to back when I hung up on the jerk.
It seems like you don't like Yelp. Or... that's what I'm assuming... since you just hung up on me three times in a row even thought you've never talked to me haha.
"I don't care if you're rude. It doesn't bother me. But I'm guessing that's not what you do with customers who call. I'm guessing you take their calls because that's how you make money.
I'm a little confused dude.
You've got nothing but 5 star reviews. You don't pay anything for your Yelp page. We send you a ton of free business every month. We literally put money in your pocket.
All I want is to send you more money.
So, fill me in here buddy -- what's with the hostility?
Aloha --
YELP ABSOLUTELY SUCKS!
Answer: Yes, it's true or they go to "not recommended"
Answer: Yelp are crooks, find some where else
Answer: For one of my business they made me pay for their monthly service which I never did, so my positive review was hidden.
Answer: Look somewhere else. As the reviews here show Yelp is notoriously unreliable.
Answer: Yes they erase all reviews they darn well wish to delete. CROOKED YELP!
