Yelp Reviews Summary

The company's reputation is significantly marred by widespread customer dissatisfaction, primarily concerning its review management practices and aggressive advertising tactics. Many users express frustration over hidden reviews, perceived extortion for advertising, and a lack of genuine customer support. Positive aspects are scarce, with some customers appreciating the platform's potential for connecting with local businesses. However, the overwhelming sentiment reveals a distrust in the company's ethics and practices, leading to calls for accountability and transparency. Overall, the feedback indicates a critical need for Yelp to address these serious concerns to rebuild trust among its users.

Copy: "Yelp,

I would like to know why my reviews suddenly vanished from my page, and was never notified why this occurred and that it occurred. Why do you keep tampering with my ad? Further, when I speak with agents on the phone, they contradict themselves. They say I don't have an ad, but then they say I am showing in searches. If I don't have an ad, how can I be showing in searches? They never make any sense, and they always give vague and contradictory responses. I can never get a clear explanation from them. Just today, I was told I don't have an ad, but then the agent said I have a free ad. If I have a free ad, then I HAVE AN AD. I never authorized you to touch my reviews. If you are going to remove reviews, you need to notify the person and provide a reason. You are unethical, manipulative and devious. I have had nothing but problems with your terrible customer service since I started my business in July this year. Close my account immediately. I am giving Yelp a negative review, and on my business page on YouTube I am explaining my terrible experience with Yelp. This is the problem with online advertisements; there is too much potential for tampering and corruption. Yelp is terrible. I will never use your services again." Update: Phone agent hung-up on me, just for trying to understand how they operate. Very rude.

Cancelled order
December 19, 2020

We order Christmas cards from Walter Drake every year for past ten years. This year they decided to cancel my order since the cards were out of stock. They did not have the decency to email me to let me know that the cards I ordered were out of stock! Terrible customer service!

Wow Yelp is a scam
December 17, 2020

I was lured to try out their free advertisement for a month trial the person said, but i need to enter my credit card and she assured me that i would be able to cancel at any time. Well that is a lie! You cannot go in your account to remove or delete your credit card, the sales person never called me back, when calling the 800 number they just past the buck and said "you have to call tomorrow and get your credit card removed". Their tactics are down right awful, which is ironic considering they are a business review platform. Stay away.

Watch the Billion Dollar Bully documentary about how Yelp does business and all their practices are unethical. I wish Apple would drop them. They purposefully have a custom algorithm that makes your reviews not calculate or stick properly. They've been sued and it does no good. Basically, get 150 reviews for your business and then see that 20 stick. 110 were 5 star and 40 reviews were bad- they throw 80% of your reviews into not relevant which doesn't reflect in your star rating. So that scenario you're lucky to have a 1.5 star rating with Yelp. Right? Come on. It's a scam so you will have to interact with their community to get them to get their reviews to stick. I wouldn't recommend doing business with Yelp. Sure they'll reply with a legal written script and link with all their legal verbiage. I can't say what I want on here because they'll get it removed. Just Google... Billion Dollar Bully, Yelp Law suits over review practices, etc. don't download app and don't patronize their business name. It only helps their algorithms across the web.

Lousy company
December 7, 2020

Northstar Alarm is a lousy company. Last May, they installed my free camera doorbell as an upgrade to my already alarm system I have with them. In September, my doorbell started flashing a red & green color & the camera disconnected from my phone. I have emailed the company for help, I have called several times & was always transfered to another dept, then hung up on. I have tested the rep. That came to my door last April, Jason Highsmith. No one wants to help. When I made a complaint with BBB last week, I got a call THAT day. Now, the tech that was suppossed to be at my house this morning is over an hour late. I have called him & just keep getting excuses of why he is late. I texted him to say we need to reschedule at my convenience & he said he is headed this way. Showed me a map of where he is at & how long it will take for him to get here. I am very unhappy with this company & do not recommend them even to a dog.

Open my business 20 years ago advertised on free business listings like Yelp.
Try to update my info. Was not able to without purchasing a one-year subscription to Yelp. They still refuse to update my information... Would not hit a bull in the $#*! with Yelp

They are a terrible company. Do not ever give them a penny. They hide your reviews if you don't advertise with them. And they will call you daily begging you to advertise with them for years.

Horrible company
December 2, 2020

This company is $#*!! Never used them! There got got me to add my debit card told me how they where gonna do a trial and call me back to see if it was a fit for my company! Never heard back, so I figured no worries because I didn't wanna use them anyway! Then a whole month goes by, never use them and next thing I know my account is being charged 1020. 00 so I look through my online statements and they had also charged me almost 400$ a month earlier! I never agreed to any payments or subscription! And that say I can get no refund because I set it up! But I didn't there guy set it up as a trial and was suppose to get back with me and I've heard nothing from them since the Intitial conversation! All the calls are recorded supposedly and I told them to just go listen but they won't! I guess stealing someone's money is more convenient! If I where you just hang the damn phone up if they reach out! I dnt know nothing about this company but from the looks of there reviews there garbage and from my dealings they take advantage then steal!

So I initially tried Yelp on October 13th 2020 I was given a $300 credit and was told that if I canceled in 30 days I would not be charged for services. They failed to tell me that their billing cycle starts over at the beginning of the month. I started my free trial in the middle of the month when November 1st came they had charged up the $300 credit, then charged me $289 and said there was a credit balance of 105$ which left me with a bill of $115. The way that they did this is they didn't tell me how they're building cycle works so even though they gave me a free credit they set it up so that I can be charged down the line before I canceled I will never use Yelp ever ever as long as my skin black and my butthole is turned towards the ground they can never get my service time or money

This is the worst Company ever. Convinced me it was a "slam dunk" to advertise with them and that I would receive $900 in promotional credit. (I told them I wasn't even going to be open for a couple more weeks). "Just try it out and see how much you'll love it" is what I was told. Next thing I know, they're taking down EVERY review I received and charging me $560. Apparently their software reviews them all and deemed them unworthy.
I called to ask about the reviews and to have it explained more clearly what I was getting for running the ads and when I should expect the first bill And what to expect. (I originally said I would never spend more than $200/ month). He informed me I would be billed The $560 (which I would have NEVER agreed to). THIS WILL BE DISPUTED! He said there was nothing he could do about it and that it was a valid charge. Sorry YELP, but you provide an AWFUL and UNTRUSTWORTHY service. Shame on you

Yelp is a parasite
November 22, 2020

Yelp has no credibility or purpose. They hold businesses hostage by allowing fake users to defame businesses. Anyone can create a business name under any address and post angry rants to defame businesses and persons by name. Yelp does not verify any business listing, address or any user. Yelp does not delete any business account even if it listed at your home address. It has become a playground for angry and vindictive people. Yelp is a dying company. Why would a businesses pay yelp advertising dollars?

Yelp Sucks
November 18, 2020

I was called by Yelp to sign up with their service. I was told I would not be charged anything until I get a phone call. I received one phone call asking for something that my service does not cover and was not asked for. I realized I was being charged $570.00 per month for 4 months a total of$2280. 00. This was very hurtful to my small business that could not afford that kind of money.

Yelp is a fraud and scam.
November 16, 2020

Yelp is a fraud and scam.
They deleted all my good reviews. And when I called to understand what happened the guy told me that my clients were not their clients and only used yelp to leave me a review, so if I talk to them to use their services more frequently they would allow the reviews to stay. I am not gonna ask my client to do anything and if they can't keep the good reviews just delete my company from this scam. I am a 4.6 star review on google which is a much more credible company, so unfair to be harmed by a scam company like that. And more, take a look on BBB, everybody saying the same thing about them.

Will not remove your business even if customers are trying to scam you and putting your business at risk. I called and the customer service rep told me oh well and hung up on me. Just rude and do not care about your business at all! Wish I never signed up for this.

Yelp is unscrupulous!
November 13, 2020

Yelp cold called me and convinced me to sign up for a free trial but requested my card details "to access discount code". My rep said no charges would be made. They immediately began, without my authorization, to fraudulently charge my account. They hit my account 4 times within the first 3 hours. I notified my rep who did not answer my calls or emails. I filed a claim with my bank. Had to cancel my debit card to stop Yelp. My bank said Yelp is known for these fraudulent business practices and pressure sales tactics. Don't get sucked in. They are liars and will bill you even when they have no legal right to do so. I am told that Yelp performs terribly for the exorbitant fees they charge, to make matters even worse. Don't sign up with Yelp unless you want to be ripped off, disappointed, lied to & annoyed to no end!

Do not use yelp
November 9, 2020

Let's start from the beginning! I have an account with vagaro. It said Yelp would post my business for free so I signed up. Literally once I signed up I have three people called me about free ads. The third person I spoke with was Tomoya! She told me I had 900 free ad advertising credits for signing up! So, now to the phone call she told me all about the free ads and how the people that did it got 2 to 3 customers and blah blah and it's free credits all I have to do is put my card on file and a pre authorization charge between $20-$30 would be charged but it would fall off. The first charge I received was a charger of $27.05 I immediately emailed Tomoya and she said oh it should fall off now I have a charge of $570.00 now I'm going through a dispute with Yelp because they said I did this. Mind you since I was driving Tomoya told me they not allowed to do this but she could fix some things for me and asked me once I got home to fix my about me and etc. it's been a week now and Yelp finally calls me back saying it's no way she was on my account and they have ip addresses and they had listened to the phone call which I know they didn't because if they did they would of heard her say she sign in for me, they would of heard her say free 900 credits, they would of heard me tell her I have sprint and my internet connection is not strong while I'm on the phone and asked her could she do it for me! I'm extremely upset and I wouldn't recommend anyone doing business with Yelp. I had to call multiple times I sent multiple emails I was hung up on by Justin and today I was just over it! DO NOT USE YELP GO TO GOOGLE ITS FREE and you wouldn't have to worry about unnecessary charges!

Horrible operation
November 8, 2020

Besides omitting your good reviews unless you pay them, they allow falsified information and personal details to be posted. This is a Karen platform and I would never take a single review written there with a grain of salt. I am amazed they are even allowed to operate.
