This sounds like a fantastic option to get the item you need, but the company practices very bad business. I purchased mattresses and in less than a year had paid more than double the value of the purchase price. When I called to ask how many payments were left they indicated I owed them nearly 100% of the initial value of the product as my buyout amount. This would have made my total price paid 300% of the products initial cost. They compromised to 60% on the buyout so I ended up paying 260% of the original cost in less than 12 months. They will not call you to tell you when you are eligible for your buyout and they do not send this to you in the mail. You must be very careful with this deceitful company.

Horrible experience - can't even explain their true policy! Purchased outdoor furnishings last June under the pretense that this was a Lease Purchase plan meaning every payment I was making is going toward the purchase price of the items leased! WRONG -They continue to take my money $334.14 monthly and in Oct 2020 tell me by December it will be paid in full and no more monthly payments... except I find today they deducted $334.14 both in January and February 2021! So I call today - Saturday... and they now tell me I have to complete a Purchase transaction of $946.74 to stop any further Lease payments out of my bank account! So I ask them since it is less than 24 hours can you please deduct the $334.14 paid from the $946.74 since it is less than 24 hours and in the midst of a pandemic to help alleviate any monthly payment stress for me... They say NO! They can't do that and it is not their policy! So I escalate to speak to a Supervisor - but conveniently they are too busy and can't assist me! They say sorry I was misled and they will escalate for me but have to wait 3-5 days for information in my email to determine next steps. Basically nothing they can do and too bad since the payment from Friday was in a Pending status and already processed! I am calling my bank and disputing! Thieves, liars and cheats to their own benefit! Way to take care of your customers! I will be sharing with everyone I know and tell them all to NEVER NEVER NEVER LEASE OR PURCHASE from them!

We had the cash to pay for our $1900 fridge and $900 range but the sales rep told us we'd save "hundreds" of dollars if we did the lease option through WhyNotLeaseIt and paid it off immediately. We did that. Big surprise! We owed over $4000 because WhyNotLeaseIt preaculates interest, which is illegal in California now. This company preys on consumers - how can Sears align themselves with a scam artist like this?

This company is disgusting. Being a new mom I didn't think anything of it, checking my account periodically until we went to buy a new appliance today. Going through my statements I was charged an additional 903.40. Nice, huh? They still wanted my husband to pay him 20.00 that is "owed".

So for something we purchased and leased and were told we could buy outright for 1339 if the four payments were made on time, we paid 2242. 40. And they wanted an additional 20.00? We would have just paid for it in full at the store for the 1339 if we knew that we were going to be ripped off.

So now my husband not only has to go back to the store to close the lease we started today to just go pay for the item, they are making him bring it back to the store only for him to take it out of the store once he paid for it! Disgusting.

Dont ever do this leasing program. And never ever purchase with Sears warehouse. These people act like your friends. They are nothing but scammers.

Plain and simple, their contracts are convoluted and end up having the consumer spending hundreds if not thousands more to close the contract. Their customer support is horrible. Their mere ability to have an educated conversation over a customers concern is lacking. I would NOT recommend this service to anyone, under any circumstance. Huge scam! Huge rip off! Very very disappointed. Let's not forget SEARS in all of this, no wonder they're going out of business, working with these types of partners is just horrendous and unprofessional. I really thought the SEARS brand could be trusted, guess not. Good riddins and see you never.

A few years ago my husband and I purchased a storage building and freezer from sears. The original building purchased was not in stock so we had to down grade to another unit. Sears cancelled the original contract and then started a new one. Two years later we are still fighting them on not paying for the original building we never got. I made calls, sent emails, and copies of bank statements and receipts. NO ONE ever would reply even when I was told that the email address I had was for a supervisor. Now we are fighting this as showing negatively on our credit report. I refuse to pay for something I never received! When we clear up t up with one collection agency, they send it to a new one. It seems like this will be a forever battle!

This place is a joke, they will put you on hold for 10-30 mins at a time for simple answers.
The customer service is over seas so you wont deal with an English speaking person.
They dont take payments easily.
Process is annoying to apply and annoying to pay off. Overall save a bit and buy it outright this place is a scam.

I purchased a new tv online through sears.com on 9/21/18. I received tv October 3,2018. I paid tv off with why not lease it December 17,2018. Within 90 day time frame. Tv tore up January 7,2019. I called sears to try an get help with product an was told that since it's been over 30 days that I can't be refunded and 45 days I would need to contact manufacturer Vizio. I contacted Vizio and I was told to give them the model number for tv. Once I gave vizio the model number I was told the tv was out of warranty. I ask how. Vizio representive stated the tv was a 2013 recall tv. Wow! I had no idea. I have contract with why not lease it and they don't even care to help me out since I paid 661.00 for tv. Sears/why not lease it ripped me off with.

I paid my account off but they keep taking money. Their payments records don't match what my bank has nor what they have on the customer portal. No communication whatsoever, get a different story every time you call but yet they keep taking money out and they say they sent a refund but NEVER got it. Stay away!

This is a constant rental process for every day items. You're paying a rental fee weekly until after a set amount of payments, after that, if you can remember the date, you can then purchase the leased items for a percentage(which is usually large). I totally misunderstood because I believed it was similar to other leasing programs where you own the item after a set time. This isn't the case, and if you read the fine print, you'll see it. DO NOT take out a lease with them. Save money or buy used. You'll spend so much more money doing this. Learn a lesson from us who learned it the hard way. Don't fall for the simple lease terms you're told at the counter. I didn't know until a sears employee informed me in more details than they normally would. When you fall on hard times, it's easier to get taken advantage of because your defenses are down during a time of need. Always, always read through and make sure you fully understand.

Don't lease a mower
October 9, 2019

I got the Attorney General involved on my account. Misleading contract to say the least. I paid the 1800 plus amount stated on contract. Tempo said I still owed 900 plus to pay off... or refinance thru Sears.

The Arkansas Attorney Gens office got involved. Got an email today saying account paid in full. I threatened to sign the pending civil suit already in the works... over 1560 signers as of August.
But they settled mine before hell broke loose

These people don't run business properly. The people in the stores don't know they hidden agenda. They keep charging your account until they feel like stoping. The stores say lease to own but in reality the customers are jus leasing the merchandise and regardless of how much money u have paid out there is no way of ownership I myself have paid them 1300+ for a stove that costed me 400

Don't let these reviews deter you. These are people with $#*!ty credit and don't read the contracts. Why not lease it doesn't cheat or hide things. If these people bothered to read the paperwork the terms are very clear up front. I suspect they are so hyped to get that new appliance for such a small amount down they don't do their homework. Whynotlease offers a payoff option after 90 days that if you plan you pay about 10% above store price. Once you past that date you are under a lease agreement that anyone with a high school education knows that it allows you to walk away with no further obligation or pay the lease fees and own it at higher price. This crying and blaming the company because YOU didn't read the terms is just simply your fault. I have bought 2 items because i didn't have the money or credit score to do so otherwise but i planned my payments out over 90 days and avoided all those extra fees.

Complete rip-off!
September 18, 2019

Purchased some items from Sears through why not lease it. Paid the items off 4 times! Called in and asked why we were over paying for the items when the contract should have been paid off and was told for $220 they would except payoff on the contract! Just today my husband had a credit alert that said Tempoe LLC collections of $925 for whynotleaseit! This is a bunch of crooks!

HOW COULD THIS BE LEGAL?
January 18, 2018

I have NEVER felt like I have been so ripped off in my life! This $349.00 TV after all the payments will cost me over $1,100.00. The Kmart employee didn't mention any of this, AND try to deal with Why Not Lease customer service. Unless you want to get seriously rectally screwed I would stay away from this company. We quit shopping at Kmart because of this.

RUN TO THE LAUNDRY MAT!
February 20, 2019

In a desperate need for a dryer. I leased my dryer from Seas with teh "why not lease it program." In exchanged I was given a extremely long lease contract/ Who has the time to read those with a fine tooth comb. Anyway I proceed with the lease. After 8 payments I call to make a payoff. I am then told that I can not and that there will be a $300.00 additional charge since I would have to confirm the lease into a renters agreement. By the way my purchase was $694.00, I paid $500, and now I have no option to pay off. The company wanted another 2 payments before they would let me go into a renters agreement and then pay off in 3 or 4 payments. Again my only goal during this call was to pay the appliance off. Long story short they would not accept payoff. DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.

I do not recommend them. I'll probably end up paying twice as much as what the item is worth. I got charged a late fee and the day isn't even over yet. TERRIBLE service! I do not recommend! Not even willing to help you. If i could them -100 stars i would because theyre that terrible! You're better off using a credit card with no interest if paid in full in a given amount of time!
