usenet.nl advertises the availability of resources that it turns out are not available. But you don't know that until you have signed up. So they promise a free 14-day trial, to convince people that it is worth investigating further.
Just one look reveals that there are few if any worthwhile resources to download and virtually nobody would ever willingly pay for membership. So usenet.nl have to make their money by ensuring a substantial fee becomes payable by every person who applies for the 14-day "free trial".
Some people have reported not realising that they were signing up to anything other than a free trial. That is because the advertised offer is designed to mislead. Other people have reported how difficult it is to cancel. Deliberately difficult, one assumes.
And usenet.nl knows that cautious people will choose not to enter their credit card or paypal details. So they scam those cautious people by instructing a debt collection agency to harass for payment of an invoice that has never been issued, in respect of services that were never used, knowing that the threat of imminent legal action (with ever increasing "legal costs") will eventually wear down even the most resilient law-abiding citizen.
Very easy to register, very difficult to leave! Don't go there! Just, don't! I couldn't even use the software to download the files I wanted. So I wanted to leave immediatly after registration.
They have your credit card number at that point, and to leave, you need to click several times on a small "continue" button which does not obviously lead you to the cancellation page your are looking for! In the end, after several "continue" clicks, they ask you to call them by phone (!)... at certain opening times... Last and not least, you need to type your Personal ID in the phone! And this ID is DIFFERENT from your username! X_x
I got scammed too but called paypall and visa for disputes and got my money back and they got banned from future billing with visa after i showed them the review sites. Thx for your comment.
Trying to register while constantly showing "password not long enough"
This is not acceptable for a "secured business".
Did not subscribe to their site or service. Don't even know what UsenetNL is did not hear of this company until recently my bank called me and told me I was debited the amount of USD99.00 by a certain UsenetNL. How can I get debited when I did not even subscribe to their service or anything?
Misleading trial information and lack of information. Be warned - they'll smack you for 99 Euro after 14 days although it isn't clear on the website as to the amount. AND the software doesn't work.
Yesterday, i start free trail and provide them my cradit card details, and today 64 Rs are deducted from credit card without any OTP... i thought they can not get money from my cradit card without OTP... But 64 Rs are gone... i am tensed now... what shold i do... Please help... how to cancel this free trial... it is not a free...

Whatever you do, don't sign up for a trial. I had the same experience that the other reviewers had... files I saw listed as available, were not. I was searching for discontinued and out of print items and they were only listed with usenet. When I did the trial, none were actually available for download. I realize that usenet is a service and doesn't actually have the files, but when they put those items in their "you can download this" web page, that is deceptive. The other problem is the trial followed by automatic payment from your account. If you forget about this trial, as I did, they won't refund your money. They also never send reminders, because (I assume) they are hoping that we WILL forget and they can charge us. They simultaneously sent an invoice and charged me. If the invoice had been sent the day before, I could have cancelled at that time. I believe that everything this company does is calculated to maximize the chances that they can charge our accounts. I tried calling yesterday (sept 6) but they were offline. The contact form got me "we are too busy to respond" message. I called today to cancel and was rushed off the phone so fast that I had to call again to ask about a refund. They aren't particularly interested in the good will of their customers, which does place them in the company of scammers. Every customer they sign up is just a payday. They don't care if you like their service or not... it is irrelevant. They just want the money. Stay far away from this website.
I contacted the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre, please everyone do the same, we have to stop Usenet.nl
Here is the link: http://www.antifraudcentre.ca/reportincident-signalerincident/index-eng.htm
That s the only effective way to stop this fraudulent company
After i sew dey don't have white i won't i tried to cancel and it was a really hard process It seems like they want to force you to be charged the prescription fee And now I do understand why they are asking you to enter your credit card before your trial, To the conclusion i belief It's a great scam, So my friend check it out before you are prescribing!
They will steal $99 from you without permission or warning. This is not in accordance with their terms. I am filing a complaint with PayPal.
Do not do business with these European frauds.

So I asked them to cancel via email, because I couldn't afford it (I have a toddler to take care of. Kids are expensive). Then they sent me a letter in the mail saying "we ultimately demand you pay us or else we will ruin your credit score." Little did they know that I'm an RCMP officer, sent them a very angry email, and haven't heard back from them. Guess they don't like the idea of jail.
DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM AT ALL!
Stay away at all cost. They charge you money even during the free trial period and never refund afterwards. That's how they are making money. So you are warned!
Usenet.nl is a scam company. Do not sign up, do not use their services!
They offer a free trail with no commitment. Only require a credit card to sign up and we can cancel anytime. They even make it seem legit by offering Paypal payment.
Do not get fooled Paypal does not vet their partners business practices, it only offers a payment mode/gateway.
Usenet.nl's plan is very simple... they do not allow you to cancel. I tried many times, logging on, going into my account and clicking the "unsubscribe button". It automatically logs you out and returns to main homepage.
No website confirmation, no email confirmation.
I got cheated as I assumed that (my fault, i know!) that my cancellation is under process. What happened is that they just ignore the cancellation and charge the full USD 99 to your card once the trial period ends!
This is their automated reply. As it stands, there is probable no other way that to cancel my card and replace a new one with the bank, upsetting all my payment arrangements with my other legit vendors. Highly troublesome.
Zero stars rating if possible.

TRIED THE TRIAL AND WAS SENT A NOTICE THAT I WAS BEING CHARGED 99.00 EFFECTIVE THE NEXT DAY. I RESPONDED THE SAME DAY TO CANCEL THE TRIAL ONLY TO FINE OUT I HAD TO GO TO ANOTHER E MAIL LISTING TO CANCEL. THE ORIGINAL E MAIL WAS FROM A NON-RESPONSE SERVER. SO ONE DAY LATE AND THEY ARE COMMITTED TO KEEPING MY MONEY. POOR POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE! DO NOT JOIN OR TAKE OUT THE TRIAL MEMBERSHIP!
They changed their webplatform so you can no longer change you payment settings or cancel your trial period from the website. BUT THE AVERAGE RESPONSE TIME TO MAILS is THREE WEEKS - THREE WEEKS. Before they respond to requests they will sell their open receivables to a company in germany which will engage a lawyer at no time. Even after 3 monts I was not able to update the payment info because they provided a faulty payment Link. DO NOT EVEN ATTEMPT TO USE THEIR SERVICES IT IS CLOSE TO A SCAM... UNFORTUNATELY
Scam, scam, scam! After you have to call them to cancel the usernet.nl service which it didnt work, you (supossely) are signed up (mandatory) to a subscription that you are NOT interested in and get CHARGED 88 EUROS! They say they have sent you emails but this is not true and TARAAA! Your money is gone from your bank account. I am taking this to my legal services and take legal action against them!
Do not even try to use it. It is impossibble to cancel their "service".
They claim when you register - you sign a "contract" with them, which is a bull$#*!
Answer: I've been getting them for nearly a year now. Nothing has happend beyond getting letters
Answer: I subscribed to a 14 day trial and like many quickly was faced with the difficulty of unsubscribing and locked into a 1 year plan. They will hunt you down and make you pay with a debt collector, so the only viable push back is legal support. If this has happened to you, report it to econsumer.gov and your local authorities, the more of us who report it, the more likely they will be investigated and face criminal charges.
Answer: They took money from me too but Paypal reversed it! They continued to send me me letters each time upping the amount. I have just this minute spoken to a Paypal adviser. Who said.`Don`t worry theres nothing they can do. Paypal have jurisdiction over them. If Paypal decides they are fraudulant theres nothing they can do! If they continue to harass you got to the police and ask for a harassment form... ignore them don`t pay ANYTHING TO THEM!
Answer: I haven't paid and I won't, if you ignore it as I am, then, if they want to peruse the matter they would have to get a court order to send in the bailiffs. I highly doubt they would attempt this, as shady companies, a, do t want to raise attention to their dubious practices and b) they wouldn't win anyway, as I've never even used this services what evidence could they present? It's worth noting that such threating letters could easily be deemed as harassment and you have every right to contact the police and press criminal charges!
Answer: Yes you can. With my experience working with them it's either going to be far easier or the only way to go through PayPal versus going to them directly
