I have been a member since 2000 and until a few weeks ago have been very happy with them. I can no longer get into my account which means I can't shop through their website and no longer earn dollars. I have sent emails and all I get is an email saying I need to enable cookies on my computer. That is not the problem. I have friends and family members that are having the same problem. When trying to login I keep getting the message "email address and password don't match". I change the password and get the same message. There is definitely a problem with the Upromise website.

Upromise changed their program & I haven't been getting any rewards for my grandchildren. I used to receive a lot of rewards in the past. I registered all my credit cards & when I shopped in certain stores or bought certain products I would receive rewards.

They changed the program & I didn't even know it. Now you get NO credit when you shop in the stores & if you shop online you HAVE to go through their website not directly through the store's website. I haven't received rewards for the last few years because of this change.

I do not elect to have my online shopping earnings deposited into a 529 account. I have chosen to have the earnings automatically transfer to my checking account once I have accumulated $10. Did a lot of online shopping on Black Friday, and there were some excellent discounts and higher than normal upromise earnings. Have been receiving my earnings as promised. If you are getting a special offer by email from a company (eg a vitamin company) double check the final price if going through UPromise and make sure you are getting the same discount. This doesn't seem to be an issue with most stores such as Kohls. A stores Upromise % earnings may fluctuate but they will be clearly stated and some promotions are exceptional. I have earned $279 so far and it has been paid to me. I would have earned more, but I often forget to log in through UPromise.
It's easy to log in; I just forget about it sometimes. Really like the automatic transfer of my earnings.

Upromise is a rebate website. They have stores you shop from and you: get a percentage payback of what you spend. For example: Store A offers 5% payback, you get 5 dollars. AND if you open their credit card (mastercard) you most of the time receive another 5% payback. Easy math... 10 dollars payback. Small purchases add up. They offer ways to save for college with savings accounts that you can have them automatically transfer your paybacks to and earn interest. It is fun and they come through for you.

Would you believe I've had an account with them for 17 years! I had forgotten about it. After 17 years, I accumulated a grand total of $9.81. I guess some of my shopper cards got unlinked.
OK, so little beer money is ok. I tried to cash it out, but the minimum about to cash out on the website is $10.00 dollars. So, it won't let me since I'm. 19 cents short (after 17 years)
I shoot them a quick customer service request to please send me the check for $9.81.
Denied!
What a bunch of arseholes. So now, I have to link cards and try to earn another 19 cents in a few months? They really could have helped out a customer and sent me the check.

This is a complete scam. It has caused nothing but hassles and the customer support is terrible and poorly trained. They make up policies or they don't follow up after you make copies and document the transaction and pay the postage to mail to them.

I ofter use upromise.com to book hotels. I know they are not reliable but they do offer much higher percentage of cash back so I always decide to take a risk. I always write everything down, confirmation #, date, which computer I used to make reservation, even the ip address of the computer. Then I had to fight with urpmise.com one by one. Sometimes I won, sometime I didn't. Now I am thinking that is too much work. I'll use other cash back sites from now on.

Not worth it
May 19, 2021

I have had this card for years. I recently lost my card so got new ones but kept getting charges even though it was never activated. Asked to have fraud investigation and for the account to be closed in January. February the card was still charged, March the card was charged, April the card was charged and I received a notification that the card had finally been cancelled. Talking with the rep today the card is still active (even though it has never been "activated").

I used Upromise a lot back in the early 2000s. Now I cannot access my account. I have tried the password reset many times. I have sent 6 emails and filled out their online form 3 times. Spent the last 3 weeks trying to access my account. I did receive one email from asking for more information. I sent the info they asked for, but never heard from them again. They sent me an email saying that I had $1700 in my account and I need to access it soon, or they will turn the money over to my state. I still use the same email address I did since 1997. 3 weeks trying, but no luck accessing my account yet. I will still keep trying.

I have requested my transfer for over 2 months. I have over 700.00. I call everyday and the call center not in the US tells me it's 5-7 days and has said this now for over a month. No one will answer an email or call back.

They took my money. I had an account and they say they have no record of it. Because of that, I have no access to that money as they claim it doesn't exist.

To continue from the title of my review... they would be 4-5 stars if they actually tracked and deposited all the cash back we have earned without us having to track everything like the FBI. For sites like Ace Hardware, 800flowers, Walmart, the cash back deposits are never a problem. For travel sites including Marriott, Hotwire, and other consumer sites including SportsmansGuide, they NEVER have deposited the cash back unless I wait the allotted 30-90 day waiting period and then contact Upromise. They then take a minimum of 30-60 days to respond, and when they have deposited, they don't use the same order number or tracking so that we can verify which purchases have been deposited and which are missing. It is a huge headache that has us wondering why we spend the time, effort, and energy to get the cash back.

Where to begin...UPromise is aptly named. You promise to follow the rules, purchase through their website, upload receipts, encourage family to contribute, link a 529 because who doesn't want to be a good parent and contribute to their kids college fund right? What we as customer expect in return is that they in turn will keep their promises to pay what they falsely advertise, care about our time and effort, invest in their reputation, and be a basic ethical company...FALSE! Linked a 529 and it took them 3 months to figure out their mistake before I finally got my money back. I have invested weeks of my time (8 hour shifts) correcting their mistakes. Their app NEVER works, they offer zero customer service, zero tech support, they fail to keep promises, you can't talk to anyone, and they put you through olympic hurdle tryouts just to get pennies...but it's the point behind it. If you put in writing that you will give $4 for 2 Garnier plus $2 for a star purchase than do it! If you make a mistake do it the first time I ask, don't make it impossible to send pics of proof, don't ignore me making me submit 6 tickets, and then have the nerve to say the receipt wasn't read right by your vendor so according to terms and conditions you're under no obligation to fulfill your promise! We learn before we are 5 to keep our word! You claim to be pro-family but you're just a scam. Shame on you!

I took out a Upromise card many many years ago and set up a 529 college account. We linked the 2 so cash back from the credit card went into the 529 account. We were able to get the 529 money to the universities where our kids attended (needed help from the 529 people but they were kind and helpful).
Barclays Bank bought the UPromise credit cards. NOW upromise and upromise.com are worthless. I wanted to close out my 529 account (successful) and UNLINK it from this credit card. But Upromise.com will not let me log in -- THERE IS NO UPROMISE CUSTOMER SERVICE ANY LONGER. No phone number and help emails say they will get back to you in 30 DAYS!
I spoke to Barclays and they cannot unlink the card and the 529 account. Going to have to cancel this credit card -- no choice since Upromise is no longer alive and well.
Dissapointing and disappointed.

Worst service EVER!
March 7, 2022

If there was a "MINUS STARS" category, I would give this operation some. I can't tell you how many times I've tried to reach them only to be told after a half hour on the phone that no one was available and then they hung up! They have had my money for years and I am trying to get it transferred to no avail. BAD operation!

Best cash back % site
September 17, 2016

I started using Upromise since 2011 after I applied for a Upromise credit card. For the marjority part of it Upromise offers the highest cash back rebate % (5% + 5% when paid with a Upromise cr card) unless other similar cash back sites have special promo. Every now and then Upromise would have special promo for Tuesday, where you get 10% cash back instead of the normal 5% on certain stores, that's a total of 15% cash back!

My experience with Upromise has been good so far. However, I always make sure that I am login to my Upromise account right before I place my order with any particular site because I noticed that after awhile if you idled for too long and didn't submit your order you will be logout from your Upromise account. I am not sure if this would affect how Upromise keeps track of your purchases, perhaps that's why some people didn't get their rebates. Anyway this is just my personal experience and opinion.

I've had password trouble since March and go round and round with a robot named
Hasniah (Upromise) or
Upromise Member Suppport (Upromise) or Compliance (Upromise)
With pretty much the same non results. The automatic password tells me it works then it doesn't. They requested I send my dirver's license, I'm not feeling good about that now. They have no live person to speak with. The only thing I can think of is they are in financial trouble. Something is wrong that is for sure.

BROKEN " UPROMISE"
March 10, 2009

BROKEN " UPROMISE" - Don't fall for the "promise" on Upromise web site for Reduced energy bills if you switch your energy supplier to Energy Plus Holdings. My bill went up $125 from what it would have been with my previous supplier. Then, when I went to cancel, I was told I had to wait through another billing cycle, so this "Promise" may cost me a few hundred dollars by the time I switch back!

Do your research, don't believe the misleading statements on Upromise. Better check out their other "deals" before you sign up too! Neither company would help me in any way.

I have not been able to access my account for almost one week. I did not change my password--I know this because I have a password keeper app. I have tried resetting my password several times. Now my account is "deactivated." I have called Customer Service four times, all anding up being disconnected after 10+ minutes of holding. I sent an email to their Support department, and was sent a password reset link, but that link ended up being a link to the sign in page. Sent them 2 additional emails--no response! I am amazed at how unresponsive, unhelpful and poorly managed UPROMISE's customer service is. COMPLETELY UNHELPFUL. If I could give them zero stars, I would. Awful.
