I'm trying to buy over the counter products that are approved in my plan via the APP and MANY phones calls to Customer Service and yet EVERY time I purchase them they come out of my Rewards account and NOT out of my OTC account like they should. I've now spent over FOUR hours on the phone with more than SIX people and the answer is TOO BAD SO SAD! That's how their computer works and there is nothing they can do to help me! What kind of customer service or stupid computer system is this?

I had standard preventative bloodwork requested by my physician, following up on an annual preventative appointment. My doctor had literally put in all the requests as 100% preventative. Every code that was submitted by Quest Diagnotics (who performed the bloodwork) was preventative Z00.00.

Of all the bloodwork preventative tests (totaling over $600), United Healthcare only paid $18. Of it. They also decided to override my doctor's instructions and stated that SOME of the bloodwork wasn't considered "preventative" (even though UHC are NOT licensed doctors). This was disputed by my physician AND Quest Diagnotics - as they all stated that it ALL was considered "preventative."

As a result, UHC REFUSTED to pay for all of my bloodwork (even though they were getting $600. A month from my in premiums) - and, according to my phone call to them, before I had the bloodwork done, they told me that ALL THE BLOODWORK would be considered "preventative" and they would pay for all of it.

I've reported them to the State Insurance Commissioner -and they did nothing, as they're more of a just a mediator. There's NO ONE really governing this entity, so they continue to deny claims that they're supposed to pay and it would require a lawyer to hold them accountable.

Terrible coverage
August 10, 2023

I have had their dental plan, they cover next to nothing, use verious excuses to avoid paying. What they offer cannot be called insurance, you are better off with no insurance instead of UHC.

Pathetic
August 8, 2023

Dehumanizing chatbots leading you nowhere but backwards. If you manage to get a human, its a scripted pseudo polite parrot that is powerless to actually dig into any issues but will keep you on the line for hours. The billing is a nightmare.even if you pay the whole year premium they continue to bill you throughout the year. They don't recognize my PCP so that's huts me off from receiving care. I just go to Mexico or Canada & pay out of pocket

United Healthcare gave me a referral to GPW Health Center in Dumfries, VA, it is very difficult getting a primary care physician in Stafford, VA. School is about to start, nephew need a physical and this facility turn me away because I didn't have court papers saying who I was to my nephew who is 17yr old. I called UHC telling them the situation and there is not another doctor in their network within a 20mile radius. GPW sent me a text saying they are sorry I missed my appointment:
I didn't miss my appointment, you turned me away because I don't look like you, talk like you or have the same situation as you. Who walks around with court documents proving who they are. Maybe Hispanic people do but Americans don't do that.
We're all one people with one common goal...
If you have policy, it should noted prior to one's appointment and it should be posted where it can be seen by all patients.
Nephew still doesn't have a PCP and will return to school this fall without a sports physical.

Not good Insurance
August 5, 2023

Wouldn't recommend, none of the agents can give a straight answer. They can't explain anything on your plan. You can't understand all the foreigners and nobody speaks clear English. They dont even cover birth control pills like every single other insurance does. A very small list, and expects you to switch after being on one for years that finally works. It shows your benefits cover an office visit but then it doesn't and you have to submit your claim over and over before they finally pay. It's a mess and takes hours on the phone to get a clear straight answer. Not a good company at all. Go with BCBS

I am a new employee. I had questions about the plans offered ---basic ppo, high ded, and buy-up ppo. Very GENERAL QUESTIONS. United Healthcare was AWESOME! First they asked me my name, and member ID and group number (which I don't have), then they transferred me about 20 times. I love it. I asked to speak with a supervisor who transferred me as well because she did not handle this information. When I finally found a group number, they asked me to spell the name of my company/employer, when I did they stated that it does not match--that there are too many versions of the same company (there is only one in the entire world). When I called prior to this, with just the name of the company, they stated that they needed the group number. With only the name they could not help me--I needed to be transferred--I just was so happy about this! Poor overseas employees. Their customer service is plain horrible and atrocious. They should just automate this or post everything online and fire everyone. Literally, would be better if live people did not answer calls.

No Customer Service - Items Never In Stock
August 2, 2023

UnitedHealthcare OTC is a joke. They are usually out of stock on the items you need and you cannot carry over the allowance to the next period. I placed a $60 order 3 months ago that never shipped. After 6 frustrating phone calls and multiple emails, still no product. The order shows "Pending" on my account but they can't tell you anything about it. Their Customer Service department is a useless call center in the Philippines that only has the ability to read back to you what is on your online account. Can't wait to switch to a better company as soon as my plan ends.

Horrible!
August 2, 2023

Horrible customer service, a lot of outsourced customer service representatives who barely speak English, a lot of misinformation about whether or not providers are in network, wastes countless hours on the phone with many calls being over 3 hours long even for matters that should be relatively simple, lots of very rude transfers mid-sentence, often a fight to get a word in edgewise with them.

I was evicted because your people have no brains they didn't care that ist hot and the air is bad. I have to live in my care in the heat with breathing problems. They didn't care that I have to eat uncooked food. Two days in a row I ate nothing but cake someone brought me. That's real healthy and you say you want the elderly to be safe and healthy I say what a pack of lies you should not be in business. I have been with your company for a long time and have never seen or felt the way you people have made me feel. So I am going to post everything bad I can think of about my treatment on Facebook and tell all my friends what you have done to me. In the beginning I just wanted a hand written apology but you couldn't even do that maybe I can convince enough people to change to another insurance company.

I received the visa for the home visit, I activated it and went to use it 2 hrs later and the money was gone. I made a complaint to the # and 6 weeks later not a word! I may contact visa international and tell them their visa name is being used to scam people!

My husband's union switched our plan from Blue Advantage to United Healthcare as of July 1. While we haven't yet used it for any actual office visits, our first foray into the world of prescription drugs with them has been a total nightmare. We've spent nearly a week trying to straighten out my husband's scripts through their partner Optum Rx. What a joke! United claims the plan will cover a "brand" med, but not its generic -- even though Dr. has requested a formulary exception to do so. (Optum Rx quoted one price online, charged 20x that when they sent the bill!) Also required to have ALL NEW REFERRALS made by my PCP for specialists I have been seeing for 8+ years! I thought we were in the year 2023, not the stone age. And isn't it ironic that if you try Googling United Healthcare, the results only return glowing reviews of how wonderful they are. If you have any say-so about who your insurance carrier is, DO NOT USE UNITED HEALTHCARE.

Absolute scumbags
July 28, 2023

My prescriptions are constantly getting denied, upon pushing UHC, they 'discover' these are actually covered. I can't get a penny out of my HSA for any number of dozens of treatments explicitly stated to be allowed. I hate hate hate this company and wish I didn't have health insurance.

Spoke to one of their live reps to try and find a doctor. The customer service rep sounded not very bright and they weren't. They couldn't even look up my member number. Then they left the line and when they got back on told me my insurance account had been deleted and they would forward me to sales! I knew the account was active as I've been using my insurance in the last week and was logged into my account online! Just hung up on the fool before they did manage to find my account and delete it. An utter waste of time! The person was the dumbest customer service I've ever spoken to in my life and I've been alive decades!

I'm a disabled person and I have had this insurance for 2 years and my complaint is the transportation services through comfort care transportation, I choose this insurance for medical rides mainly, I have missed 5 appointments because either they don't call or show up or they keep you stranded at your doctor's appointments! I have had test that I have missed because no show, and the supervisor don't do anything about it and continue to use these services and vendors every time they send there contract vendor premier medical they never show up! This is ridiculous they should be shut down for how they test us seniors.it takes a while to get medical appointments and even longer when you miss why should we have to be denied medical services because of our insurance medical rides? It's not right and it's a form of neglect to the elderly and seniors! Please pass this on they need slot of attention to them because of unreliable service! Don't sign your live ones up for this state insurance company you will regret it! I'm calling the news in Dallas to let them know what is going on with this company!

OTC sucks!
July 15, 2023

Some many products are backordered. They don't tell you unless you call. It can take weeks or months to get even needed items. They will not even consider a refund for 12 working days. I was denied a refund even though I was waiting months. The customer service call center is understaffed and overburdened so hold times even for talking to a supervisor can be almost an hour. UHC customer service is not much better.
