I am truly shocked that Pearson is the majority stockholder in this company. This is one of the worst scams out there. My complaints:
1) The online salesman offered me 2 additional hours if I "joined right now!" No additional hours were received when I joined.
2) I had TWO tutors waste my time--by wasting my minutes. For example, one gave me a salutation then sat and did nothing when I presented my statistics problem. The other tutor came into the "room" and promptly left. More than 10 minutes were wasted from my 2 hour sessions.
3) I was told that I could (if I subscribed, of course) try TutorVista for 72 hours free. If I didn't like the service, I could call their 1-800 number and cancel. Their 1-800 number is a voicemail. It says that they take calls between certain hours, but no one answers if you try during those times, either. I called within 16 hours and left a message. My card was still charged.
4) I decided to file a dispute. The card services customer service rep tried looking for an email to send a request for cancellation and could not find one. The email they have listed is not for cancellations. The only way you can cancel is by going online with one of their tutors who waste your money by not communicating with you.
5) The customer service representative is confident I will get reimbursed for their obvious negligence and fraud, but do yourself a favor. Don't get involved with this company--it's not worth the headache or frustration. They are Pearson owned (a shock to me), but it's obvious they are run by scam artists in India, Pakistan, etc.
I asked for help and all this idiot would do was insult me and said they would track me down using my ip address. Are you tutorvista people just bloody dense?

The chat advisor was rude, and insulted my intelligence. The tutor was extremely unhelpful and could hardly speak English. Glad I only did the demo- what a waste of time and money

Foreign country tutoring! What can I say... the tutoring was great but I paid for 36 hours of tutoring, only used 6 hours and they charged my credit card the second month without my authorization! So that was $89 for 36 hours plus $129 for a 2nd month! What!
I called and they refused to reverse the payment and said they could exchange it for two months of tutoring. I contacted my credit card company, they opened a case and my credit card company credited back the charge plus 30 hours that I never used! My credit card company said they'd investigate and Tutorvista had to show proof thatI used 36 that I paid for and consent for the 2nd charge. Tutorvista doesn't have that information or cannot justify their actions!
People, it's not worth it! You're dealing with foreigners and they have access to your credit card! DON'T DO IT!
Use U.S. Companies or a local school or college because if you think you're saving money, you're not, you're going to end up paying more and you may not be as lucky with the credit card company (Capital One)crediting back your money!

I would say that TutorVista was helpful, but needs improvement. I found that some of the tutors were unable to help me solve certain problems and almost all of the tutors were very slow in responding. Because the tutors were so slow, I felt that it was a waste of money in comparison to a in-person meeting, which would cover much more material in a shorter amount of time.

It was ok in the beginning but as my assignments got more complicated I could not get expert answers to my questions. Used up minutes waiting on responses and I felt like I had to do too much explaining to the tutor.
