The potential for individuals to become victims of scams while investing with this entity raises serious questions about the reliability of the website. Customer service has become inaccessible, and the communication channels are no longer functioning properly. Furthermore, responses to emails concerning legitimate reports are significantly delayed. Nevertheless, a recovery expert at Bellguarding****C O M, was instrumental in helping me recover my funds.
I AM A TRADESMEN ON TRUST A TRADER. [KTJ PLASTERING] I PAID £1,100 [ONE THOUSAND ONE HUNDRED.NOT CHEAP] 4 MONTHS IN,I HAVENT HAD 1 LEAD NOR 1 INQUIRY FROM TRUST A TRADER,,. I KEEP GETTING TOLD PUT MORE REVIEWS ON [ HOW CAN YOU DO THIS IF YOU DONT GET ANY WORK FROM THEM] A FRIEND OF MINE JOINED CHECK A TRADE ROUGHLY THE SAME TIME AS ME, HE HAS LESS REVIEWS ON HIS PAGE THAN MINE ON TRUST A TRADER, HOW EVER HE HAS HAD OVER 20 INQUIRES WITH CHECK A TRADE. I WILL KEEP UPDATING IF ANYTHING CHANGES, BUT TO BE FRANK I DONT HOLD MUCH HOPE OUT. IS IT £1100 WASTED.
I HAVE CANCELLED. IT DID NOT WORK FOR ME, HOWEVER TRUSTATRADER ARE GOING TO GIVE MY MONEY BACK. AS STATED NOT FOR ME.
Went to 5* rated plumber. Messy service & left boiler leaking & all attempts to contact him were ignored. Had to get another out. Complained to Trustatrader - toothless - just put a strike against his name! He is STILL on their recommended list
Had a painter come in to decorate after finding them on trust a trader. The decorator was appalling and did not prep any of the wood work, he sprayed paint everything including a £3000 door that he did not cover. Long story short he walked of the job after paying him £1000 and I've had to get another person in to take everything back it its original state and re-decorate. Contacted Trust a trader who were not interested as the decorator had taken himself off the site after our job and there was nothing they could do apart from offering to send me a copy of their vetting process! Avoid at all costs as their vetting process let's anyone in, even the cowboys. Like my builder said to me, if you are a good enough tradesman you will not need to pay for a membership to trust a trade, you will get enough work through recommendations and word of mouth! Do not use trust a trader!
I have had several jobs done by John and his team now. From fence replacment to bathroom refurbishment and the last job to put up an outside light. They provide a professional service, very trustworthy and clean up everything, and are more than happy to do any size of job. I can thoroughly recommend them.
The owner is fabulous. He is full of great ideas in relation to any work you put his way but ultimately is a good listener and does EXACTLY what you want and pay him to do. His skills are brilliant and he does most of the work - fetching experts in a particular field only if necessary. This saves on time and money and work is taken forward promptly and to a high quality.
I chose my plumber based on all his 5 star reviews. My experience with the plumber was not 5 star, When I submitted my review, I received emails from 'trust a trader' which I duly answered in full. I undoubtedly had a case that my experience indeed was not 5 star, but even though verified as my honest opinion, my review will never be posted. Of course not - the trader pays for the service and now I notice ONLY 5 star reviews appear on the site! I will never use such a site again.
Hi I have had a excellent guy Chris Kerton from TRUST A TRADER he saved me money after having a mega leak in my bathroom. He took out my shower units out replaced the shower unit and resealed the all the lot at a decent price and they come back if needed. And I didn't get ripped off. He love his brews. I would definitely use him again.
The tradesman did an appalling job with my flooring which resulted in me having to completely remove it and replace it at considerable expense. I contacted TrustATrader with all the evidence. Dealing with this company was traumatic. They did ever thing in their power to stop me posting a negative review. The person I dealt with was rude and dismissive. I was viewed as an irritant and an inconvenience. Clearly this company is only interested in posting postive reviews. Avoid using TrustATrader, their sole focus is on preventing any negative reviews been posted so that they can keep the traders on their site so they can pocket their commission
TrustATrader gets nothing but a big thumbs up from me, I've had the fortune of meeting Gary the owner - simply a down to earth amiable man who is passionate about the customers and tradesman in equal measure. Highly recommended. If only other UK Businesses shared the same ethos.
Ben Sturge.
I would love to know what the Trust A Trader vetting process is for their traders as we have just dealt with an absolute cowboy (John Blackburn, New Garden Landscaping) who has left us with an unfinished garden, all of his waste and (now that we have complained) is saying we owe him money! Trust A Trader have done ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to assist us in their 'mediation'. We provided evidence including bank transactions, photos and videos of shoddy workmanship and waste, text message evidence - all of this to dispute the traders lies but Trust A Trader have not bothered to look at any of it. They also flagged my partner and I's Trust Pilot reviews for them so they couldn't be seen, and refused to post our bad review for the trader on their site for weeks while they "investigated". They will do EVERYTHING they can to avoid bad reviews being posted, and their customer service team (I'm looking at you Julie Rutherford) are terrible. Avoid this company like the plague!
They don't post negative reviews so you don't have a full picture of the person you are potentially hiring to do your job. This is completely irresponsible. We ended up being stung by a rogue trader who took our money and didn't carry out the work and Trust a Trader were unhelpful and my negative review won't be posted and the guy will go on to do the same to another poor person. It's disgusting that Trust a Trader are not just letting this happen, by actively deceiving us by removing negative reviews and even helping these crooks. Disgusting - how can you sleep at night?!
Found a damp proof company (with 20 excellent reviews) on trustatrader.
Came round stuck a moisture monitor in my walls and said I had rising dam on two walls. Didn't even test if rising damp or penetrating damp and I have a clearly visible damp proof course.
Told me he could do the work the following weekend or if we wanted it done next week it would be more.
Honestly, how can this possibly be a trusted trader?
Overcharged. Work was so poor that I have had to pay someone else to do it properly. When I wrote a bad review the trader messaged me with a threat. When I passed this on to the site they agreed to remove my review. So I guess this explains why there are such good reviews. The site must agree with traders ripping off and making threats to users
I have contacted Trust A Trader several times about a company listed on their site, who has after 6 months failed to finish a job that was quoted to take 6 weeks, they have missed loads of appointments and everything they have done so far has been substandard and not to building regs. They have cause damage to my property and tried to cover up bad workmanship. Having posted a review about them on Trust a Trader backed up by emails and photos. Trust A Trader will not post the review and no one there will answer my calls or emails to discuss it.
Obvious to me this site only exists as an advertising platform for traders and is only willing to post positive reviews to encourage companies to stay with them. How can you trust a site that will not post a genuine and accurate review just because its bad?
I contacted TrustATrader to ask about a builder who had 5 reviews posted (all with 5 stars) within less than a month. They were totally uncooperative and stalling with every email. Half the time they could not be bothered to read correctly. I had submitted reviews previously about the builder, but as predicted none of them were published/posted.
Use with caution!
This website is only built with the traders in mind. Customers leaving feedback of less than 60% will automatically get "referred" and nearly always never get posted on the site. I had a guy from Quest Landscapes in Canterbury come to landscape my garden, and 1 month after getting to quote, 48 hours before the work was due to start he asked for 90% payment before completion. I tried to leave a review about this but the site came back saying because he didnt get a chance to do the work it can't be posted!
Apparently there is another side of them one cannot see and this is about builders been able to talk down customers, a builder told me.
Never ever managed to get somebody professional from any of those sites, those builders are extremely aggressive even swearing by text, missing appointments or/and charging the earth saying if they are on the site then it is because they are good. If they are so good, would they be on those sites, I very much doubt. I am a woman off 69 years on my own so I have to be careful who I let into my property and frankly I have found most of them so bad manners I would not be able to trust them.
Absolutely appalling.
Long story short the builder we found on the site refused to finish the work (because he was 'not well enough'). He left with £20k of our money - we have a quantity surveyors report that arrived at that figure - and despite numerous discussions with trust a trader he is still on their website and to make matters worse he is a 'featured trader'
Their mediation service is a joke; we sent them a 50pg quantity surveyor report detailing the work done and the balance paid and the amount that the builder should refund us. Their mediation consisted of sending him the report and then telling us he disagreed. End of story.
We know this builder has done the same to another couple & mentioned that to trust a trader. We found human excrement in the garden after they had been working, they lost our door key and didn't tell us for nearly a month. Trust a trader really don't care.
Honestly, the traders are their customers, not the consumers and it shows.
They won't let you leave a bad review before going through their joke of a mediation service either - so I can imagine a lot of people don't bother, it's all setup in favour of keeping the traders on there (and presumably collecting their fee).
I posted a genuine negative review but it has not appeared on the site and I have not been contacted per their review process. How can you "Trust" any of the Traders on the site if they don't post negative reviews? I won't be using them again.
Hi Matt, thank you for your review. Here at TrustAtrader we take negative reviews very seriously and always investigate each negative review before they are posted. This can sometimes take some time and may be a reason to why the negative review has not been published yet. We do publish negative reviews and if you would like to find out a bit more about our negative review process, you can find it here: https://www.trustatrader.com/the-review-process
If you would like to find out about your negative review, please do get in touch with us and we will be more than happy to answer any questions.
Answer: Hi Laura, A fully legitimate company. We carefully vet all tradespeople - more rigorously than most competitors and also all reviews. We also post both positive and negative reviews - which people get hung up on as their specific review didn't meet our guidelines. We are interested in helping to eliminate rogue traders, which is why traders who do not meet our high levels of service get removed. Please visit our website - https://www.trustatrader.com and get in touch should you have any further questions.
Answer: Hi Rosemary, If you visit our site and enter your postcode, you can find a range of vetted tradespeople who will be able to help - https://www.trustatrader.com/heating-engineers-gas-fitters Thank you
