My girlfriend and I took a trip to Key West over the Christmas holiday and I thought we should try Trivago for our hotel booking on New Years. Historically, Ihave booked almost everything I dothroughHotels.com or Orbitz, but I had just watched an interview on Bloomberg with Trivago's CEO and was impressed enough to give them a try. Key West is usually sold out during New Years, or hotels make you book a minimum of three nights because of the high demand. So I was doubly excited when we were able to pull up just one night at one of the Waldorf hotels on Trivago offered through one of their partner sites. We promptly booked it only to find out it was too good to be true. The partner site was based in Istanbul and never sent any confirmation... because it turned out there never was one. The site didn't actually have to ability book a hotel in the Waldorf's database, but still charged our card. We were fortunate to get the charged reverse by our credit card company, but I was really shocked to have such a shady experience through Trivago. I may try them one more time, but I recommend you be very cautious.

I booked online through Trivago (Get a Room) at a hotel for the stated price, got a confirmation email that everything was booked and confirmed with the hotel... THEN found out I had been booked at an entirely (much less desirable) hotel. When I called several times and spend HOURS on the phone to try to get it straightened out, Trivago and Get a Room "customer service" said it wasn't their fault and disputed that I had received the confirmation email. When I offered to forward the email, they said they "didn't have the option to receive emails" and therefore couldn't verify that what I said was true. The only option they would offer was to cancel for a refund or book at the hotel I originally booked at for double the price. NOT HAPPY! BEWARE.

I reserved a hotel and I was trying to reserve a hotel in Astoria Oregon It gave me a list of hotels to choose from course I pick the one that was the lowest price from the list they provided. They put a hotel in the list for Lincoln Illinois that was not identified under the hotels that was listed under Astoria Oregon. elvoline.com I guess is partnered with Trivago. Elvoline said not there problem to bad to sad. They brought it to trivago. Trivago said they fixed the site but elvoline said they will not return my money or put toward another hotel in Astoria Oregon because it's not their problem I still I'm waiting for a call back from Trivago. But n call cack. I got 2 emails generic from Trivago one said they call me in 2 days and the other said 5 days still haven't heard from them. Its been over 5 days If I were you looking for a hotel I would not use either one of these service. They don't care and they dont seem to have any customer service skill anyone want anymore information please feel free to reach out. *******@gmail.com.

I booked a hotel 3/4/20 for 2/19/21 for my 50th birthday and received and itinerary the next day that says cannot cancel or amend and $678 was drafted through my Visa. I called the hotel and they have no idea who I am. They said to call closer to my trip. I called today, 12 days before my trip and they said my reservation doesn't exist (even have a confirmation number) and that have have not been paid for my trip. I reached out to cancelon support (who they make you pay with and emails your itinerary) and they only send automated emails that my trip may have been cancelled due to Covid. I am unable to get ANY help from Trivago, no number to call, the app is useless and not customer service chat to be found. I called the hotel again and they said that they have not been over booked and no hotels rooms were cancelled due to Covid at anytime. If my trip was cancelled, nobody told me in almost a year and where is my $678? I have had loss in hours due to Covid and CANNOT afford to lose $678 of money I worked for with no reservation! I filed a complaint with BBB! I feel I have been completely taken advantage of and plan to let the world know what a rip off Trivago is along with the "cancelon.com" party they use to make you pre pay for your trip!

Always keep in mind that Trivago is a PRICE COMPARISON SITE! It is NOT a booking site! And to be honest it is a good price comparison site with a modern design and very easy to use.

The filter options are perfect (Stars, Rating, Price, Distance). I wonder why the hell anyone comlains about this site?!

Hell night
January 13, 2017

Trivago completely messed up my reservation and once I arrived at the hotel (they had the wrong date thank you Trivago!) the hotel said they had nothing to do with the TRIVAGO reservation and I would have to call them. No telephone number was given, I had to do it online. It was late I was exhausted and I couldn't change the reservation. I was unable to do anything until I checked in. I will NEVER USE THEM AGAIN.

Dear Derald,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

We would really like you to get in touch with us directly at info@trivago.com with all relevant info so that we can assist you.

If you could answer the following questions when you email us that would be great:
Are you receiving actual emails to your inbox, or are you seeing an advertisement on the side of your screen? If it is the former, could you please tell us the email address of the sender that you have been receiving the mails from? If you could forward one of the emails that would be very helpful.

If it is the later, then the email in question is actually a sponsored advert displayed in your inbox. Unfortunately, trivago has no control over whether you can block or delete these adverts. We would recommend contacting your email provider for further information on this.

We look forward to hearing from you at your earliest convenience.

Kind regards,
Trivago User support.

Preys on small businesses
December 18, 2017

In November of 2016, after contact with a Trivago representative, I agreed to purchase a Trivago PRO listing for my small, three room bed and breakfast.

On November 17,2017, I received email notification that my PRO listing had been successfully renewed. This new subscription will have a new term of 12 month(s) after the current one ends".

At 2:42 AM on 11/17/17, immediately upon seeing the notice of the annual renewal, I emailed Trivago telling them I did not want to renew. At 2:44 AM I received an email from Trivago Subject: Your request has been received - please do not reply to this email stating they would send a reply as soon as possible.

My refusal of the renewal was one day prior to the expiration of the 2016 annual subscription which began on 11/18/2017.

Unbeknownst to me, automatic renewal was instituted by Trivago when the PRO account was set up a year ago. This is something that I did not and would not have agreed to. Why would anyone agree to automatic renewal with no track record of how effective the first year's service would be? They wouldn't.

Trivago is a horrible, greedy, sneaky company whose main goal seems to be to take money from small lodging owners. I received no business from my first year's listing with them and yet have been forced to pay for another year's subscription. $415.96 for two year's of NO return. Small business owners beware!. DO NOT BE TAKEN IN BY THEIR SALES PITCH.

We celebrated 50th wedding anniversary of our parents in Saffron Leaf hotel, GMS Road on 12th June, 2016. It offered a complete package of an expansive banquet, delicious food and exotic ambience.
All arrangement by the Banquet Manager, Mr. Uttam Rawat were at par with the reputation that precedes it. Apart from managing the arrangements, he took personal care of our guest as well. The food arrangement was well taken care of by Chef Kulbeer Rana under the supervision of Mr. Qureshi. The food and services provided were value for money and were simply great.
All in all an amazing price performance point.

Trivago is running a scam by showing lower rates for hotel bookings. It shows you a lower rate... you are happy & excited and make the booking.
Two methodologies:

1. Through Snaptravel.com: You will be shown a lower rate. In the fine print, they will mention that the hotel will charge you xxx amount. It will be seemingly harmless as if a part of amount shown for the booking will be collected by the hotel. THAT IS NOT RIGHT - YOU WILL PAY THE AMOUNT SHOWN ON THE WEBSITE + THE FINE PRINT AMOUNT. You will pay 200% of the amount you were supposed to pay.

2. Through Hilton Advanced Purchase: Will show you lower amount. You make the booking. If you want to make any change, there is only one way to get it done, Hilton's advance purchase team on 800 number. You can camp on this number for hours, days, months, years... no body will pick up the number because you will just hear the "hold music" and get frustrated. There is no Advance purchase team. If you call different Hilton numbers - HONORS, GUEST SERVICES, CALL BACK, poor team members can only demonstrate helplessness. HILTON: PLEASE DO NOT SPOIL YOUR REPUTATION

BEWARE DO NOT MAKE ANY BOOKINGS THROUGH TRIVAGO BECAUSE THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE REP TO HELP, IF YOU ARE STUCK ANY WAY.

NOT helpful at all. Would tell me the price of a hotel, I would click on it to book, then the price would at LEAST double. The most useless website I've ever wasted my time on.

Dear Ashley,

I am very sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties with your hotel search. Since there is always only a certain contingent of offers, what often happens is that the best deals can be out of stock quite quickly. This may not always be updated by the booking site in real time. Please note that we only display prices as given to us by the booking sites.

We apologize for any inconveniences caused and hope that this will not deter you from using trivago in the future. What you can and should expect from trivago is that we will always strive for maximum transparency.

To help you find your ideal hotel for the best price, we are continuously updating the thousands of prices the 250+ booking sites are offering for over 900,000 hotels. As much as we would like to guarantee 100% price consistency at all times, this is unfortunately an impossible feat.

Please let us know if you require any further assistance by getting in touch with our user support team at info@trivago.com

Kind regards,
Trivago user support.

Trivago is a scam
March 11, 2017

Trivago what a nightmare!. I just went to trivago to make a hotel Reservation in Charleston SC (I live in VA). I went to the website, found a hotel, booked it. Unfortunately I had to put my credit card information. I got a confirmation #, as I was reading the confirmation document, I notes it was booked for only one person. I called the hotel to ad my husband (two people instead of one) They couldn't find me with the confirmation # I had, and they couldn't find me with my name. In other words $514.00 was taken out of my account and I have no hotel reservation (be careful if you are send to Otel.com) As all this was going on... I got a text message from the card fraud alert department. Apparently they took my money out of my account from Istanbul. They offer the room for $135 a night. The hotel says that their cheaper room is $299 a night. Be careful people. In the mean time, they took $514.00, I have no hotel reservation, my card had to be canceled, and I am pissed of. No one to complain in triage. I want my money back.
