We monitor reviews for authenticity
This is my first purchase from The RealReal and I followed the site for some time. Even though less expensive than purchasing new, it is still a large investment. Finally found something I needed so I ordered it. Description of item (Bottega Veneta handbag) said it was in very good condition. I knew these were used items so did expect it to show some wear and did not expect to see the mirror that accompanys the BV bags. It arrived in 3 days and I was very pleasantly surprised when I opened it. The bag is in excellent (almost new) condition and the BV mirror was in the bag. No BV dust bag, but they did send it in their own dust bag. No question of the authenticity. I will definitely buy from them again in the future. My buying experience was A+ and I would recommend this company.
I ordered two purses and asked and paid for two day delivery. The purses never left the warehouse and I was never advised that it was on backorder. Unfortunately I''m travelling from the States and I had to cancel. I will never order from this company again as they showed incompetence and lack of interest in their clients.
I bought 2 bags from TheRealReal site and I'm happy of both of my items. The both bags are looks very new and its no stain or scratch. I'll buy something again from this site.
I like the concept that you can buy jewelry and scarves used and the company guarantees they are real. That is the best part of the Real Real.
The downside you may need to go to a jeweler for alterations.
1. Diamond ring very lovely and kept it although but did need a jeweler to tighten loose stones cost an extra $80 dollars and the fact stones were loose stones were not mentioned in its online description.
2. Also another $40 dollars for a necklace I kept but its shorter than it was described to be.
3. Switching out backs of another pair of earrings as they are discoloring my ear lobes. Said in description they are platinum. Don't believe they are and will need to pay for new posts. Probably will cost 100 to 200 where I live.
4. Photo can be misleading. Earrings looked big but were small when delivered. Another pair had a really large pearl too big for me and photo looked small.
These are some of the issues I have had with their jewelry, they need costly repairs.
I bought a Kenzo blouse. It arrived early, it's not fake and there's nothing wrong with it. I'm pretty happy.
Thank you so much for your great feedback. We are so glad you love your blouse.
Happy Shopping!
I have made 3 purchases from TRR over the years. Knowing that they are previously owned, I look through the description very carefully and only buy if it says "in excellent condition". So aging, color fading, creases are understandable, but fallen buttons on a coat, irremovable stain on a dress, stains and streaks around collar and sleeve, really? In the case of the dress, the stain was around the knee, and i didn't discover it until the return period had passed... oh well.
I am an international customer of the TRR and have been for 6 years but no more. The problems I have had are too many to list but a couple of the key and stressful ones.
TRR not filling out customs paperwork properly so UPS are asking me to pay more duties. I have been in the right every time and yet they continue to fill out the paperwork wrong.
I get sent items that are seriously not as described on their ad and then the process of returning is a nightmare particularly because they use UPS who are just as useless. They sent me a pair of R13 boots that said they were a size 39 in their ad and they arrived being a 36. They don't take care when listing stuff. I have had numerous other items arrive that are wrong.
Then don't get me started on their customer service. Their reps word their emails so it makes you feel like you have the problem. And the delays with responses is also appalling.
I am DONE with TRR. They continue to not fix their poor service, lack of care with ads, and crappy return process.
Adios TRR. You are AWFUL!
What a load a rubbish that I did not respond to TRR. Now they're lying as well! As if I don't want my refund that I am due.
As per the above, my order never arrived and after about 4 weeks I was getting annoyed. I was not receiving any responses to my emails. However within 24 hours of posting my complaint to this site my order had been shipped, I had been sent a detailed and apologetic explanation of what had occurred and I was given site credit.
Received my Mulberry bag and it's definitely a fake. Unbelievable that they're selling fakes for hundreds of dollars to an unsuspecting public. They said they'd make "an exception" and "reauthenticate" my order if I return it and that I'll receive a refund if they find that this bag is indeed, a counterfeit. It bums me out that they'll probably just sell this thing to someone else and they'll have to waste their time returning it as well. I'd like to add that this bag is so obviously fake I wouldn't even feel comfortable carrying it anywhere. It's made out of brand new, super cheap leather, is light as a feather, has gaudy bright gold hardware (the authentic ones have a sort of heavy, aged brass look) and a serial number in the wrong font. When they say it's been "authenticated" by experts they're really just gaslighting me.
I ordered and paid for a Cartier Santos Galbee Watch from South Africa which was delivered by FEDEX. On opening the package at the FEDEX offices there was no watch but a Dolce and Gabanna Scarf. Definitely not the item i bought and paid for. I did not accept the package and FEDEX will be returning the package. For a watch it should be in a small box? This was a large box and way too big for a watch package. I rather take a dim view. I wonder if other shoppers have experienced the same poor quality management from this company?
I decided to try RealReal and purchased a Dionysus HoBo Gucci bag a few days ago. The bag I purchased was first released about one year ago and I was surprised to see it on the RealReal for only $827 after tax and shipping. The original price for this bag at Saks is $2100 after tax. I was skeptical because for a new bag it should not be so cheap after just one year. When it arrived today, I noticed right away that it happened to be a cheap counterfeit bag. It was so cheap looking and on of that not even real leather but PU material. The stitching was sloppy and uneven and not what an authentic Gucci Bag is about This company claims to sell 100% authentic bags that are authenticated by experts. It doesn't take an expert to look at the material to know its PU. I buy my bags and major department stores or on Rodeo drive so I know designer quality and craftsmanship. This bag was lacking in all areas. I contacted them immediately and they told me to return it for a second inspection and if they determine it's fake, they would issue a refund. I didn't think that was a good enough answer because their expert authenticator should have already known the bag was counterfeit before offering it up for sale. I decided to file a dispute with Paypal and within minutes received an email that I could return the bag for a full refund. I will return it tomorrow. I hate the fact that this company is dishonest, capitalizing on consumer lack of knowledge and that I have to lose time dealing with return shipping. I will never do business with RealReal.com again. I will update this review regarding the refund process once it's been finalized.
I purchased two pieces of designer jewelry. Each piece I received had damage that was NOT disclosed on their listing. I had to pay the shipping costs both ways. Waste of time and money.
I have been a customer/consigner since 2012. I sent 4 items in for consignment including an Oscar de la Renta dress from Spring 2019, retail value $2900. They set a price of $335 dollars and the dress "sold" but now it is showing as customer return request for a month. It hasn't been re-listed, I haven't been paid commission and there is NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. Another item is marked as being returned to me but I did not get it back and the picture of the item they claim to have returned is not the item I sent! TRR has become shady and deceitful. I am preparing to take this to my local News station. I just want consumers to be aware as we go into the busy holiday shopping period. Avoid this dishonest business!
TRR has fully refunded my purchase as promised. With this, I hope to see more positive reviews in the nearest future so that I can feel more comfortable to make purchases from TRR. Thank you.
Jacob has reached out to me and offered a full refund. I believe in making things right and Jacob at TRR is doing just that. I, again, am returning the bag and hope for a prompt refund. My time is very valuable and dealing with this is not what I wish to encounter. Business becomes successful only after they treat customers with respect, fairness, and honesty. I trust that TRR will choose this path. I will update this review again once I receive my refund as promised. 9/14/17
The Gucci bag shipped to me is brand new, extremely light weighted, and looks and feels like a plastic bag. It is not used or authentic as claimed. As a longtime Gucci bags owner, I can tell that it is fake. The dust bag is only half size of the bag! The online description does not match with the bag I received! With the bait words 'Final Sale', they ship anything, real or not, and not returnable, they got my money, done deal. I made several calls to complain and requesting for a refund, but no luck. They let me return for re-authentication, and again, verbally, told me that it is real. I then tried to reconsign it back to them and was lied to as they will do after taking all my info for consigning it back online and that I will get paid 55% of the sale price in 30-60 days, and an email confirmation is being sent to me. Nothing happened. Called again. Promised again and was told 'not to worry, Sarah will call you and will consign it for you'. Next hour, FedEx delivered the same fake bag with no paperwork at all to my door. It is so horrible that they bluntly lied to me and that no authentication proof was provided. First time and last being TheRealReal customer. I should have believed their negative reviews on the BBB page! Lesson learned! Real is not Real. Like many others, I'm wondering how can business like this last? They don't deserve this one star. I lost $267.10 to the fake bag that is too embarrassing to carry. 9/1/17
This company is horrible please do not consign with them
1. They person who come to my house to pick up the items was re-shcduled becasue she has something to do with other customer and that made her delay my appointment.
2.The item was damaged during the transition, the real real team inform me that is my responsibility to clean it up and then resent to them. The dress is brand new with tag $800 up dollars dress when the lady who pick up the item and they damage it and ask me to clean it. Horrible
3. Return items, I contact the company for the pass 2 month every single week to get update on my returning item which probably worth $10,000 up and they keep delay and keep ignore my request. I still waiting for my items being return.
Please do not use this company. They really suck!
I have been collecting and recycling pre-loved designer ware - it's wearable art - for nearly 30 years and this business is wonderful for someone who lives at the bottom of the world. I appreciate what it does for promoting the authenticity of the pieces and for popularising the re-loving of quality clothes instead of succumbing to cheap and nasty junk fashion. However would I be able to afford the luxury of a gorgeous Chanel dress other than trading up by recycling some other beautiful pieces I previously loved? What would I love to see? An opportunity to receive a discount for writing up the history of some of the more special pieces - where I acquired it, and how/when/where I wore it - to pass on to the next owner. Wouldn't it be lovely to know the pedigree of some of the most exquisite dresses and what they've shared with their 'people'. Partly a history lesson and partly "life, love and what I wore".
My first The Real Real purchase, and I believed they carefully vetted their items to ensure their authenticity and condition. The Louis Vuitton bag I orderd reeks of cigarette smoke, something that was not disclosed in the item description. I am waiting to see if they will accept a return of the bag due to the horrendous odor. I would not order again from a place that consigns leather or fabric goods that previously belonged to smokers. Extremely disappointed in quality control.
UPDATE: TRR accepted a return on this item due to the cigarette smell, but I have to say, that knowing they sell items with strong odors like this in the first place will keep me from buying leather or fabric items from them in the future.
Do NOT send anything to this company! They do not give you a price quote until after you shipped the items and try to give you an extremely low profit. They decided to give me 300 dollars for two items that I paid 1,500 for. The items were only a year old and worn once. They tried to make it seem like they were making only 550 on the items. This website claims to give 55 percent commission but they price the items so low that it becomes worth nothing. Yoo are better off trying your luck on ebay. BEWARE
My order came in the nick of time after FedEx randomly updated the shipping information last minute. If you request a return a shipping label is provided; if you use it they deduct $11.95 from your refund. I feel like TheRealReal is going to be left in the dust if they're not careful. Most online shopping sites offer perks like free 2 day express shipping and free returns, and on top of that you get new stuff. Another thing I noticed is that the deals on site aren't THAT amazing. I suppose if you get lucky enough to find something new with tags (that's real!) it's worth it. Otherwise, it's not worth the hassle of shipping and returns. Now I'm just waiting to see if they refund me on time or at all...
Getting your orders in 3-5 business days is a lie. You pay $11.95 for shipping and don't get free returns, and they STILL don't get your orders to you in time. That's a basic of online shopping in my opinion. I would avoid this site.
I ordered lv mini lin speedy 30 for the first time on the description it says lock and key included, but I did not receive it, I contacted the customer service and it took a week for them to get back to me and the message I received I'm sorry the warehouse did not find the lock and key very disappointed I will never stop to this company ever.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
