We monitor reviews for authenticity
I recently tried to work with Therealreal. I have proof of authenticity of my items, which many were gifts from family and/or vintage pieces. They kept my items saying "questionable authenticity" and not authentic…. Again who would send something knowing it was fake…. Not me again I have proof authenticity. They will not give me back my items unless I provide proof of purchase again these are vintage and from my grandmother. They keep stating policy but when I provided my 27 items to them they didn't say anything about keeping your items and the fact that another rebuttable company authenticated but yet they still won't return. I have retained and attorney. Do not send your items to them. Beware.
For a site that claims to be all about authentication and quality, TheRealReal has sent me items sold to me at a very incorrect size several times.
In my most recent purchase, I ordered two different items - both listed in my size at 3XL - and received the package to discover that both items were actually a size 2.
Because I missed the very limited window to return them, I decided to cut my losses and just re-consign them (while trying to inform The RealReal that the items were not sold to me at the correct size). I was only able to recoup 55% of my original expense on one item, and the other was returned to me saying that they won't accept that brand of clothing. (Despite the fact that I'd BOUGHT it FROM THEM not even 30 days prior...)
To add insult to injury, it took two weeks for email follow-up from their customer support team on this issue before I finally gave up and returned to the site to try the support chat. I was transferred several times, and still wasn't given a good resolution.
Won't be shopping here anymore.
I am a longtime customer with Real Real, which made what happened today all the more shocking. I opened my order tonight of an Oscar de la Renta blouse and pants, and as I slipped the blouse over my head I felt a terrible stinging on my back. I started screaming and got the blouse off and saw a WASP fly off, but not before it had stung me TWICE on my back! I was completely freaked out (still am) and immediately tried to call customer service. They shunted me over to texting bc of the long hold time, and when I explained what was going on, the rep said he hoped I was fine now! I told him to have a manager call me right away, and he replied it would be 24 hours! Outrageous. Buyer Beware! Clearly The Real Real is NOT inspecting their merch adequately, and they don't have the staff to respond to their customers.
They fraudulently STOLE my late Mothers fur coats valued to be at least $30k. At first they claim the coats were lost, I then went to my local police station, minutes after the detective called them, the coats were found. I requested the coats be sent back to me and once again the couldn't locate the coats, and had the audacity to send me a check for $696.00. Plse do not deal with these thieves. I just pray that karma and curses on this company!
Excellent company with a very good customer service. Sold at a great price and arrived promptly. I am delighted with my purchase.
The payout is ridiculous! They don't even let you approve pricing beforehand sold my bags so cheap and they promised much more money for them, they just sell them immediately before you can request a return. The sales rep. Arianna Paolella doesn't seem to know what she's doing, I keep asking thru text about my commission and she never texted back I had to email her in order to get a response just to tell me a bunch of lies, I feel I got taken advantage of, I am never consigning with them ever again and WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!
Great product and service. Good quality, very service-oriented, on time and nice people. Will definitely do business with them again!
Love this site! Shipping is amazing and I've never had an issue thus far. Keep up the great work. Great customer service and very accommodating. Products are authentic as well as the fantastic prices.
I bought a Prada hangbag from the Real Real a few weeks ago. After a few days one of the stripes was showing sign of heavy use so i went in the Prada shop and show the staff and want to repair it but the staff told me they cannot as this is not an authentic item... I paid for it and for the authentication but it means nothing... Left very embarrassed
They lost 3 pieces of fine jewelry that I sent to them to consign and offered me a $30 site credit for the items. Complete fraud of a company. Do not send them your belongings
I find the Real Real to be an undesirable place to shop, and shady at that. After not being able to return it even though the merchandise was not as described, I reconsigned it and after checking on my consignment, I found it sold a month ago, and just now the credit is being sent. It was a $133 handbag and I got $19!
The real real is real scam. They kept my bag for an evaluation of authenticity and sold it without my permission. They also lied on several occasion during the entire process. They assured me that my bag was being sent back to me but later said it was a miscommunication and offered me only a fraction of the amount. When I declined it, they simply stopped communicating. I will be filing a lawsuit in the small claims court.
Reading all the reviews in different pages I can clearly see I am not the only victim. People need to be aware of this company.
I wanted to give them 0. Selling through them is a giant rip-off. They give you no opportunity to get the item returned if you are dissatisfied with their determination. We received $96.80 on a mink coat evaluated at over $6000. Will never sell through them again!
The quality of my purchases was good and the timely manner in which they were delivered exceeded my expectations.
I have found a couple of gems on here, I won't lie. But I have had a several items that were in much rougher shape than disclosed, and now it seems to be the majority of items as of recent.
Photos usually don't show closeups of flaws, and that is deceptive. Return policy is not great, or even especially clear. Shipping is a definitely high and expect to pay duties if buying from Canada.
I sent my Prada Boots to them which I bought for $450. Brand new. Only wore once. They offered the price $65 but I can only get 20% of this quote price. I wasn't happy with the quote price and asked them to mail it back to me. BUT they already posted the item to their website and already sold it out WITHOUT my permission. This is ridiculous. I didn't approve them to do that. That is still my item. HOW can they sell it without notifying me? Don't sell your stuff to The RealReal. Once you give them your stuff, that is their stuff and you cannot give any $#*! about it.
Real real is a scam I purchase a pair of chrome hearts leggings they did not fit me I sent them back and they told me they cannot authenticate these hands meanwhile I bought them from them I send out a pair YSL flats they said they couldn't Authentisign so they got rid of them they didn't send them back horrible people
I was so excited to visit the Dallas Store. I was out with some pristine pieces floating to different consignment stores. I had 6 pieces that were researched upon entering store at a very small desk. My items were freshly dry cleaned and still in plastic. The gentleman looked up all items. He stated that 4 of the items they would qualify for appraisal and get back with me. Explained the process to me of which was very vague. I was contacted by an individual via email that would be my advocate on the process or if I had any questions.
After about 2.5 weeks I was able to see information on app still wondering why information stated unacceptable and a tracking number provided to track the items :O I was not told they were going to mail these items to me. I specifically stated I would pick them up if they were denied. Had no idea they were going to be unaccepted and returned this way. As the items are now wrinkled and cannot take photos for an auction until they are re-dry cleaning and freshly starched (linen) I just wished I had been informed of how this process worked on the backend. WHY take the items to begin with is my question? And SEND THEM BACK IN SAME CONDITION YOU RECIEVED THEM IN! HELLO YELP
STEPHANIE SOFEY
P.S. no pictures because you have already wasted enough of my time. However, if you woud like some I can surely send them to you direct! Maybe I can get a reimbursement of the dry cleaning
They lost my item that I was consigning with them and have been giving me the runaround and have not reimbursed me for it. It was an expensive piece of jewelry. Stay away from this company, very unprofessional and terrible service.
I have sold a few items with this "investor" based company and I had difficulty ever receiving my consignment checks. The first check finally arrived after many months. The only reason the check arrived is because I called their billing dept. so many times, I've lost track. The second check has never arrived and it has been close to a year now. I have also contacted them so many times for this check. Just beware when you consign with this company. I am sure I'm not the only one having this problem.
Answer: Do not buy from them! Their return/refund policy is skewed to their benefit. In my case, I bought a Louis Vuitton bag and when it was received it was not in the condition advertised or the photos did not highlight the real wear of the bag and they refused to make a refund or credit. It's their lost because I have since bought many bags on Ebay which offers guarantee of refund should item be faulty or misrepresented. Also, on Ebay you can judge by seller feedback whether the seller is reputable and PRICES are so much less than on the REAL REAL. Their name should be changed to the REAL GREED!
Answer: Hi Samantha. The RealReal does sometimes ask for additional information from customers for a one time security check. Most times, this is for new customers who have never shopped with us before, orders with vastly different billing and shipping information, or are international customers with unverified credit cards. We will ask for some sensitive and personal information for the purposes of verifying the identity of the purchaser but we will not ask for a Social Security Number. Was your father attempting to complete his purchase via Affirm? Affirm is a third party company we work with that offers financing on purchases. If your father was attempting to complete a purchase via Affirm, they do require a SSN for a soft credit check for the loan approval and repayment options. As Affirm is a third party, we do not have access to any of that information so it is secure with Affirm. Of course, no one is required to use Affirm for check out, rather it's just another payment option we offer. Please feel free to reach out to us if this does not answer your questions or if you feel that the explanations provided were not applicable to your situation. You can reach out to our Customer Service Department at (855) 435 5893 from 8am to 5pm (PST). If you would like to speak to a supervisor directly, please feel free to ask for Caitlin from our NJ office. She is available from 9am to 6pm (EST) and of course you can reach us via email at: customerservice@therealreal.com.
Answer: If you like to be frustrated, disappointed and want to take a few years off your life, then yes consign with the real real.
Answer: I do NOT recommend selling through TRR. Read all seller reviews. This a speed selling co trying to cash in on a quick commission. The prices they assign are RIDICULOULOUS at best. They are not there to get you a good price but a fast buck for themselves. They priced a brand new prada bag with a label on at $625. Minus 20% permanent discount, 60% of that, I receive a whopping $312. After 10 days wait of processing and seeing the prices assigned I pulled my items. I was shocked and even more upset. I rather give the cloths to charity or sell them myself. I think it is insiders who buy the best items at dirt cheap prices they assign themselves. As a buyer just today I receive a wrong item. They were going to research the problem and find the item I purchased, a coat. They sent me a dirty silk top... This is after waiting for 10 days to get the wrong item. This co is just very bad. Customer service is spotty. Some reps are just dreadful. They sound like this is a summer gig and they got no training, you can never speak to a supervisor, none is ever available, Read the reviews and decide if you still want to use this co. If you do, you will be disappointed,
Answer: Hello, We are sorry to hear of your concerns. If you can please send us your order number or email address we will happily research this further.
Answer: Hi Frank, Thank you for reaching out. We apologize you have seen more negative than positive reviews. We would be pleased to advise you on our consignment process and share a little more insight about the RealReal.
Answer: I don't work for The Real Real I am just a satisfied customer, very satisfied! I see all the complaints, and just shake my head. Knowing how people can be, and also knowing the complainers are the ones who write letters, I can only assume they are "out of touch with reality", or POSSIBLY are competitors who are just being difficult to try and hurt the site. Remember, anyone can write anything, that does not mean it is true, nor are ALL the facts being presented! As for me, I am willing to show, and prove who I am, and the great products and service I received.
Answer: This happened to me only one time, and I have sold quite a few items with them. As soon as I received the quote for a pair of earrings. I contacted them immediately and said I felt the price was to low due to various reasons, and they got back to me the next day with an adjusted price. I have never experienced what you are describing above as a bait and switch scenario, and I always check the similar or same items they are selling. I would just call them and ask for the details as to why the other item is higher. Sorry you had a bad experience!
Answer: File a complaint with the US Customs office in your area and your state's attorney general. Also for many types of goods, they will destroy the counterfeit goods and give you a letter stating they have done so. This is ironclad proof for the bank dispute.
Answer: I have returned things with no hassle at all.
