Memorable nightmare experience with the Tasker Ahmad. Yesterday postponed for 2 consecutive day, I cancelled. No professionalism at all!
The actual task rabbit staff is a joke and completely rude. DO NOT book anything through this company.
My bed frame assembled quick with no problems. Thank you TaskRabbit. I will definitely hire again for next job of changing curtain rods
It's been three weeks now since I've signed up for Tasker and setup my profile, of course that also includes paying 20$ upfront (they claim it's the fee for the background check). I have been emailing them regarding my status, unfortunately I have only recieved a general automated message but haven't heard from them regarding my status ever since. Fortunately I was able to get a hold of the customer service after a lengthy process (you can only contact them by phone if it's an emergency), in which the representative said to me that my issue has already been forwarded to the befitting department (at least they could have let me know this before, all those times I've been trying to enquire about my status). When I asked them if there is any way I can get in touch with that special department so I have an idea of how much longer it's gonna take and why it's taking so long, they told me no your issue is already with the internal department(all of this conversation was being done in between long hold times). So how am I supposed to know my status?. At the end I inquired if I can have my refund since I don't see any advancement in my case and it seems like nothing is being done, they said that was a non refundable fee that's used for the background check, well then how come I didn't recieve a copy of my background check since that is legally our right and I clicked on that option as I was signing up (all this being talked with holds in between). Finally I decided this is wasting too much of my time and the most feasible thing for me to do for now is to leave a review so others can be aware of this, it may not happen to you but it does happen to a lot of people. Also I am using handypro now and so far they're ok (they are also hard to get in touch with but so far I haven't had the need to contact them). I was actually surprised with their sign up process and how I was able to work right away. Although the layout of the Tasker app is much better, also I think the pay and the variety of jobs you get through Tasker is a bit more but their management, from my experience, is horrible! I hope they can fix this up.
Overall, it's a good concept, but I've probably used this app for the last time. In the olden days, their "trust and support fee" was very fair and reasonable. But now it's like 35%. Customer service is seldomly an option. You have to write an email, but they're difficult to get in touch and rarely respond to inquiries when you need help or an answer. Using the chat rarely gets you live help and sometimes they respond to emails and sometimes they don't. Like I contacted them 4 times and they only answered the first time. There is no phone number. I think 35% for a platform with such poor customer service, is unreasonable - especially given their biggest job is computers processing payments and them just deducting more fees. I hired someone to help move some furniture. The labor for this last job was roughly $70. There was a truck rental fee for $87. The service fee on the $70 labor was $28, so with the fees it totaled $191. The fees are just on the labor (I think?) But the real kicker was when I tried to send a tip the only way to do it is to choose from 5 options: no tip, 10%, 15%, 20% or 25%, ON THE TOTAL! Why no custom percentage and no custom dollar amount options? I was happy to tip 20% or even more, for the labor/Tasker, but not on the Taskrabbit service fees (obviously Taskrabbit thinks they deserve this tip) and a tip on the truck rental. The "help" section says "Taskers receive 100% of their tips" which probably means that Taskrabbit must keep the tip on their service fee and probably on the expenses and taskers probably just get the tip on the labor. I find this abominable and utterly lacking in integrity. What a massive scam. I highly recommend you look elsewhere or make sure if you use them, to tip the tasker directly with cash to avoid such ridiculousness.
I stopped using them a long time ago. I had an issue with a few unreliable taskers, but I kept using the service and didn't choose those taskers anymore. The last straw was when I hired a tasker to mow my lawn. The landscaping company I was using unexpectedly went out of business and I needed my lawn mowed that week until I found a permanent replacement. The tasker they sent massacred my lawn (cut uneven, missed some spots, no edging, etc.) and blew/ spewed the clippings and TRASH everywhere, even on to my neighbor's lawn. I submitted a complaint and Taskrabbit didn't even allow me to post a review with photos of what the tasker did, they also charged additional fees. I was charged a total of $189, for less than 1.5hrs of work. So I had to dispute the charge with my bank. I was charged $189 for this horrible lawn job, when it typically costs $50 weekly for my size lawn. I will never use Taskrabbit again! Taskrabbit fees is another issue, please notice how they charge an ADDITIONAL $7-$15 PER HOUR for their "Trust & Safety Fee" which is unconscionable. None of this money goes to the tasker. Taskrabbit is worst than Uber when it comes to fees and they're not even doing any of the work! They claim this is a necessary fee they charge to do background checks on their tasker. Lies! It's $20/mo for unlimited searches on Intelius. If you have an Intelius account (like them) you can run a check on anyone, all you need is their name & date of birth. Lucky for me, there have been many apps created since this incident that provide a much better service than Taskrabbit. I also place ads on Craigslist and do my own background checks on Intelius, com. I've found better more reliable workers on Craigslist alone, it's been much less expensive. I pay $25-$30 CA$H per hour for labor and the worker gets the entire amount without paying a percentage to these scammy apps.
I have been an active user of TR for almost a year now and while the app has allowed for me to work for myself full time, I am actively looking working to get off task rabbit completely as there are several MAJOR issues with the app. 1st is the poor, buggy UI. Many of the app features do not work as intended for example the call function. The chat box can get buggy at times as well, not allowing for media uploads like pictures and videos. As I mentioned I've been consistently using the app and have not seen any improvements. 2nd is the whole hiring/ metrics system. While you can set which task you want to accept, you have no control over who hires you and what the scope of the task is. So clients can literally hire you to fix or clean something and then change the scope of the job mid task or after you accept the job. Problem is if you have a bunch of clients do that you either have to deal with it or cancel and hurt you metrics (which in of itself is a poor system) which hurts your ability to get hired. My last and the worst of these issues is the support especially on the contractor side. Clients are able to leave damaging reviews, cancel payments etc and task rabbit will not do anything about it. This is especially problematic for new independent contractors as they need fair and honest feedback to market and grow their business but that's difficult to do when the app support does not have good review guidelines or follow through with their own guideline policies which has happened to me personally on serval occasions. Overall this app not good for independent contractors long term and I will probably be leaving the platform myself after this year.
Task Rabbit. You are garbage. You are neither for Taskers or the clients. Money Hungry. Can't wait to see you fail!
Since I am unable to leave an honest review on, Taskrabbit, I have to resort to other platforms to be able to do so. I've had some pretty good luck with great workers from sites such as Angi and Taskrabbit until recently with Tasker, "Courtney C.," in the Dallas, Texas/Fort Worth area. Firstly, Mr. Courtney DID NOT HAVE A MOVING TRUCK AS ADVERTISED. Secondly, as soon as I greeted him at his truck, I smelled marijuana very strongly then he used marijuana while working, which is illegal in the State of Texas. I don't care what you do on your own time, but you're showing up to do a professional job smoking marijuana is disrespectful and very unprofessional. It was so embarrassing to pull into the storage bay and smell his extremely loud marijuana. I for one am allergic to smoke, so I am very sensitive to all of it. Thirdly, I had to communicate one too many times to inquire about, Mr. Courtney and his helper's location. We communicated about one break that they took, but other than that, the other times they were missing, I had no idea what or where they were during the job, which I am charged for… He later lied and literally said they took no breaks. We followed one another back and forth to the storages, but too many times they arrived very late after me. Lastly and the most egregious, I ended up having to use my own vehicle to help transport items from my own storage, because again, Mr. Courtney was not equipped to complete the task and did not come with an actual moving truck as advertised. With that being said, the job took far too long, too much longer WITHOUT an actual moving truck, and now I'm stuck with a $1200 bill. Granted, I could've ended the job much sooner, which I certainly wanted to, however I had to be out of my storage by midnight. Now, who's going to pay me for the work I had to do and my gas and use of my own vehicle? I would be satisfied with paying the bill if I didn't have to lift a finger or use my truck or my gas too, but unfortunately I had too, because Mr. Courtney lied about having a moving truck. By nightfall, and because he did take far too long, I just refused to continue being raped with charges, ended the job, and I had to complete moving the boxes myself and alone.
Check out www.bartersugar.com. Its not gig based, but most of us can use the skills we offer on TR here instead.
Don't use this site. Unreliable and shouldn't be in business. They have the nerve to ask for a credit card number.
Got a Tv stand from IKEA and was so excited to put it together and see how it turns out.
They suggested task rabbit so I thought why not. Checked the app and found one for the next morning 8am, Wednesday, which worked perfect coz I didn't have work just had to cancel my morning routine. Even set an alarm for him coz that's how much I respect people's time, only to get an email at 8:10, which is 10 minutes past the appointment time that my tasker cancelled.
I was like cool, it happens.
Went back to the app and found another tasker who was available at 12pm, at a higher price but at this point I was a little desperate coz I'd taken the console out of the box to make their job easier so my living room was a mess and I knew I had to fix that before EOD.
This tasker even promised to come an hour earlier, which was great I knew he needed a magnetic screw for the install so I made sure he was aware, said he didn't have any, and went out of his way to grab it one on his way, which I offered to reimburse.
This guy said something had come up so switched the time back to 12pm, cool.
Tell me why this guy stopped answering my texts/calls at 12:15.
Starts to flood my inbox with another client's tv stand pictures explaining how it had taken him 7hrs and he can't come bcs he has another client bla bla! When he had assured me he was on his way!
Tried to reason with him and even offered a later time, he developed an attitude and told me that I should not force him to do my job and I can go ahead and do it myself.
I let it go and forgot about him, turned all the frustrations into energy and installed that thing by myself lol. I didn't break anything, took me hours though.
On Friday morning I'm at work minding my business and this guy starts calling and texting saying he's at my door
The audacity though! Im not sure if he's still at my door, I hope he has snacks coz he's gonna wait for a loooong time!
The fact that he just put me on his schedule without my knowledge just amazes me!
Please when you hear Task rabbit just Run!
If you like, putting in the work to explain your project setting up times for contractors to come out only for them to cancel on you, TaskRabbit is the place you need to be. Four times this has happened to me. And there is absolutely no accountability or no repercussions for their contractors to continually disappoint clients. I have went through the process of describing the project setting up a time & either people turning down the work…. Or they schedule the work, and then don't show. There is very minimal ways one can communicate with the contractor and they hold all the power. For example, somebody was supposed to come out yesterday to do my project. He claimed he had "air conditioning" issues, so I was flexible and said that we could reschedule to this morning and woke up to find that he completely canceled the project in Taskrabbit and once they do that there is no way that they are held accountable or dinged for inconveniencing somebody's world or even gives you the ability to ask them why did they cancel. Most importantly, I feel like I should be able to rate them on some type of scale for doing this. Even hosts on sites like Airbnb are held accountable. In some sense for not following through with scheduling and agreement. It is super offputting and inconvenient for a client of Taskrabbit to have to keep going through this and then has no ability to give feedback so these people keep getting jobs or look like wonderful contractors with no feedback from the public on what they might be getting them selves into when it comes to integrity and honesty of completing a project. The site is junk. Their contractors are junk. Stay far away.
I don't know yet I'm still waiting for the completion of the service I'll write the review later if I can
I checked with two rabbits. One task rabbit (William S), tried to hustle me by demanding on doing more than what I needed. I needed a door, have the whole idea mapped out, and he insisted on reinforcing the fence. A fence he had never seen. A fence that is secure. He acted like he was going to sign his name to the task, even though he wasn't creative enough to have even seen an outside door on a fence. He said he didn't want to 'compromise his integrity'. This had nothing to do with it. It's like putting up an order to repaint your door, and the TR insists on painting the whole house, or he won't do it. That is William S! Also, he cancelled quickly, so i couldn't comment on his page. I'm betting that he does that to a lot of people, hence the high rating. Next was Jerel. Jerel seemed nice, until I had a conversation with him to discuss the job. We were two days away, and he hadn't given me a list of needed items. I asked to speak to him by phone, as he would be coming to my house. He was very short, and abrupt on the phone. I had wanted to connect because he had left off the last message with, 'and anything you can think of', in terms of acquiring what was needed for the job. I said I came to him, as the professional, to guide me through this process. Let me know what you need to do the job. He responded, "I'm not a professional". I said, "okay, but you took the job, you said this is what you do full time, and you said you do construction work. I edit, so that is what I do professionally." I was thinking, "why are we talking in circles here." At the end of the call, I didn't feel confident in his skills. Despite numerous picture, neither wanted to give me an estimate of the time for the work. I ended up scraping the project for now. I'm going to go with Thumbtack when I'm ready. The people are much more professional. Save your valuable time and skip Task Rabbit.
I thought the idea of TaskRabbit was to make your life easier - subcontract out the tasks you don't want to do. But what happens instead is that you replace the task you didn't want to do with a HUGE HASSLE in dealing with TaskRabbit, and sometimes you end up doing the task you didn't want to do because you run out of time to find a TaskRabbit.
I used TaskRabbit on-and-off for a few years. In the early years, I loved them. Then they changed the process (and changed it again) and it has never even approached "okay" since then. All the "taskers" I've used have been between "adequate" and "great" (although I've heard horror stories), but I've also had multiple tasks canceled because the assigned tasker didn't want to do it, and sometimes I spent more time on TaskRabbit trying to get someone to clean my house than if I would've just cleaned the house myself!
The platform is horrible: taskers hate it, clients hate it... I have no idea for whose convenience any of this is designed.
Their customer service is unimpressive. After reading other reviews, I feel lucky that they even responded to complaints. I had one rep who was, um, not very bright, as she thought a $10 credit that was issued months *before* the task I was complaining about, was actually the $15 credit I had been promised. Yes, they have credited me multiple times for tasks that were overcharged, or just such an omnishambles that they felt they had to make it up to me. Again, judging from the other reviews, I'm the lucky one, in that I even got a credit for my fiascos. Still, I've decided that it's not worth the hassle of dealing with TaskRabbit - I'd rather just do my task myself, or take my chances with Craigslist.
It was a delivery task given to me from a client situated in brampton. I stay in mississauga, pickup was in woodbridge, so i asked client to start after an hour and she was agreed on to this. I started the task around 3:40 pm and finished delivery around 5:45. I charged her for 2 hours and she left me a long wrong review on my profile that my task was finished in 37 minutes which is next to impossible as someone can calculate the distance from mississauga to woodbridge and delivery in brampton. But she was counting only minutes i took delivery from pickup, but still it was 40-45 minutes not 37. On the tasker app my rate is lowest on delivery, so on the charge of half and hour i wont get even 10$. Is it worth it for spending 2 hours after someone's task? Really? Delivery tasks cant work on the time as they can calculate with distance and time both. Also she wrote in review that i made her waiting for 1 hour before starting the task, where she was agreed to wait but she knew this tasker cant explain or write in reply on review she had done everything wrong on the reviews!
I have clearly mentioned on my profile that charges outside of mississauga, oakville and etobicoke shall be differ as i knew that there are some cheap client's like this will do something like this. I've pushed my all efforts for doing that task as soon as possible but still because of cheap clients like her it left me with bad review and problem of my future other tasks.
I tried to complaint to task rabbit people but they didnt help me for anything on this topic. Even i asked them to not pay me on this task and just to remove this wrong kind of review but as always they're only thinking about their customers and earnings. They really dont care about the workers/taskers on the app who are working for them with real ethics and honesty.
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
Answer: Hi Carlos, thanks for your inquiry! When registering, a form of payment as well as bank info is required. The form of payment covers the cost of registration and the bank info is linked to your account so that you can receive payment from your Client once you begin tasking.
