Booked these guys through ikea. The tasker has been able to communicate with me but I can't with him. To make matters worse I can't even log into the so called account I have with them.
I hired Video to do 2 jobs and he texts me at the last minute he has a scheduling problem. Shouldn't he know that before accepting the job?
Don't use the service
I hired a tasker to reinstall brackets for the shelves in my pantry closet, the brackets were in place over ten years without issue before two screws came loose so I decided to use it as an opportunity to paint the closet and have all the shelves reinstalled, less than a month after the shelves were installed they started to come out of the wall, the brackets were not installed into the stud as they were previously. After contacting TR it took them three days to respond back to say they would do absolutely nothing to address this issue because it was past 14 days, so apparently, my improperly installed shelves should have fallen off by day 13 for them to address the issue.
I have requested to speak with a manager and asked for a contact person at their corporate headquarters, awaiting a response. I expect it will be another 3 days or more if at all.
Bottom line is, I now have to patch, paint and have the shelves installed properly at my cost
My recommendation DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY.
After moving to Texas, I needed some furniture for my new place. I bought two pieces of IKEA furniture and the IKEA associate told me about the assembly services offered by Task Rabbit. I was excited to hear that there was a company that could put the furniture so quickly and probably do a great job. I didn't realize at the time that the company is made up of independent individuals doing the work. I made an appointment for the next day and was really happy about the quick turn around. But, then the individual canceled the appointment at 9 pm the night before the appointment. I made another appointment for the next day with a different individual for a Friday, and that individual sent me a message hours later changing it saying that he could only do it on Saturday. Two changes within two days made me not trust this company, so I canceled the appointment. What is the purpose of the appointment system if it is not reliable? Many of us work full time and have to take off work to make these types of appointments. I cannot imagine that I will use Task Rabbit in the future because of their reliably. I don't know about the quality of their work.
Your data system made a mess of my account - locked up my tasker email address so I can never use it as a tasker. And your password reset link is a joke. So if I ever forget my password, the corresponding email address is lost to your system permanently.
Your client app doesn't steer taskers to the Tasker app, as if you never anticipated that a client could become a tasker. In fact if you don't use "tasker" in a web search you might not even find the tasker app. Kept getting steered to the client app.
Your IT department didn't fix my account problem - just sent me the same defective password change link. There's no IT ticket number and no direct IT contact, therefore no accountability. Your IT people just declared the problem fixed and disposed of it.
Posted as a tasker for electrical work only to find you don't have any electrical clients in the south bay. You don't have any task specific client data, so I registered and spent 25 dollars for nothing. 1 million people in the south bay. Not a single call. When it comes to electrical, you promise but you don't deliver.
I had a tasker friend whose account got hacked - someone stole her task money - and she had a harried and difficult time getting someone in your offices on the phone, and take her seriously. Her experience: it was like talking to a stone wall.
This services is trash. Don't use it. Also, they're availability is trash. How is it that they are only in certain areas when They push the tasks to people who are willing to do work?
Hired a tasker and the tasker lied about his status (I was not in the same state he was working) and he used my materials but because I was able to cancel the task before charges task rabbit believes I was made whole. I lost a days worth of work and roughly $80 in supplies but was told to open a claim with my insurance... HORRENDOUS CUSTOMER SERVICE and zero accountability for their taskers. USE WITH CAUTION
This is a review of the COMPANY, not the helpers I hired. They've been great. But beware that the company gouges you coming and going. First, they take 20% off the top of the helper's charges. Okay, fair enough, they provide the helpers with marketing and access to a client base.
But THEN, when the customer gets the bill they add a 15% "Trust and Support Fee." WTF? On a $458 bill -- of which they deduct 20% before they pay the helper -- I got whacked with a $68 fee. REALLY? So on a $458 bill, they get $159 or about 35% of the total charges. Complete and TOTAL GOUGE. Going elsewhere.
I am uniquely qualified to this a label this as a rip-off because I've been a Rover sitter for years. Rover takes 20% of what I get paid. Period. I get marketing support, guaranteed payments, liability insurance, an emergency assistance hotline (which I've used), training, tools, a pretty good app, and quite a bit more. At the same time the Customer know exactly what it's going to cost them.
Too bad I'm not using this service again because the helpers I've hired have been really good.

My TV Mount Fell off My Wall just over 30 days after being installed in my living room. I reached out to customer service and they said because it was just over 30 days since the task took place, their "Happiness Pledge" does not cover the previous service and there is nothing they can do.
I am a first time user of Task Service and spent over $400 dollars to have my TV mounted. It was mounted in the living room of my new apartment for just over 30 days. When it fell it caused additional damage to my wall and I injured my finger in the process of fully taking it down. I am in the sales and service industry myself, and I understand deadlines of coverages, but I also understand to be a good service and maintain a reputation there is a time and place to provide leniency.
My Tasker knew there were steel studs he could use to mount the TV into the wall and made the decision to just use the drywall. When a TV is mounted it should never come off the wall no matter if its been over 30 days or 30 years. I believe this extremely unfair that I lost my time and money because of this.
If anybody asks me if they should use Task Rabbit for any service, I will make sure I share my story and experience with them, and to suggest a different service provider. I know I am only one person, but when a company prides themselves on service and customer satisfaction, every customer matters. I hope that people read this and share my experience. If this gets resolved, I will update this story to show task rabbit has addressed and fixed what happened.
They don't tell you actual service fee until after the task is complete. You think you know the total cost but then end up paying more with the added service fee.
I booked a tasker for some repairs to my deck. With my money he purchased $1500. Worth of untreated lumber then left it outside in the rain when he disappeared for two weeks. Home Depot said it was too damaged to return. He also bought plumbing and electrical supplies that had nothing to do with repairing the deck. He also charged me for a ladder ($150.00). He was completely incompetent. I have had to take down the entire deck because he did not properly connect the deck to the house and inspectors said it was now a safety hazard. At one point he said he would return the next day to finish the deck (it was nowhere near being finished). He then disappeared for two weeks. He did not call or e-mail me during that time. When he finally emailed me he said his child was ill and he would be unable to finish the job but his girlfriend would complete the deck. My tenant also saw (and took pictures) of him loading up his car with wood that was purchased with my money. I thought that it was safer to hire someone from an agency like this because they would carefully review a taskers qualifications and only send reputable people to do the job. I don't believe they check out the qualifications of their taskers at all. I wouldn't be surprised he had a long criminal history. BEWARE! I would never hire from them again.
The last three Taskers I've scheduled cancelled on me, two at the last minute. If I cancel in less than 24 hrs, I get charged, but there seems to be no consequences for Taskers.
I've used Task Rabbit several times for "handyman" type jobs around my home. Always happy with the people performing the work, and the quality of the work.
I someone to move a heavy box up one flight of stairs. I went to TaskRabbit and saw a tasker who stated that they performed lifting of heavy objects. I scheduled the task and we began to chat. He then informs me that he will need me to schedule and additional tasker. At this point, I realize that 10 minutes of work is going to cost me $200. I cancelled the task at that time (it was at least 2 days prior to the scheduled time). The tasker shows up and I tell him that I cancelled the task and he tells me that he was never notified. I'm not sure how that is my problem when there are clearly no tasks scheduled on my end. He then tells me that I will be charged for 2 hours. I called support and she offered to only charge me for one hour. Why am I being charged for something that didn't happen and was cancelled immediately on finding out the total cost? This morning I received a debit notification from my bank. I was charged for 2 hours. I now have to file a dispute with my bank. Both the tasker and support were incredibly rude and unhelpful. As soon as this issue is resoved, I will be deleting the app. I am never going to use this service again.
Non refundable when you sign up and after you sign up the app is tough to navigate. They don't make money on there business they make money on the fee you pay when you sign up
I booked with Abigail M. For a cleaning task at 12 PM today. She texted at 11:30, saying she is running late and I said it is ok. Then she disappeared and kept on saying she is getting delayed and I kept on waiting till 2 pm. I canceled all my appointments for the day and kept on waiting for her. Then she texted again saying she won't be able to complete the task to a good level because she will be late asked to cancel my task, and that she would come tomorrow instead. I clearly said I cannot do that because I work on Mondays till evenings and I booked her ages ago! I asked her politely to respect my time and actually respond since I have been waiting for several hours. Her response was that she canceled my task and said she did not like our tone.
I get charged if I cancel but the taskers do not get any penalties if they keep us waiting or cancel on us and speak rudely to us. This is unfair since we are paying for these services. Keep in mind that I tried calling her and she would not answer. Then she said that there are strikes (which is not true as you know today there are no strikes) then she contradicted herself again and said she has a task in Birmingham that she will go to (which does not make sense if there are rail strikes as she mentioned). She also charged me 16 pounds for not coming. How is this fair? How is this just? How is this professional?
I think this has happened several times already and this will truly affect the rating of your services. Sadly, I will be looking for other more professional services. We hope you take our reviews into consideration. This is unprofessional.
I put in a request for general maintenance. I did not book anyone, message anyone, speak to anyone but a "Chad" texted me.guess this am to say he was on his way. I told him I never booked anyone, he said I did because I opened message it automatically booked and PAID for him. I was not even home. Why would I book a service and then just forget…in 2 days?! I didn't. Nor did my husband. This man kept insisting I booked him and he was going to my house. This was all very dodgy and a little frightening because of his insistence. I told him not to go to my house and that I'd contact police. He told me I 'wasn't all there" when it was clear the scam wouldn't work. Their site is useless, convoluted, impossible to navigate and I don't use apps. Customer Service equally abhorrent. Do not give these people your address or contact information or credit card as it appears any random person will use them to attempt to enter your home at a random time and/or they will charge you fir services you never agreed to. Scammy and scary.
I booked a handyman from TaskRabbit yesterday. The handyman did a great job. However he did not complete the work and could not attach a bookcase properly because a screw was missing. He told me to get the missing screw, tell him through the chat when I have it and he would come back to finish the job free of charge (it takes 2 minutes to finish it). In the meantime, I gave the handyman 5 stars review, a 10% tip and I allowed him to charge 1h45min although he worked 1h31min. It is important for him to come back to put that screw as the bookcase is in my 5 year old's bedroom and needs to be properly secure or it may tip over and cause serious injuries. I got the missing screw but the chat with the handyman has been deactivated by TaskRabbit. I called Customer Service who said the chat can't be re-activated (so basically they refuse to allow me to communicate with the handyman who did the job) and told me to book another appointment (at £40/h)... I am speechless... Seriously? Is it TaskRabbit's work ethics? The handyman did not finish the job, he admitted it himself, he offered to come back to finish the job as he knows it is just a 2 minute job. On top of that, I gave him 5 stars review, a 10% tip and I allowed him to charge an extra 14 minutes, yet TaskRabbit are trying to milk me and they don't care about the safety of my 5 year old child? The cabinet is not secure properly, the job is not complete. How low can one get? For what? A few quids? This is the most disgraceful handyman company ever, and I've dealt with bad ones in my life...
To many irresponsible people that TaskRabbit only claims are "independent contractors" so there is nothing they can do when something goes wrong. Not worth it.
Really appreciated the help moving my mom into her new apartment yesterday! There is literally no way that I could have done it all myself... TaskRabbit was a godsend!
Answer: Mine responded and loved to chat. At the end, he cancelled the appointment. What a waste of time. Very disappointing.
Answer: Hi Carlos, thanks for your inquiry! When registering, a form of payment as well as bank info is required. The form of payment covers the cost of registration and the bank info is linked to your account so that you can receive payment from your Client once you begin tasking.
