I needed to replace a stolen phone to ensure that we all finished our "shared plan" at the same time. Swappa was easy to navigate and had numerous phone options to be acquired as a replacement. 2 days later, the phone arrived in the mail and was activated with no issues.
Swappa is the place to go, limited stupidity makes this a great sire for buying and selling. This is a monitored site so you are pretty safe, there are always people on these sites so you can have issues but for the most part, I have been very happy with Swappa!
Seamless and simple way to buy and sell phones and tablets in a transparent environment. Interested parties can see the transaction process unfold. It makes bidding easier to see how sellers have responded to previous offers
This was a great way to purchase an updated phone for a reasonable price. Having a family of five, updating our phones is costly and usually, time-consuming. This was economical and very simple. Thank you, Swappa.
This is my first time purchasing a phone on swappa, and it was a great experience. Sellers must post photos of the phone turned on which adds a bit of confidence to an obviously stressful situation. Reading other reviews, I understand that if my seller hadn't been an honest person I might've been in a pickle, but it feels to me there are less scammers on swappa than on eBay / craigslist.
Hi May, thanks for using Swappa! We're glad you had a smooth experience :)
As a first time buyer on Swappa buying from a first time seller on Swappa, I was nervous. However, after studying how Swappa review each auction and monitors sale and post sale activity, I decided to give it a try. I was not disappointed. The device I received was exactly as advertised and the entire transaction workflow and communication were spot on. I don't really buy/sell personal electrons very often, but if I do, I'll definitely consider Swappa. *Swappa... don't let growth kill your value proposition... that is... the "human" review of each auction. DA
I'd been looking on Craigslist for the last few weeks for an iPhone. But the fear of buying a dude or getting robbed was on my mind... Found swappa by chance on a google search. Happy I did. They got something for everyone. Plus, they have the criteria that sellers have to meet before they can sell the phone removing the uncertainty you might get with shopping on craigslist. I'm not saying craigslist is bad, but I like the securer feeling shopping on swappa.
I needed to purchase a new unlocked phone and so I heard about Swappa from my husband. It ended up being cheaper than Amazon for the same refurbished phone I was looking for and the seller I bought from had basically 5 stars. It was a great experience, my phone was in absolute great condition and it only took 2 days to ship to me. I'm really pleased and happy that I chose Swappa, saved like $40 too.
I have always been skeptical of purchasing electronics (particularly phones) online but I had to replace a phone and did not want to sign another 2 year contract. Swappa was recommended to me and I was not disappointed. Finding the phone I wanted and completing the purchase was fast and easy. Phone arrived 2 days later exactly as expected, in great condition. I will be a repeat customer.
I needed to replace a phone. I bought one on Swappa from the vendor 'It's All Wireless Inc.' Super fast shipping. Ridiculously well packed. Phone was as good as new. The only way I could tell it was used was I didn't get to peel the protective film off of the screen. Getting all my phones here from now on.
I was a bit hesitant as I was brand new to swappa. Now I am so happy with my experience on swappa and the choice in the selection of cell phones available, I can't wait to make my next purchase. The communication is very easy between seller and buyer. Also, the sellers are very quick to respond to all questions.
Recently bought a Lumia Icon after getting burned on eBay. The phone came in even BETTER condition than described! Swappa feels much more personal and a great community to do business with.
Looking forward to more!
The format of the site is great. I had been watching Ebay for the phones I wanted and kept getting outbid. I found both of them on Swappa and purchased them immediately.
Shipping is also included in the price, although it is left up to the seller who to ship with. Unfortunately this means you might be waiting twice as long for the USPS to finally get it to you as opposed to the more efficient UPS or FedEx.
I did have a problem with a blanket recommendation by Swappa to remove the SIM card. Even though some carriers store account information on them, many do not. In this case I was able to activate the phone, because the carrier doesn't use the SIM for anything but 4G access. In the end, the seller has a useless SIM card and I'm waiting for a new one.
I would recommend the site to anybody looking to buy a used phone.
Site is fantastic, simple to search for exactly what I needed. Customers have rating systems to look at to select sellers. Swappa was recommended to me by a cell phone repair shop when I went in to buy a phone. I will definitely return to Swappa in the future and have already recommended it to several people. Keep up the good work.
I am really glad I have stumbled upon swappa about two years ago. This is one great site and each phone I have purchased have all been mint condition plus great prices. I will continue to purchase phones through here because the transaction is easy and the sellers I have dealt with have been nice people. Keep up the good work swappa.
After searching a bunch of sites, Swappa was the best. Gazelle had phones, but they would go quickly. Swappa is nice because it lists the inventory. The seller and confirmation process was top notch and I received the phones in the condition as expected for a used phone.
Swappa delivered exactly what they said they would. The site was easy to use and I love the fact that you can filter and ask for a price drop from the sellers
Swappa is an option for buying and selling tech items that I use frequently. I trust the Swappa market place. My purchase of a Moto X Pure Edition was smooth and quick. I find that selling is cheaper on Swappa but it's every bit as reliable as eBay.
Swappa has been really great. I've purchased two phones from Swappa. Both phones were in great condition. Exactly as described. Delivery is fast and it's much more comfortable than eBay and Craigslist!
Was looking at EBAY for used phone when I happened to across Swappa site. Website was very straightforward to use to find the type of phone I wanted. Instructions on responsibilities and actions both parties to the transaction must follow were clearcut. Overall very pleased with the experience.

Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 3.6 stars from 3,176 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
