Arrived fast and in perfect coniditon. Really like that Swappa verifies the seller, will be using it for all future phone sales/purchases
My only gripe was the packaging, but that wasn't swappa's fault, overall I would shop on swappa again.
This was my second purchase on Swappa. I appreciate their follow through and help with the entire easy peasy process!
I've been with Swappa for almost 4 years now and it's the only place I'll sell a phone. It's really not a difficult process... you follow the listing guidelines. Attach pictures, input condition, IMEI, accessories, etc. and then finally take a verification photo once you have your listing ID. Sure, it's different than eBay. But if you want to sell on eBay, then sell on eBay and deal with high fees and a lack of customer service. I have 100% feedback on both eBay and Swappa, so I understand them both.
Their customer service is great and responsive. When I started selling on Swappa they were Android-only. When users of the site started requesting to list iOS devices, they listened and made it happen as well.
Their fees are much better than eBay. Actually, it's their LACK of fees that's better than eBay. If I list a phone for $400, Swappa adds $10, making it $410, and the buyer pays for the listing. It's a fair fee for all of those involved.
Another aspect of Swappa that I enjoy is the public messaging on the page of the listing. If someone wants to offer me $350 for my phone that I've listed, everyone sees that. This helps avoid lowball offers as well as keeps the communication open to the whole community. I may say that I'm willing to drop my price to $380 and someone else may want to take me up on that price.
After reading through the other reviews on the page I feel bad for those with non-working phones or that have issues with the sellers. What it seems that the others on this page don't realize is that those same things happen with eBay. You can get a phone shipped incorrectly by the seller, or you can have phone issues over time. Swappa isn't the entity selling you the phone, though, so they aren't responsible. However, any miscommunication or issue that I've had with others on Swappa has always been mediated very well by the staff there.
This is the 6th phone I bought through Swappa over the years and once again, I am completely satisfied with the experience.
I have not had one negative experience! I bought two Iphones and 6 ipods for family members as well as myself. I love Swappa!
Do not recommend
I bought an ipad from Sellword LLC
One of their top sellers and the ipad shut down after only 20 minutes
I fully charged it and kept trying it kept dying the seller agreed to send me a return label but i still has to drive to usps to drop it off then i sent it back and i left the seller a thumbs down feedback the sellers asked me to change it "asap"
And i refused because it was my honest feedback so he turned soar and hostile he said he won't refund me and it could take up to a month i aSksd for swappa staff help and all they did was take their top sellers side so all swappa can do is to recommend that i open a paypal
Case because swappa although had a rule of sellers not selling battery defective items they still do and obviously they do not uphold their standards or do anything to help so now after two weeks i am still waiting for paypal to step on and help if it wasn't for paypal they would steal my money
Very disappointed and will not recommend this place to anyone
I've used swappa to buy a few phones
Only had one problem and swappa took care

Super smooth.
It took an extra week to get my device, as the wrong one was sent to me originally.
I love the search feature. It makes it so easy to find exactly what you are looking for.
Great place to get a mobile phone. My was in great shape & had charger included. Thanks Swappa!
My phone arrived within in two days. It is in perfect condition! I have never been so happy!
Because all phone have a clean ESN, then you won't get any difficulty activate them, great website and good sellers
I am currently dealing with a bad situation through SWAPPA. I bought a ZTE Boost Max N9520, that showed to be in good, shiny condition with an a/c charger. When I received the phone, it had a deep scratch on the face, the water indicator is red and there are signs of possible corrosion on the SD card tray. SWAPPA said they don't deal with disputes, to contest it with PayPal and if I send the phone back, they would refund my $10 buyer fee and told me not to dispute the buyer fee with PayPal. How do I know that the seller isn't going to state that they never got the phone returned? The seller already stated that he doesn't want it back and that it isn't the same phone he sent. Went so far as to say, he felt that HE was being scammed. All I want is the phone as described, where is there room for a scam in that?
I also did not receive an a/c charger with it, the seller said he wasn't selling it with one, even though it is clearly in black and white on the listing. The whole transaction started out with the seller stating he did not receive my payment and later back tracking, stating that he forgot he was selling the phone on SWAPPA and did get the money. The phone was shipped in a flimsy envelope with a very thin layer of bubble wrap around it. There did not appear to be any damage to the envelope or any dampness nor water stains on the envelope. When I tried to turn the phone on, the LED just glowed red, I tried to charge it and still red. I ended up having to do a hard reboot that I found on line and the phone finally turned on. I am still awaiting an outcome, so far a good result is not looking very promising.
Born, we're sorry to see this situation. Swappa's refund policy is clear in stating that if you did not receive the device as advertised then you are entitled to a refund. And Swappa does "deal" with disputes by trying to help them be avoided whenever possible. However, in this situation we have a buyer saying one thing and a seller saying another, and both providing evidence to support their case. Unfortunately we can't provide judgement for who's telling the truth in a situation such as this, and that's where PayPal's dispute resolution process comes into play.
Used the site several times and no issues.
Highly recommend trying them once and see for yourself.
It was easy to find what I was looking for with Swappa. Fast delivery and as described.

Answer: Hi Peggy. If you receive a device that is not as advertised then you can return it for a refund. Our policy is that simple. Swappa staff works hard to prevent problems from happening, and PayPal has extensive buyer protections in case they do. Buy with confidence. Thanks for using Swappa.
Answer: Hi Alfred, Swappa requires all users to provide the ESN number for each device when creating a listing as a verification step. For more questions, please email our support team - help@swappa.com Thanks!
Answer: Very safe, I've bought and sold over 40 phones using Swappa and have only had one problem... When that happened both Swappa and PayPal had my back.
Answer: Yes, you should remove and keep your SIM card when you sell your used phone. SIM cards are tied to your account, so are not transferable. More information and why in our FAQ: https://swappa.com/faq/sell/sim_card_included
Answer: Because they are scammers and a holes. They can't be bothered with you. Awful site. Use eBay instead.
Answer: Swappa guarantees it which goes above and beyond paypal. They are running IMEI checks and they do a great job. It's on you when you receive your phone to go through the phone check list to make sure it's good, checking cameras, microphones wfi, bluetooth, water damage check, things like that. Its really worry free buying.
Answer: Contact Swappa support. If an item is not as described by seller, the buyer is entitle to a refund.
Answer: Most sellers don't ship to African countries. This is because they include a reasonable fee on their prices to cover for shipping in the US, I guess shipping to Africa would come at a higher cost and they seem to be avoiding that for whatever reason. However, you can research and register for a freight forwarding company and have your orders shipped to them. In turn, these companies will forward your order to you when they receive it. As I pointed out before, this is something you have to read about and carefully consider. Hope that helps.
Swappa has a rating of 3.6 stars from 3,176 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally satisfied with their purchases. Reviewers satisfied with Swappa most frequently mention great experience, new phone and mint condition. Swappa ranks 5th among Marketplace sites.
Thanks for using Swappa - we hope you'll be back :)
