The overall reputation of the company reflects significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to poor customer service and escalating costs. While some users acknowledge stable service performance at times, many express frustration with frequent outages, billing inconsistencies, and unresponsive support. Common complaints include difficulties in service cancellations, lack of transparency regarding equipment ownership, and inadequate resolution of issues. The sentiment is largely negative, with customers feeling undervalued and misled. This feedback indicates a pressing need for the company to improve its customer service practices and address billing transparency to enhance customer satisfaction.

Tricks customers into thinking they're paying low rates with competitive speeds, in reality (at least in my location) speeds are unreliable with subpar peaks and comes with ridiculously high and unavoidable fees that inflate the price higher than networks with better speeds like Verizon and AT&T.
My 96-year-old father (WWII vet) was a subscriber to Spectrum Charter cable for decades. Never late on a payment. When he passed last year I kept paying his cable bills as we tried to clear out his house (we live across country so setting was prolonged due to COVID reasons). I paid his Spectrum bills the on time the 3rd of each month. December 3/20 I paid I thought his last bill. The home was completely vacated 12/12/20. I called Spectrum Charter 12/17/20 to cancel. The next day they sent me a bill for service 12/18/20 through 01/17/21. After multiple calls including talking to a representative in their corporate office, they refused to waive this fee that specifically charges for a month AFTER termination. Saying it would be sent to a collection agency if I did not pay. Unbelievable. Spectrum is a heartless monopoly in the most evil way.
Had internet with them and it was spotty at best. When I decided to cancel due to price increases with no explanation or warning, they made sure they wouldn't get me back as a customer. The customer service representatives were very unprofessional - definitely bottom of the barrel. For that experience alone, I'd recommend you go with another option if you have the it.
Whenever you opt to leave Spectrum, they will charge you for a future 4 weeks worth of service you will not actually get, nor will they tell you about it in advance. Any attempts to continue using Spectrum services during a prepaid duration of time will be stoped by demands of additional "reconnect" fees. Spectrum is a rip-off!
I really wish I had another ISP, but I have spectrum. If you plan on getting Spectrum you should get used to double speak, lies, misdirection, playing the blame game, and not having internet.
Tried to assist my 88yr old aunt who recently sold her condo and moved across country. She has some memory issues and cannot remember the answers to the representatives questions like what's your 4 digit pin. Spectrum telling me her phone # is not the one on file. She does not utilize email and hasn't for a few years, but because she gave it to Spectrum years ago, but no longer accesses or knows how to, they refuse to disconnect services and stop charging monthly fee to her credit card. Real estate agent returned equipment when condo was sold, but yet they think it's ok to continue to charge her. I even asked for an address to mail a signed letter to disconnect services. I was told by Supervisor they do not accept letters. Beware if your elderly relatives have this service, but no recollection of PIN, or email they gave Spectrum. They make cancelling impossible. Poor business practices and zero ethics. -0 stars!
Spectrum is rated #40 (at the bottom) for service and prices go up every month. During this time of covid 19, it is plain to see that spectrum has no heart and will keep going up on pricing for cable t. V., internet, etc. This is the last month we will be using this provider.
Thus "service" is so bad it's hard to believe it's reality. The Techs that installed the boxes and the half dozen it so that have been to my house in the last year all tell me the boxes are not good and should be replaced. That's no joke. They just don't work like you'd expect them to. I would try into all the problems but I don't have the time to write a book. Just stay away and use streaming. I'm working up my streaming stack and I'm going to cancel ASAP
I can't believe that this company has a blanket raise across the country no matter if you lost your job or not of $5! In the middle of a pandemic! I called to ask about this and the agent was cold and very matter of fact that it is a raise for everybody in the United States because of more internet usage. No empathy. No suggestion of what other course of action. Just take it or leave it. Unfortunately, my town only had Spectrum as an option. Luckily, I am moving and I will not be using Spectrum again.
Nothing on the website worked, could not get into my account, tried four different verification codes, nothing worked. I then waited 40 minutes to speak with Customer Service and finally done. All this took a little more than 90 minutes. WHAT A JOKE OF A COMPANY!
After spending literally many, many hours (after on-hold an average of 25 - 55 minutes) talking to Spectrum Customer and/or Technical Service about every type of problem you could imagine: Bad service (many, many of these); defective cable equipment (too many of these); Technician repeat visits (most times they never solve a problem the first time); billing errors; hidden charges or price increase, I decided to dump their cable service. Suddenly the internet service I currently pay $56 for, will now cost $95!
Same EXACT service... with a 70% bill increase.
These "Fat Cats" don't deserve what they charge. The only thing good about them is their TV commercials that mislead with fine print smaller than a pin head, flashed on the TV screen for a milli-second.
I started with Spectrum internet and voice (only) on 8-27-2020 and canceled on 11-02-2020. On my first bill there was an erroneous charge for "Service Changes" iao $61.44. I called and they reversed the $61.44, along with $11.86 in "taxes, fees, and charges" smh. Throughout the first month I kept receiving email notifications that someone had added Spectrum TV. Of course they didn't make correcting any of this easy: I had to spend hours on the phone, and even drove to their office on one occasion to have the billing corrected each time. I finally cancelled my services on 11-02-2020, expecting a prorated final bill because they bill a month in advance. Well, when I called to cancel, no one mentioned that I would not receive a prorated credit, eventhough I specifically said that I would be waiting on my final prorated adjusted bill to pay it. So now, I am stuck with a full one month bill from 10-27-20 through 11-26-2020, eventhough I cancelled by phone with their customer service representative on 11-02-2020. Something told me not to get their services because they have allowed my debit card to be fraudulently used to pay for someone else's services without my knowledge or consent. And lets not forget that the first bill I received, as their customer, had over $70 added erroneously for "service changes" and "taxes, fees, and charges". I know that as consumers we have protections when our credit and debit cards are fraudulently used, but what about the elderly who do not pay such close attention to their statements or have the time and energy to drive around and make hour long phone calls to Spectrum? Everyone, please, if you get their services, pay close attention to your bills, the "terms of service", and your bank and credit card statements in general. If I can help it, I will never order Spectrum again - their business practices are shady.
Missing channels for 2 months on my package called several times and still not taken care of... ready to switch
Stay away from Spectrum. They tell you one price over the phone, then even tell you exactly how much you will pay after taxes and fees, but then charge you more. Upon calling and trying to get things resolved they claim they cannot find that package deal.
Horrible customer service. I was on the phone with them for literally one hour and fifteen minutes, before finally a manager can review the actual phone conversation I had with them upon initiating service. When account specialist transferred call to supervisor the call "disconnected". I never received a call back so I called back myself, and I had to go through the entire process all over again, because they had no way of reaching the same representative or manager. Instead I got another manager who did not review the call and said that there was no package pricing at that price. Upon asking him to review the call, he said he could not, so now I have to wait even longer to speak to a next level supervisor.
During the pandemic Spectrum knowing that paycuts, have happened all over, have been shutting down everyone's wifi, cable, mobil access. If you pay for all 3 services watchout without wifi nothing works, my tele.my phone, my computer.
After several years of lies and misinformation, it was time to give up on these clowns. So I canceled my service only 2 days into a new billing cycle. They told me they started a new policy (last month) that does not allow billing to be prorated and although I just canceled the service e< 30 minutes ago, restarting the service would be at the new rate ( of course higher). Only cable companies do business like this. I'm a Streamer for life.
This stupid service had 8 years of my loyal membership! But once Covid happened the service became so crappy that I was unable to use it even though I was paying for the upgraded plan. After numerous calls to their so-called Tech service, none of them being to help me except for saying restart your modem or wi-fi, I finally switched to another provider. Now they have the gall to actually bill me for the whole month and say there is no way they are going to consider anything to reduce it from my bill! Their customer service also tells me how they don't care about my business as when I bring up the point of cancelling the service, all she says is "OK, Bye"! They also go ahead and bill me for the modem which I already returned the very next day without even bothering to check with UPS so my bill is now double!
I have never encountered a customer service as crappy as this one and all because they think they have the monopoly over this region. Well guess what! You don't anymore! Good riddance to Bad Rubbish!
So when I played online competitive games, I would always crash for about 10 or fewer seconds. It always happened every day, and it got to the point where I knew when it would happen, like one time it was at 10:43 am and pm. So if you are looking for good internet and you're a gamer, don't even look at the spectrum.
Spectrum is not clear in their pricing when movies or "TV shows are chosen. They charge for normally free TV programming and my roommate requested Just the internet/WIFI. They make it too easy to choose TV shows/movies racking up costs. $273.92 is a high price for cable and or internet. I have had previous experience with them. It is sad that people are warned to stay at home practice social distancing etc. and get charged prohibitive fees to have some entertainment while we are home.
I spoke to a salesperson recently regarding their services. This call was supposed to be informational only because l am trying to determine the best service in my area. I was traveling for three weeks, upon returning home recently, l was shocked to receive a bill from this company. In addition, they sent several equipments. Why would this sales person sign me up without my consent? Secondly, when l called to complain, the person l spoke to told me to ship back their equipment. Why should l pay for shipment? I never signed up for Spectrum, so they should have someone pickup their equipment. What a nightmare, l am glad that l never signed up for this horrible service. This is extremely annoying and stressful to think that a salesperson signed me up for services without my knowledge.
Answer: They do not care about customer retention. That being said. I have to believe it is the poorest business model I have ever come in contact with.
Answer: They could give a shit - they create a monopoly in the area and do whatever they want - raise the rate, intimidate, and are very rude and no help to customers!
Answer: You're smart to stay with FIOS. Spectrum is the worst cable company around. They're very expensive and your bill will start creeping up every other month without any explanation. Avoid Spectrum!
