They charged me 4,298.29 for a rental that was not mine. I thought this would be an easy and quick reversal of charges and that's it. No way! Almost a month later and still NO EXPLANTION AND NO REFUND! Remember, this WAS NOT MY RENAL. I even has an affidavit from the renter stating this was his rental and still, No reversal. They do not respond, they are thieves and should be banned from conducting biz. STAY AWAY EVERYONE. They are absolutely they worst! They ruined my accounts and stole from me!
I rented a car from Sixt in late 2020 in Maui Hawaii. I had the car for one week and had a great experience. I went on to rent from them two more times while I was there. Three months after I rented the first car I received a bill from Sixt for damages to the vehicle I rented in 2020. The bill was for $555.25. I called them explaining that they had the wrong person. I also asked them if there was damage to the vehicle why did it take three months to get back to me? They never answer the question but they did send me pictures of the damages. The pictures they sent weren't even of the correct model of the vehicle that I rented. I pointed that out to them but they still insist that I owe them the money so they have turned me over to a collection agency. I am going to continue to fight this.
They have also said that I damaged the second and third vehicles that I rented from them. The third vehicle I barely drove anywhere. So I strongly urge you do not rent from these people and to tell all your friends what kind of company they are. They are a dishonest, greedy company that will definitely take advantage of you. DON'T RENT FROM SIXT.

When we rented a car from Sixt on our recent holiday, we did not get the car we wanted, they charged us more for the car they gave us. They did not put the contract on the screen when they get you to sign it, they just read the terms to us. The contract when it came via email was in German.
We had booked to drop back to a different location and we eventually swapped the car out for the car we did want and when we returned the car they kept 1000Euro of our deposit because we returned to different location, even though that was always the plan. They stated it wasn't
They then, a week after dropping the first car back sent us a letter to say that car was damaged. We filled in a form they sent to state we were not aware of any damage when dropping car off and that no one when over the car with us.
When we dropped it off, they were open but had us return to a car park, lock the car and put key in drop box. No one went over the car with us. Now 2 months on they have sent us a bill for 1500Euro for the damage, which we were never aware of. They told us that we just didn't notice that they inspected the car.
There is not transparency, and they seem to just keep adding costs on regardless. We were very unhappy with every aspect of the experience
DO NOT RENT FROM SIXT. GO ELSEWHERE. We had a horrible experience with SIXT in Rome at DaVinci airport. We were not given a receipt for our rental, although we had asked repeatedly for one. We were told the printer was broken. I shared the rental agreement paperwork we had from Priceline and was told that was the price we were paying. Upon returning the car, we asked that they check the fuel, they did not. We asked that they do a visual inspection of the car. They would not. We asked for a receipt and once again were denied. Additionally, although we requested this as well, we had no online access to a receipt.When the credit card bill came in it was over $750USD more than the agreed upon price. I have been fighting this for months. Calls, paperwork and emails to Priceline, SIXT and the credit card company have only ended in frustration. The reason- we had no original receipt.How convenient of them not to give the customer a receipt. I am furious and disgusted by this companies practices.
We were a family of four adults traveling to Italy. We have travelled extensively and have never experienced such unscrupulous business practices in Europe

My wife and I had to cancel our trip to Florida because of Covid 19. Sixt charged us a $135 cancellation fee! I'll never do business with them again!
Do not use this company! On 11/19, I went online and paid in full with my debit card a rental car. I called the company to confirm what I needed to bring with me on 11/20 to pick up the car. I showed up 5 min before I was supposed to be there and they informed me that they couldn't take a debit card without an outgoing flight, which I wasn't flying. The clerk informed me that they couldn't take the debit and said she can refund it but would take up to 10 to 15 days to process. She then stated she could set me up with another car but the rates would be more and would need a major CC. I cancelled my holiday vacation and called their customer service when I got home. That was no help, I had talked to the Supervisor who informed me it was my fault for not reading the terms and conditions (which is in the FAQ part of their website, not at checkout). She then stated it would be 3-10 days to get my refund. So I waited until today to email (10th day) and was informed by email that I was a NO SHOW and they will not give me a refund. I called the customer service and they documented my call and told me they would escalate the call. In the meantime, they are keeping my $478 I paid and now is lying about it.
DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY, they are frauding the customers. Not just me, look at the reviews coming from others. Why wonder their rating is so low. I have also filed a complaint with the BBB.
They were pretty rude in the office at the Airport in Budapest. As soon as they got to hear I don't have an insurance by them but by another company they treated me like I'm an idiot Because of that they reserved 2500 on my credit card instead of 2000. When we picked up the car, they didn't care about the demages we've found but at the return I bearly stopped the engine their agent was all over the car. Without saying hello, good morning or whatever he started to ask my boyfriend aggresively about the demage on the car. I tried to answer and tell him that although we don't think we cauesed the scratches but we are insured so it's no big deal, the agent didn't listen just kept on saying that we are not insured at them so they will charge it from my credit card. He coulnd't answer to my questions, he was just busy with the fact we are not insured by them so we have to pay. He was arrogant and disrespectful. Too bad we had to finish our lovely weekend with such a bad experience.

MY one and only experience with Sixt Car Rental Comnpany was bad. Read the contract carefully before agree to rent a car from them.
I will never rent a car from this shady business again. When we picked up the car, they never did an inspection. So I was very surprised that when we dropped it off, the guy walked around and said that there was a lot of damage to the front of the vehicle. We had only driven the car to and from the local university for Parent Weekend and had parked in the hotel and school covered garage. I questioned how he would think that I had cause the damages to the car when there was no inspection done when I picked up the vehicle. I asked him to note on the paperwork that I didn't cause the damage. He told me not to worry and to just sign off on the ipad. While waiting in line for the shuttle back to the airport, I received my email receipt where it said that I had agreed to the damages claimed by the employee. I immediately went back to speak to the manager where he said there was nothing he could do. He said that I should be receiving a call or email about the damages and I can just refute it? Well, I'm reading some of the reviews and it looks like this isn't the first time they have done something like this where they charged another customer $800 4 months later for a supposed dent in one of the rims. After 30 minutes of standing in line with 30 other customers, the shuttle bus finally arrived for us to be told the bus driver is going on lunch break and to wait for another shuttle bus. We didn't want to take a chance of being late to our flight so we had to pay $16 for an Uber. Even if we had waited for the next shuttle bus, the small shuttle wouldn't have fit all of us in the vehicle. I have rented multiple vehicles from all the major car rental companies and I have never had to deal with this type of unscrupulous business practice of lying to the customer. Not to mention the lack of service with the infrequent shuttle bus.
This company just flat sucks, cancelled my reservation and they refuse to give a refund because my flight was delayed. They also stole my sunglasses out of returned car. Just a $#*!ty company, stay clear of this dumpster fire!
Sixt car rental is a scam. Don't believe on line prices or car availability. Waited an hour and 15 in line to find out. Don't use Sixt!
After the review was out, Sixt contacted me and refunded the concerned overcharge. It seems writing review is useful.
I collected my car in Paris at around 1100 hrs on Day 1 and the rental rate is of course counted on day (every 24 hrs) basis. I inputted my return timing as 0600 hrs on the last day in Bordeaux as catching the flight but in natural sense I was allowed to return it by 1100 hrs something that day without incurring any extra day rental. This is my understanding from many major car rental companies.
It was due to heavy traffic, I could not return it on time but after 0800 hrs, still it was within the same 24 hrs cycle However, Sixt charged me a late return fee of 14,4 € as without informed them of this delay...
It was non-sense and very disappointed. Bye, Sixt.
About the website - The website is not too intuitive and login doesn't always work using a username or email. Figuring out the website was a little difficult but it ended up working out.
I am writing this website review even though it relates only to a specific location primarily because I would have loved to have seen a review before my rental. This is my contribution to the Sitejabber community.
About my rental - I rented a car in Fort Lauderdale. They have an off-airport location. Now my ratings for this particular location and rental:
Price was excellent - Total price including taxes and fees was about 40% cheaper than the lowest other price (E-Z Car) and less than half the price of the large companies. Part of the reason for the low price was the off-airport location which saves certain airport usage fees.
The shuttle bus wait from the airport was about 10 minutes. Ride was about 5 minutes. Bear in mind that if you do not fly in to the terminal across from the Rental Car center there will be an additional airport shuttle ride necessary - but no different than any other rental company.
The line at the counter was just a couple of people so about a 5 minute wait.
Rental process was quick and seamless. My car was ready immediately and fully fueled.
Note - You must use a CREDIT CARD to process the rental, a DEBIT CARD is not enough. You can pay however you like but need a credit card to rent the car. They put a $250 hold on the card which is relatively standard.
Car was not brand new (a Hyundai with 8,000 miles) but in decent condition and with nice options so not a stripped down model. There were some scratches but I photographed them an pointed it out - so I had no problem upon the return.
The return process was very quick (<3 minutes) and the wait for shuttle to the airport was just a couple of minutes. A downside with off-airport rentals in Fort Lauderdale is that the rental car shuttle takes you to the airport shuttle bus stop at one terminal and you need to take the airport shuttle to get to the other terminals. Rental Car buses are not permitted to drop off passengers anywhere other than the Rental Car center.
Overall I highly recommend Sixt for rentals at Fort Lauderdale airport.
