ShopSmarter is something that you get "signed up" for when you accept rebates from certain purchases. I have no clue what I even purchased to get signed up, but they started charging my credit card. Beware... If you find yourself getting charges from this scam call *******536 to get the charges reversed; at least that part was simple (although I haven't seen the refund yet, I just cancelled my "membership").
I was baited to link one bestbuy purchase to shopSmarter which require opening an account. I was never informed in any way that this is a paid membership, and it has been silently charging me for half a year now. This service should be sued. Very disgusting like a scam
How can u be in buisness. They promise rewards. But thier charges fees monthly charges have put me 478 dollars in the hole with my bank. While I wait for my. Cash back reward from best buy I'll have to take it to court. It's not fair. And it's not. Right. They best fix this
Otherwise, You might shop intermittently. Makes no sense to spend $64.85 for Shop Smarter over a few months while you bought nothing for several of those months. I spent $194.83 at Target. I spent $93.88 at Macy's, as well. Bought $288.71 worth of items. Add the $64.85 for $353.56. Shop Smarter cost me 6%; like another sales tax. The company didn't give me any money. More like Shop Dumber.
They flagged my account because I bought a expensive purse for my wife and told me the reason was according to a review that purse was bought for retail purposes not personal. Meaning they were saying they won't give me 10% cash back because I bought that purse to sell. I have no idea how they even came up with that conclusion. I reached out to customer service at least 5 if not 7 diff times, and each time it was "a manager will get back to you". No one ever did. They also said they sent checks from previous months that I never received either. Again "a manager will get back to me". No manager was ever available to speak even if you wanted to wait, only option was they'll call you back. Which they of course never did. This website is a SCAM, stay away from them!
I was promised a promotional $10 cash back offer after I made a purchase on another website. ShopSmarter required that I pay $2 for a trial of their service to qualify for the cash back rebate. I paid for the trial, submitted the proof of purchase as requested, but have not received the promised cash back. I emailed customer service twice, no response. I called and the first person told me it could take up to 2 weeks. Called back after 2.5 weeks and they said it could take up to 3-6 weeks... What a joke. Seems like they are just hoping people will pay the $2 then forget to follow up on the rebate that they delay indefinitely.
I come to notice a monthly transaction on my credit. I never created an account with this ap. It must not have been clear that I was connecting to a monthly subscription plan. This is deceptive marketing.
Unlike other cashback services they charge $16 per month to have an account. I have my food delivered from Walmart and I used ShopSmarter. At some point, when payouts became substantial ($50+ per month), they closed my account claiming that I used it for commercial purposes.
According to ShopSmarter website, payout is done by either check or PayPal. According to webchat representative Maria, PayPal is not an option. On top of being incompetent, she's also rude. Not the best way to start business relationship.
Placed an order 1month ago to buy a portable BBQ grill oven, but the goods was never delivered, and no refund was made up to this moment. Complaint email is not responded. Finally, complained this disputed transaction to my credit card company to chargeback and have my money back. Shop Smart's malpractices include: 1) misrepresentation on supply of goods; 2) unnecessary holdup of customers' monies; 3) failure to refund.
Don't fall into this online company's trap!
I never really used them but from the get go when I got a 19.99 charge and was told it was my membership fee, I called and canceled right away. The guy in customer service had a voice that just sound's always put out. He told me that the information about the membership fee pops up when I agree to join. I don't remember it, or otherwise I wouldn't have signed up. Plus I was told that they mail me a $10 check for their big rebate hook. Yeah I can't vouch for huge savings with them one way or another, but I know I can save myself 19.99 a month by not being a member.
Dishonest company and terrible customer service. They have charged monthly membership fees for months and NOT paying me the cashback. Been communicating with the customer service and not getting any help.
Never seen a penny from them. (Never expect to get anything becouse I NEVER SIGN FOR IT!). 19 months they took from me $12.97. I noticed that when I stopped using my VISA card. Will do everything to ruin this company.
Be careful. Unlike Rakuten, which gives you rebate without charge, this site will charge you a monthly fee of just under $10 without your knowledge. I don't think that's legal, they should be notifying you of the monthly charge at least annually but they do not do that.
I have no idea who are what this company is. Since September they have applied hundreds of dollars to my credit card that I never authorized or used don't even know who they are. It's very alarming to think that a company can get personal private information especially when you've never opened even a text message from them or been on this site. I did not read any reviews I am going by my credit card with fraudulent charges that I disputed of course and sure enough somehow got a hold of my card and charged over $500. I highly suggest if you ever went on their site check your credit cards because if they can get my information when I didn't go on there I can't imagine how much damage they could do to someone that did go on this site.

I signed up and was charged the initial $1.97 7 day membership trial. I didn't find much use for ShopSmarter at the moment so I let my membership expire while I had a $10 promotion bonus awarded from a recent Best Buy Purchase. Less than a week after my free membership expired, my account was shut down without warning. I wanted to sign back in to see if my $10 promo was being processed still and was thinking about renewing my membership online. I only found this out because I was unable to sign in to the website and when I called customer support I was informed that unless you pay, you won't be able to sign in to your account. I highly discourage anybody from supporting this companies shady business tactics and for all businesses that advertise them to immediately stop as you are supporting a company that takes advantage of your customers.

I started in December 2018 I signed up with Shopsmarter and I could not be more happy. I have saved a lot and my check its's always in time. The only thing I would love for them to change is to send the money directly to my bank account instead of a check through mail. But above everything else they are amazing! I'm very happy with this company!

I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews. If you do any online shopping at all this will pay for itself in no time. Yes you get charged $9.97 a month but you also get 10% back from every retailer you buy from if you go through their site. Up to $1000. 00 a year. I love it! I started buying a lot of things online and I get an extra $200.00 a month! I will definitely be signing up again next year!
