0 Star if I could! They suck! Go to Ebates! Dont ever come to this site! They ask for all the order information and require a lot of evidence for just $3 cash back! Especially when you need to pay the monthly fee?! Seriously?! Also they have the cap limit for $1000 Cash back every year! If you already have such requirement and limitation why bother to keep asking so much evidence for all the order information? Gosh Very frustrated to this website and who ever is reading this. Don't ever try it! The worst cash back website EVER! Ebates make your life easier for sure!
I gave this a try after a store I shop and trust recommended it. Mistake. I tested and they did not track. I offered all the info needed to complete. Still they "couldn't find it". Support is cut copy and paste. Finally out of 10 transactions three were approved after I pestered them several times. I cancelled the monthly payment, they closed the account and never sent the check with money owed. WASTE OF TIME.
Hi Dawn, we're sorry to hear your cash back didn't track. Please reach out directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com and we'll be happy to help.
This service is awful. They will fish you under "get 10$ or whatever back from purchasing today", you will be like, nice 10$, but no, they will take your card, signed up you for membership without telling you. Do NOT get fished them!
I just received an email that there is a hold on my account. After a quick google search, I see that this is a common tactic used by their company. After being paid by the merchant, they refuse to payout and keep the money on the back end. All the reviewers here are correct in claiming they are a fraudulent company. Shame I didn't read this first.
Hi Nate, a member of our team will reach out directly to help.
I didn't sign up for this! Took $23.95 out of my account! When I've tried to reach them I've been told by them it takes 3 months to get a response? Isn't this illegal somehow? Is there a way to file a claim?
Hi Terri,
We're sorry to hear about the confusion regarding a membership with us at sign up. If you still have not been able to cancel your account, you can always email customerservice@shopsmarter.com or call our customer service line at 888-734-7456. Typically, our customer service reps respond quick and diligently. We hope this information is helpful!
Sincerely,
The ShopSmarter Team
Unfortunately I did to check my credit card statement Carefully enough and by the time I did I had been billed for 7 months of fees. I did not even know what this service was and had to look them up online to find out. I called and she said it was linked to a Walmart purchase I made 7 months ago. I did not sign up for this service and they refused to refund the charges. I asked for proof that I signed up and Nicole P ID#6024 said could send me a welcome email. I will also be disputing this with my credit card company.
Hi Kera, I apologize for the confusion regarding your account. I can certainly explain to you how you signed up, as well as take care of cancelling and refunding your membership. Please contact me directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com. Thanks!
This is a scam. They have attached themselves to Bed Bath & Beyond and possibly other online order companies with a pop-up. I gave them my credit card number but not my secure code. They immediately charged my credit card. They NEVER said there would be a charge for their services. I have cancelled but my credit card company says that I may have to get a new number because although I cancelled my ShopSmarter account, they may keep trying to charge me.
Hi Shannon,
Once you cancel your account you will no longer be charged again in the future. I would be happy to issue you a refund for the charge. Can you please reach out to me directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com and reference Customer Loyalty #D93?
Thanks!

So I signed up for that $10 cash back for a purchase I made in Walmart online. I didn't know anything about a fee! When I saw these reviews I freaked out. I called quick and a really nice guy answered. I was expecting the worse, but luckily they didn't charge me the fee nd cancelled my account. They said that their is a 7day trial, since I cancelled the same day I signed up, it didn't affect me. I was very fortunate. He even said I will still receive the $10 cash back. So I am actually very pleased with how things worked out. Sorry to hear not so much for the rest..
Hi there!
Thanks so much for sharing your experience with this page. We're happy to see your concern was resolved without any issues:)
We do understand there has been some confusion regarding the cost of our program after the 7-day free trial period. Every user has the opportunity to take advantage of our benefits for free within the first 7 days and also claim their introductory bonus. Regardless of whether or not you cancel before your trial ends, you will always receive the savings you earned during your trial period.
Please let us know if there is anything else we can assist you with! Thank you!

I am a review lady. I do not buy until I have visited numerous websites checking reviews of an item or company. I just purchased a rug from walmart and I saw the ad to get 10% rebate on items. I immediately asked myself whats the catch. I was tempted to take the offer but googled shopsmart reviews and saw the terrible rating and experiences. Utilize reviews before you make these kind of purchases. Thanks guys.
Hi Cherry,
If you shop online often, we certainly believe that ShopSmarter.com is certainly worth the monthly fee. If you have any specific questions please reach out to me directly at Help@FreeShipping.com and reference case #318.
Thanks!
Joined solely for the $10 rebate from a purchase already made. Come to find out, they charge you upon enrollment (reoccurring $10) and mailed a check that arrived well after the "free trial" period. So had I not cancelled immediately, I would have been in the hole even after cashing that check.
I do a lot of shopping online for business and personal use. I use Ebates and Mr Rebates all the time without any issue.
I came across this website and its seemed great. After i placed a bunce of orders for which i was surpassed their $1,000 threshold. I got an email stating that their they only give cashback for personal purchases.
I responded that I (probably like most other people) don't read the small print, especially as the established cashback sites (Ebates, Mr rebates.)don't have this exclusion, and that this kind of exclusion should be Boldly proclaimed, not buried in small print.
I asked that they at least honor the % of Cash back their competitors were offering but they refused, and walked off with cashback they received on my purchases.
It seems that this scam of a company purposely buries this major exclusion (just looking at some of the other reviews...) as they than take all the cashback they receive without giving any to the customer.
We were misleading to believe that $10 cash back was because of our single item purchased at Bed Bath & Beyond. If Shopsmarter.com was a legitimate company, this company was supposed to inform us any recurring fees, including its terms and conditions, right after asking us for our personal and credit card information —- However, this was not the way... What a cheater! We called and stopped Shopsmarter.com to take any further fees from us. We are still at loss of $2 even if the cash back of $10 would be sent to us.
Hi Carol, I apologize for any confusion regarding the membership fee. Please reach out directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com. I will be happy to help. Thanks
Why can't smart shopper be removed and brought up on charges of fraud? Hoping to get money back on my purchase I had to tell them where to mail it AND credit card information only to be informed that they are sorry they can't do it. AND charged my card for their services. Rating should be zero stars.
Hi Steve, we're sorry for any confusion regarding the membership fee. Please reach out directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com, we will be happy to help.
Ordered a sewing machine, offered a $10 rebate. Applied for the rebate, no rebate but a monthly fee of $9.97, plus $1.97 "other" fee. I called tonight and told them to refund my money and forget the supposed rebate on the sewing machine. I'm going to find out why Walmart promotes these people. I should have read more closely the part about a monthly fee, and then I would have "Shopped Smarter"!!!
Had multiple claims approved through ShopSmarter earlier this year, but have not had 4 claims approved since July. I have filed Missing Cash Back requestS, and have heard nothing from the company besides "we could find nothing wrong and you need to wait."
I have tried to call and chat and the customer service was TERRIBLE. Terrible chat experience. The agent did not seem to care about my issue and was not helpful. Knew very little and seemed like she just wanted to end the chat quickly.
I am beginning to think this site has become a scam which attempts to delay paying cashback for as long as possible while collecting the monthly fees.
Hi Floken,
I'm sorry to hear about this experience. Please reach out directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com and I will be happy to look into your account.

I bought a TV off of WalMart.com and there was a banner ad for ShopSmarter advertising 20% on all orders from WalMart, if I signed up. I signed up and got back 20% until I had gotten back ~$1000, over the course of 9 months. I canceled my membership because you can't get back more than $1000/year. After the year had elapsed, I tried to sign up again but they canceled my account because they said I had two accounts open which was against their Terms of Service. I had previously had an account open, which I closed. How is that considered "having an account open"? I don't consider myself to "have" an account if I'm not paying for the services or receiving any benefits.
Having two open at the same time would be understandable but not letting me reactivate my old one after enlightening me of the misinterpreted Terms is poor business.
This review will be edited if ShopSmarter reaches out to explain why they won't let me have an account.

I've contacted Walmart customer service and complained to them about the ad. I said I knew that it wasn't from Walmart, but that Walmart had responsibility for allowing such an ad on their site, especially when the ad is designed to look like it comes from Walmart. The customer service reps that I talked to said they are "escalating" the issue. I also mentioned that I won't make any more orders from walmart.com until the ad is gone. This is something others can do and it will cause some action eventually. Companies take notice when you hit them in the pocketbook.
I'm willing to bet that the company isn't even located in the U.S. Such is the case with many such entities. Also, I'm suspicious of a couple of the five-star reviews here. These kinds of companies are notorious for doing their own "reviews."
Hi Marv, I apologize for the confusion you had regarding the membership fee. We do believe that it is clear that ShopSmarter.com is a membership service. We list the charge 3 times prior to you being billed. It is first right next to the field where you enter your credit card number, again in the terms and conditions that you must agree to prior to signing up and lastly the membership fee can be found in the welcome email that you were sent upon signing up. If you were charged by us, please let me know and I would be happy to take care of this for you. You can email me directly at Help@ShopSmarter.com. Thanks!
On January 31,2019, I received an email from ShopSmarter.com saying "Claim an introductory rebate of $20 Cash Back for your recent Walmart purchase Just for trying ShopSmarter. I tried it and they did send me a check, but it was only for $10, not $20. I emailed Customer Service several times asking where the other $10 is, and today I received a check for $20. Can't complain about that!
Hi Stephen,

I saw the ad for getting 10% back on my online purchase for Bed Bath & Beyond, so I signed up. Never received the 10% cashback for that purchase even after sending multiple emails. But I have been charged $10 and even though I had a welcome bonus they get you by not sending it for two months so you end up paying $10 no matter what. This is a scam do not sign up!

Though I enrolled on the website for trial without knowing that it has a membership fee, I was charged 1. X dollar immediately for membership.
I don't know how a website can charge for a trial period. On top of that, they don't show about membership charges during any time of enrollment.
Yes, i do agree with other reviewers that perhaps this might be a scam.
