Very sketchy scam
September 26, 2020

I was directly by B&B to this website with the impression it's an B&B associated site that offers cash back. However, by putting in some information, I was immediately charged 2 dollar without consent. There is no information about this charge when I signed up. At this point, I realize this is a scam and quickly cancelled the so-called membership which will charge 10 dollars repeatedly later on. I guess Shopsmart's business model is by coxing millions of people unknowingly to pay the 2 dollar trial fee and then 10 dollars later on from those did not cancel. Very very fishy, this is a typical mode of scam. It's kind of unbelievable a renowned store like B&B is involved in this. Don't fall for it! It's just a SCAM!

Good cashback

Everything is working very good after 2 couple of years of membership.
Sometimes 10%, sometimes 20% when they have an offer.
In 2 years only once i have an issue with a Best Buy purchase that even sending them an email with the information they never give me that cashback. But other than that I would recommend specially for heavy users.

An email saying if I signed up for the site I would get a $20 bonus so I figured why not. Registered for the site and the deal was no where to be found. Said I could get $10 but if they lied about that what else might they be lying about! Try to complain to customer service and they ignore you.

Deceive customers!
May 15, 2017

I was told to pay $12.97 monthly after I sign up at shopsmarter.com. Yesterday, I found a $12.97 payment to Shopsmarter in my bank account. Then I send a email to them to ask what does this payment use for. However, today, I got email which said my account has been canceled! I didn't tell you to cancel my account! How can you do that without my agreement! I checked "Terms of Use" and they didn't say how much exactly the member should pay.

That's totally cheat

Fake $10 offer
September 30, 2019

I made an online purchase on Bedbathandbeyond and received email regarding shipment confirmation that says "You are qualified for $10 cash back for this purchase". After following steps on Shop Smarter they ask for Credit card number. I contacted Shop Smarter to find out why it's necessary and they confirmed there's no $10 cash back. Credit card number would be used to charge monthly membership. So this offer was fake in order to get customers' credit card numbers for membership. Scam.

Lysol Buy Scan
September 7, 2020

Total scam... I tried to order 4 cans of Lysol spray@$4.99. They never sent me the product and further charged my apple care over $250 in freight charges. I am in a dispute now with Apple on these charges. Vendor is impossible to get a hold of. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THEM.

Fee Eats Up Your Refund!

Shop smarter? They charge $10 a month, which means you'd have to spend $100 a month on eligible items just to break even! I, for one, rarely spend over $100 a month online. You don't even know if an item is eligible until you do a search for it. So even if you do spend over $100 a month, chances are, several items won't be eligible. Just compare the value between Amazon Prime and Shop Smarter. AP costs $100/year, and for that you get free shipping on most items, free video streaming from Amazon Prime Instant Video, free audiobooks and Channels from Audible, free music streaming, free Kindle book borrowing (if you own a Kindle), free book borrowing from Amazon Prime Reading (for everyone), free grocery and restaurant delivery (in certain areas), unlimited cloud storage for photos, and much more. SS costs $120/year, and for that you get 10% cash back on certain eligible items... that's it. Need I say more?

Mislead you to believe that you were getting $10 cashback. After giving your credit card information, which I was leary of, they Took $1.97 from my account. I'm now going to their website to get my money back and cancel my account!

I made a purchase on Walmart.com a few weeks ago and saw a banner that said i could get $10 rebate from my purchase. I went ahead a filled out the form and paid $1.97 membership fee for 7 days and within a few weeks i received a check in the mail for $10.00. Be sure to cancel the membership before 7 days expire or you will be charged $12.97 for 1 month membership.

This company is trash. If you see sitejabber, run. I purchased something through Wal-Mart and was offered $10.00 in a rebate to purchase through garbage jabber. It was next to impossible to cash in on the rebate. Avoid this company at all cost!

This is extremely bad that they charge account without providing service. All i would suggest please cancel all auto subscription with them.

It doesn't tell you the membership fee when you sign up. I never get any money back. The customer service is nice because they have already got your money. You can cancel your membership at any time, but no refund.

DON'T DO IT! IT'S A SCAM
December 5, 2018

I signed up for the $20 rebate and when I signed up and called in to confirm, I got a customer service agent that said Oh well, there's nothing I can do about it. Unless you want me to have someone call you back. I waited and no call. I have cancelled my account and want my $1.97 back! I feel like I have wasted so much time with ShopSmarter when there are so many other companies that actually follow thru with their commitments!

Hi,
I did not use any service from this company but still have to pay one year for some kinda fee I don't know why. It cost me 12,97USD every month until now it's one year. I didn't notice that until I check my history now. There's no email or notification about the use of this. I didn't even know this company exist until I check the info on my bank account. It's totally a scam.

This is a real scam

Beware!
They charge $12.97 for an "alleged" membership, and the $10 they promise to give you is processed between 3 to 6 weeks, meaning, that they will charge you $25.94 before you get your $10, plus the $1 withdrawn from your account at the time of your registration.
Nice scam.

SCAM or fraud?!

Misleading the customer at wal-mart online shopping. I didn't sign up for this too! When I've tried to reach them I've been told charged 4 times. Isn't this illegal somehow? I will also stop online shopping at wal-mart which provide this trick service to customers.

Ordered lap top battery from Walmart.com. Gave my Visa account number. Then my account is charges for membership which I knew nothing about. Chase gave me the phone number. They will credit my account. And wait for them to refund my money. Thank You Chase.

I signed up and did not receive any cash back. I would have to call and email my receipt multiple times even though the purchase was done on their website. When the cash back was small I would get a check. When I purchased a costly item with cash back of $40 They would never give cashback but would for months charge me the monthly fee while I continually sent emails of the receipt with proof of purchase. Finally my fees went way beyond any benefit that the service claimed. I did however insist on a refund on some of my monthly charges which I received.

Almost a scam
January 4, 2024

I use this service for about four months, intermittently, making my normal purchases at the qualifying retailers, and each month saw about a five dollar gain over what I spent. Then when it came to the reason I signed up (holiday shopping around Black Friday), I spent $5000 across various stores that all qualified (mostly Best Buy). Then I tried to log into my account and I got an error. After calling multiple times, the only thing I was told is that my account had been closed prior to my transactions, and that I had forfeited any of the pending cashback I was owed with no option for a refund. I called multiple times and they said everything was sent to me in an email and that they couldn't tell me anything over the phone, and the only way to communicate with a supervisor was through an email.
I work in IT, I checked every aspect of my email servers, and there was nothing ever sent to me. Even after explaining this to them, they did nothing to assist me. So in the end I guess I made $15 but I would've made more if I just used Rakuten which is an awesome, reputable (and free) cashback service. Please don't give shopsmarter your money.
