I placed many orders with Sharper Image this holiday season. It was a total bait and switch in that the $25 "gift card" is not actually a $25 gift card... it can only be used if you purchase $50 or more AND you can NOT use your gift card with ANY promo codes. And, the 20% "cash back" is the same sketchy setup. If you ordered multiple items in one order and they are shipped separately, you will get multiple 20% cash back emails (one for each shipment). The crappy part is you can't combine these to use for one order - so you may get a $10 cash back and a $15 cash back from the same order but you can only use one per order which is ridiculous and pointless as a free shipping promo (since their shipping is way over priced) is a better deal than using a $10 cash back! Also, I actually didn't get my cash back code for an order and spent a ridiculous amount of time with customer service. It took over 2 weeks to get the code and it was on Dec. 23 (too late to use for XMAS). Lastly, customer service was a nightmare. I placed an order that I wanted to modify and called within an hour of placing the order. Customer service said they could not do anything and that I "waited too long" to call. I asked how long I had and they said 25 minutes (don't forget I spent at least that amount of time just waiting to talk with someone). Nonetheless, I asked them to just cancel the order and I would repurchase with my changes... no can do! They wouldn't even cancel my order 1 hour after placing it. UNBELIEVABLE. I had to wait until I received the items, call customer service again... wait for forever oh and get this... returns are not FREE! Beware!

The TV headphones I bought for my husband do not work. They are supposed to send the sound through the headphones and the TV is supposed to be silent (for me, in the same room trying to go to sleep :) It is not. The TV still makes sound and the volume knob on the headphones doesn't even work. When my husband called to get technical assistance he was aggressively targeted by a representative (on a customer service number provided in the written pamphlet enclosed with the headphones) to give her his credit card so he could pay a $2.00 shipping to send him a $100 gift card for his "inconvenience." Totally a scam! He said no he just wanted to know how to operate it correctly. She finally hung up on him when he would not give her what she wanted. He called a different number and was basically told that the itemt doesn't work the way we thought it did (from the description on their website!) and we could return it. My husband told him about the other woman and her attempt to scam him. He left the line to report this to his supervisor supposedly. When I got online to return the item, it had a long video on all the details on how to return it. The key though was that when your order number pops up it's supposed to pop up a return item box to click on. Without that box to click on you can't go any further! There was no Return button even though I tried to go through the process many times. When I called customer service (both numbers) I got an automated menu. I pushed the button to get a customer service representative or to discuss "returns" (I tried it both ways)--all I got was static. No recording, no person etc. Nothing. This business needs to be run out of business! They should at least have to change their name. I thought Sharper Image was a good company but I was sorely wrong! I wish I had done research on the company ahead--I did not know it went through bankruptcy years ago. I just learned that when did a search due to the problems described. With the Sharper Image name I didn't think I needed to research it! Do NOT ever order from this company and spread the word. I'm out $96.

I ordered a vertical bicycle stand for a friend as a gift from sharper image. I didn't know that they offered such items, and I haven't thought about sharper image in years because the store that they had in downtown Fort Lauderdale closed a very long time ago. Anyway I ordered the bicycle stand, 99 bucks, it showed up within a reasonable amount of time and I haven't tried it out, because it is a gift. It came with a $25 gift card. I saw some other things there that I liked and I ordered three more items. Each item came with the $25 gift card, and each item offered a 20% cashback. So now I have four $25 gift cards, and four cash back awards, totaling over $150. Both today and yesterday I attempted to order a man's wallet only to find out I can only use one of these gift cards or cash back amounts that I received per purchase and the wallet cost $70. I was not very happy about this and asked to be transferred to someone with authority and capable of making a decision in customer service, not some moron reading a script! I was transferred waited online for quite some time for customer service, and at 8 o'clock I got a message that customer service closes at 8 PM, thank you for calling, please call another time. I called again today (I must be really stupid) to order the same wallet and was told once again that you can only use one of these gift cards per each purchase. This is completely unsatisfactory, and I am very close to considering sending all of this $#*! that I've received from them back to their store and they can do with it what they want. Be very careful if ordering from these people, they are dishonest, do not disclose that only one source off credit can be used per purchase until u have already called to order. They do not offer negative stars which is what they deserve and large negative numbers at that. I have read many of the reviews on this site and completely agree. This company is a scam, perhaps they are working with either the Russians and / or the Chinese! Thinking of all this it is easy to see why their retail stores have closed! If you are foolish enough to buy from these people use American Express, the customer is always right, or PayPal. You have been warned!

So very disappointed!

I ordered to products from this company. One was a hair removal system and the other a fat burner. When the products arrived I opened the hair removal system to find that it had horrendous instructions ( no fault of Sharper image) so I went to the products website to contact them directly and discovered that the product was listed cheaper by $60! I contacted Sharper image to find out if they would do a price match. I called the customer service number listed and it would disconnect whenever I pushed the corresponding number for assistance. After several attempts, I found an email address and sent the request that way. Four days later I received a response stating "no". I had never used the system so I decided to return it. After going through the online form for returning the item, it was determined that I would lose approximately $70 (you have to use their delivery option, so they deduct that amount along with other fees). The second item that I mentioned was the fat burner. I used this product as soon as I received it and it worked well the first time. The second time I used it, the timer did not appear to work. It felt like it was over an hour and the auto stop had not initiated, so I stopped the unit (The instructions clearly state do not use over 1 hour). The next day I set an independent timer and started the unit again. It was over and hour and the unit did not cut off, so it was clearly defective. I attempted to return the unit (for refund or replacement) because of the defect and was informed that I could not return an item used for personal use. It wasn't as if I changed my mind or in the case of the price match, the machine is broken!
