I have my own printer at home, but when I need a high quality print with technology out of my reach, I go to Shapeways for their tech portfolio and amazing customer service.
My package arrived and the product was slightly damaged from shipping. Emailed shapway and they immediately helped and sent me a new one.

This review is specifically talking about the level of customer support/experience I received during the planning/order process. While I found the website pretty easy to use and having a pretty good level of documentation, they are not going to be teaching you 3d modeling(understandable). I had not done 3D modeling in the past and I was ordering a single model for myself and classmates as a custom gift from my class for our teacher. William Magley helped me review my model, gave me incredibly helpful design tips throughout the process, and gave me great advice about printing material/color/finish. He was quick in response time and response quality was high. He clearly has a competent knowledge level to help potential customers. I would highly recommend this company to friends/family based on my customer service experience.

I picked-up a used 2-ball putter that needed a face replacement and was referred to Shapeways by the Odyssey folks.
The Shapeways website is easy to use and after verifying the dimensions of the face opening, ordered the gray version.
When it arrived, I test fitted the new face and was happily surprised that it fit like a glove with no sanding required.
I'm very satisfied with my purchase from Shapeways!

When there is any issue with one of my prints Shapeways always gets in touch. A real person emails me to describe the problem and is knowledgable enough to provide useful tips for how to address the issue. And when they don't have an immediate answer they get back to me within a day after talking to other teams. They seem eager to help and always friendly!
Christel is the best customer service that I have encountered at Shapeways. Christel was very thorough when describing the details that will be needed to complete my order. Without Christel's expertise, I would have not been able to proceed. I hope that Christel receives the proper recognition for a job well done.

Asked to cancel order minutes after I placed it.
Customer service rep. Responded by asking if I was sure I wanted to cancel it. After 5 emails back and forth they had waited so long the order went into production then they refused to cancel it

Sold a file of a ship that ended up on Shapeways. I asked to have it removed they refused even when the Mr Garry Stair admitted it was my work. Talking with them just seems like you're nothing they change their policies to whatever they want. So it's all about money to them not honor, respect and doing the right thing. This guy buys a files so called fixes it and steals it. So if you give a file to Shapeways don't be surprised if they steal it. Everyone we contacted Steve below I'll post his response - no surprise! Please stay away from Shapeways they will steal your work, files and not do the right things to fix problems. Originally I asked them to remove the files and they made me run through hoops so I did. Sat there and laughed at me the whole time - I'm posting those emails as well. Who this hurts? My family in this desperate time this project was for them, to feed them and now stolen by Shapeways.

After having assembled the parts of my H39 tank engine (ETS, scale 1/35) I got the idea of doing the same job again with the engine in scale 1/16, which was produced on special demand. Shipping was extremely fast although I hadn't chosen priority shipping. This time I preferred smoothest fine detail plastic and a version with internal parts as crankshaft, camshaft, pistons, connecting rods. I had to be very careful with these components, but the result is outstanding! It was a pleasure to work with this high quality material. I would like to stress that I am really happy with my choice!

I absolutely recommend this service for the most professional level of printed products anywhere. Quick story: I had trouble with some designs that I picked up from Thingyverse because I had them resized to a smaller scale. They did in fact point out that a number of areas would be extremely thin to print and gave me a choice to print it anyways OR to resend it in after editing the models myself. Problem is that I don't work with 3D modeling and it would take me forever to figure out how to fix it all. I emailed their customer service about it and the kind folk at Shapeways made an exception for me and fixed up all the designs for me. Such great people. Emails were all sent back and forth within a day; very satisfied with their support team. Thank you again!
