I signed up for the free set up of a roommate profile and to view listings. The next day I received an email stating I had "mail" from a prospect in my Roomster.com mailbox. BUT, I had to pay for a subscription before viewing my mail. I did pay only to find it was a fake/false mail... from a supposed person who has 5 different properties in TEXAS, I live and am looking for a roommate in Palm Springs, CA! Upon contacting Roomster... they would not answer my questions, wouldn't check into the situation and would not refund my money... the answer I got was "Cancel your account to avoid any further billing!" Roomster sends fake emails getting people to pay for fake potential roommates.
So So. Not enough useful information in rental ads. Users should not have to pay for messaging, this should be funded by the entity listing the ad. More search criteria should be added. Rental amenities should be required in ads ie: parking, bathroom (private vs. shared), laundry, etc.,
My girlfriend got into a huge argument with my roommate about keeping the bathroom hygienic and clean and he freaked out and moved out of the apartment. We went on Roomster to find a new roommate and the process was so easy. Quick setup and after a few days of searching we found a great roommate.
I bought the 3 days, and they auto renewed my subscription to a full month. No notification, no nothing. Thankfully I noticed the 1st month thanks to Paypal (that called me).
The site after the subscription was pretty much useles. The number of contacts dropped, from being free user to be paid user, what (in my opinion) indicates that most of the contacts as free user are just fake bait.
Yesterday i required a room immediately so my friend told to search in Roomster.com. Very soon I found a Room only for $450.00/month and rented this room easily. T's really a beautiful room as I want. So I think in USA Roomster.com in the best rental website. Roomster was great.
I have used other sites to rent out my apartment but I found I got much less replies then on RMSTR. It seems to be a go to website for people looking for or looking to rent a room. Whether its to share or just for yourself, people are genuine on here and you will find someone. I have been lucky to be able to choose the right tenant for my apartment who fits well in.
App is misleading. It tries to get me to subscribe for more expensive plan. Also it keeps displaying the prompt to update the app when I don't update right away. My phone is set to update automatically over night so it's a bit annoying to get that prompt every time I try to open.
I have had MANY great experiences using this website! Great idea and I highly recommend using! My cousin told me about this website then I went to Roomster and found a roommate(Marie). She is very nice & responsible. I am staying with her still now. All of this credit goes to Roomster.com. Thank you very mych roomster.com.
Roomster has to check better all the profiles. My last roommate was very different from what he advertised and even told me that he was arrested in NY when he was living with me. Very difficult to live.
I am a club promoter and work very late nights during the week usually until about 5am. My previous roommate who I had met through my old college roommate was constantly complaining about the hour at which I would get home to which I would respond “If you want to pay my bills then by all means go ahead and I wont have to come home at 5am”. Needless to say that didn’t go over so well. One time it got so bad we got into a huge argument that almost got physical and finally I decided I couldn’t deal with it anymore so I knew I needed an alternative. My colleague told me about Roomster, apparently he knows someone who works for them, and suggested I try it to find a new place. I created a profile and was surprised by the number of rooms they have listed. I ended up finding a great deal on a room to rent and because I was able to include some details about myself on my profile detailing my nightly work hours I found a perfect match with someone who also worked nights.
Very pleased with my experience on Roomster. I made a listing that I was searching for a room that was pet friendly and after a few days of exchanging messages with some people I found the perfect match.
Using a lot of different housing apps; it's kinda weird that you can't type in age of roommates manually? Like, I want to be able to click on the numbers next to "preferred age"/"rent filter"/etc and type in numbers, rather than finagle with a slider. I do like the photo display though.
It wasnt long ago when I was the one looking at all these websites, looking for that one apartment that will knock off everything off my (detailed) check list. I was in heaven when I reached Roomster, and looking back at it all, I wish I would have wasted less time on all the other sites I was on. I found a lovely apartment in Murray Hill, with two sweet roommates, and a friendly cat. It had everything I looked for, and so much more, and I can genuinely say that the search and move in took less than a week. Everything fell into place so eloquently, I couldnt have asked for anything more!:-)
You services suck because most of these people are frauds you want money just to check messages for potentially fraud fake individuals that claim they have a space which I been on here no places yet because I asked and pleaded with people to show me these places no response they want money but won't show you the places your company wants money but fail to check out if these listings are true and real you want us to pay for messages and the service to look for apartments or rooms when it should be free to look for a place check all y'all facts and guidelines for these people putting rooms for rent and charging for a service for fake landlords
I received a message in my inbox. I found out you had to pay in order to view your messages. I had already sent inquiries to people so i thought it was a response from someone. Come to find out, i just paid to view a message from their support team... what kind of scam is that?
In the last week I posted an ad in Roomster.com for renting my room. In yesterday someone rented this room. Rooster’s service & quality is awesome. What a fantastic website this is! So i think Roomster.com is best. Its customer service was great. Thanks roomster.com
My boyfriend and I just moved into the city and were looking for a place for just the two of us since we have a baby on the way. We were living with 2 other people for the past year but after I got pregnant that wasn’t really working out so we needed to move on and get a place of our own before the baby comes. We found this great 1 bedroom in Williamsburg through Roomster for an affordable price and are so happy! It’s exactly what we were looking for and the neighborhood is great! Would recommend this site to anyone looking to move!
In addition to auto-renewing your subscription, ONE IRRELEVANT LEAD always comes in when you're not subscribed (and you don't know it then because you can't read it before subscribing) - and ZERO after you subscribe.
Despite the site seemingly containing pages of rooms/candidates, none of my messages were replied - ZERO!
In the same time I registered for 3 days on roommates.com, and have gotten 5+ real leads within 2 days, already visited them all and am ready to move in! (Be sure to also read the 1-2 star reviews for roommates.com, I feel perhaps I'm just awfully lucky after visiting that section.)
I guess the biggest complaint I have is that neither site allowed unpaid members to read any messages - even ones sent by paid members. This could be the reason why there are pages of people and yet none seem to bother responding.
I want to spend my vacation with my family so i required a 3 bedroom apartment for 1 month in Texas. I found some apartments but those costs are very high. So i search Roomster.com for a nice apartment and found a big apartment with cheap rate. What a site it is! I found the site to be easy to use and straight forward. I think it is the best site in USA for rental. Thanks ROOMSTER
This is the worst service I have ever gotten from a renting service. As soon as I post what I want, I get bombarded with scammers. Just ridiculous and none of them were legitimate. I posted my phone number so that renters or leasers may contact me and it was my biggest mistake ever. Now they not only want to scam me but they want to know if they can be my friends. Like wtf!

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
