I wouldn't even give them one star if I didn't have to! What a scam and rip off! I probably received the same scammy email that everyone receives from some chic... and then the account is deleted. Creeps. They need to be taken out of business.
The site user experience needs to be improved on the overall site. It's just not a smooth process. It seems like the developers have never used the site themselves to rent a room. The questions that get asked when filling out a profile don't make sense. And just every step of the process is clunky and not the best user experience.
After perusing the site I decided to get a 15-day subscription to see if I could find a nice clean room to rent for a decent rate. Ended up finding something nicer than what I expected for a cheaper price than I was willing to shell out, very happy.
Auto billed me for a month subscription without me knowing after I tried a 15 day subscription. Didn't even find a decent room. Just creeps and fake profiles on here. Just use http://www.padmapper.com/
I started studying for the MCAT’s a few months ago and I need a peaceful environment to study in. I had these Roommates who were big party animals and they were constantly getting home very late in the morning often drunk and waking me up. After a month of this I knew I had to find a solution. I searched for a new place to live online and found Roomster. After some research I decided to try it out and I was very pleased with my experience on the site. It’s real easy to set up an account and I found it to be a hugely helpful resource. Ended up renting a nice quiet bedroom in a lovely two-bedroom downtown. Would definitely recommend to anyone I know looking for a place.
I am an orthopedic surgeon and I just opened up a new office for my practice. Initially I was going to commute back and forth from the two locations but they were pretty far from each other so I decided it made more sense to get a place I could rent for low cost near the new office. I found a great little place to rent online through Roomster after a friend of mine recommended it to me. He used it after he had a roommate dispute to find a new place. Really happy he told me about the site it made it super convenient to have a place to crash so close to the new practice!
They let you sign up without paying but then if you get messages you have to pay for the subscription. The messages I got just said "hello" and no one that I wrote to responded. I'm not sure if I just had bad luck or if the site is not legit.
I am a young business professional that travels allot for extended periods of time for work, I use Roomster to find rooms instead of using hotels and I find it extremely convenient and affordable. Highly recommend
You are deceiving telling people they can find a roommate, then you hit us with "oh you actually have to pay to get your inbox messages. " its not honest, if you made this clear upfront it wouldn't be as frustrating and I wouldn't feel like i was jived
A little bit disappointed that i had to pay for full service, although i suppose that is fair and i was not forced to pay. As a new user, not sure if this is TOO soon to be rating... i wonder if i will have the option to rate later after further use?
It's a great time for me cause, I just found a Room. I spent only $400.00 per month. I am happy at all for this. Hurry up! If you need Rooms you can go without any hesitation. I recommend this all time. Thanks Roomster.com.
This is the third time trying Roomster. I'm hoping you don't continue to charge my account after the 5day trial as you have in the past. I went to an appt of one of your renters & they were very experienced scammers! They'd even been verified by your site. This is a serious problem. I almost lost $650 for a vacant illegal home!
Does any one have a no-pay? 1 of the 4 choices should. It appears as if i had the 1st couple of days I did; cause i replied for 2 or 3 days & now i have to pay. If tenant. Roommate, house, or room was not in the mix none of thiscould work. Each needs the other to function
Your website is very frustrating. I need to update my profile and that of the room I'm renting but there are no icons to click on. I have no idea how to get there. Your webiste needs to be a lot more user friendly!
SCAM. Fake profiles. They will trick you into signing up by saying you have a bunch of emails (must pay to read them). Cancelling is a nightmare and you will most likely end up being charged for an extra month. John S. Shriber and Roman Zaks are losers.
I once lived in a house with about 15 other people (started off with four, but random people kept showing up and not leaving), and this one girl would constantly steal from me. It started off with her stealing food and escalated to her stealing stuff like jewelry from my room, then WEARING IT IN FRONT OF ME and insisting it was hers. One day I went through the house and took all the toilet paper, Kleenex, towels, etc., I could find and hid them. Then I laced a hot dog with Ex-Lax and left it on the counter. Took her about five minutes to steal and eat the hot dog. Thirty minutes later I saw her emerge from the bathroom (which had no shower, just a toilet and sink) looking like she was on the brink of death. She never mentioned the mysterious lack of toilet paper, and my stuff was never stolen again. I ended up moving out the next month and I found a sweet deal on Roomster for a room to rent. Best part was it was a much better price than what I was paying previously.
Came across an ad on craigslist for a room to rent but when I contacted the person who made the ad they were extremely sketchy, wouldn’t answer any of my questions fully. After a few emails back and forth they told me that to sign the lease and get the room, which at that point I still hadn’t even seen in person, I had to send a money order/cashiers check for the first and last months rent. I asked to arrange a viewing of the apartment and was given the run around. Needless to say I did not go through with that rental. After that I found Roomster online and decided to give it a shot after reading some positive reviews. I cant say the site is perfect but I found it to be much more resourceful than anything I’ve come across online. Tons of rooms at various budgets and they have a pretty good user interface that’s easy to use and has a nice design.
A bit ridiculous that you have to pay a subscription fee to be able to view any messages from potential roommates. It's basically blocking any coherent communication behind a paywall. Everything else has been fine so far.
My college is a pretty crazy party school. My house is split with four other people and I probably party the least out of all of them. One night I get home and I find my roommates in the living room with a live goat having some sort of WWE smackdown with his animal in our home. Forget how appalled I was to find them abusing this animal like that but I knew I could not live with these people anymore. One of my professors is always telling students about Roomster so I wanted to check it out and it was actually really great. Being a student I don’t have a huge budget but I was able to find a nice place to rent within my means and best of all I was able to find people who didn’t feel the need to enhance their weekend festivities with farm animal wrestling matches (where they got the goat from ill never know).
Im bothered that you can't look for a roommate without looking for a place or having a place. I also wish you could see your messages and only have to pay to respond to them so you know if it's worthwhile

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
