Do not ever use this site. Was charged 29.95 after only trying a pay $5 for a three day subscription. Everytime I tried to find to try to get my money back the site says '4040 error site is down" dont ever use this site
Had to find a new place to live after my landlord stopped allowing pets in my building. I found a really great room to rent for a very affordable rate on Roomster and because they allow you to sort the listings for ones that allow pets I easily found a suitable match.
I had a roommate who sold my dog. I came home one night, and my dog was gone! She didn’t tell me where he went. Apparently she told my mom he bit her and my mom came over to get the dog. My roommate listed the dog on Craigslist and told the buyer to go to my mom’s house to pick it up… We ended up getting the dog back after a long and confusing discussion with the lady who bought my dog. After this crazy ordeal I moved out of that apartment and found a great room to rent on Roomster. They had tons of listings. Found a really affordable rate for a room in a nice building. Lets hope my roommate doesn’t turn out to be crazy! I met up with them a few times and they seem normal enough so fingers crossed!
The Roomster website works well, but the app is a disaster. So many bugs - can't edit date, can't delete pictures without the app freezing, pics get cropped for some reason. I understand why you have a pay wall, but I'd rather not pay for the app. Not worth the money. This is my second time paying for this app, but I'm only doing out of necessity of finding a roommate as soon as possible.
Frustration. After joining system wouldn't accept my phone number despite like 10 attempts. Cancelled my account for this reason. Wasn't until I reached out to customer service they overrode this necessity. But most of the people in finding have a budget way lower than what it I need to charge.
This scam website posts phony Craigslist ads from nonexistent "landlords" who ask you to register for "security reasons." Of course there's no house, apartment or landlord, just these POS con-artists scamming you out of $14.95 to "verify" the driver's license they suckered you into providing, hoping you'll purchase one of their fraudulent, bot-ridden monthly memberships. Avoid like the coronavirus!
Almost all of your listings look to be some kind of modeled home that is really just a fancy SRO. Few real humans use the site and you have an army of scammers one Craigslist that are all the same "I am the landlord and for security reasons please fill out this application form for more information". After turning on incognito mode and a VPN (obviously) one discovers that the link is just to a Roomster search. So, what's your deal as a company anyways?
Oh, and your filter is, I'm sorry, a joke. Range, age, gender... zodiac sign? That's it? Whatever executive thought that would be useful, funny, or express a "chill vibe to our site" should be disciplined and made to live for a month in the first listing I find offered on Roomster. Lmao
Well, I wish I've done my research before starting 3-day trial... basically,. Just like other reviewers I thought 3-day $5.95 trial is just it, but NO, like any other deceptive sites they put tiny print somewhere in the end of long agreement text that this isn't "IT", and they'll charge you automatically $29.95 and will keep on month after month! What a bull cr@p! Looks like they getting away with this "auto billing", you better head to Rommates.com where 3-day is just IT - no re-billing and much better leads, so be warned about roomster.com as$*0les!
My son booked a room through Roomster in Fresno, California. He is in the Navy and was restationed from Virginia Beach. Upon arriving to Fresno and the house location, after driving across country, he found an abandoned house and could not contact the people who had took his money ($800). There was no key, nobody to contact. He is contacting the police. Beware
I had a housemate who wore long Victorian nightgowns and spent every night playing her keyboard on the harpsichord setting. At first I found this amusing but eventually it became very distracting and then it became annoying. I asked her repeatedly to either use headphones while she jammed or to at least do it during the day when I wasn’t home. She wasn’t having any of it so I started looking into moving out and finding a new roommate. I saw Roomster on a Google ad and for some reason clocked through to it. I don’t normally do stuff like this but I was kind of desperate and the site seemed legit. I actually ended up finding an amazing deal on a room with a super cool roommate. They are more of a literary nerd so all thy do is read books which is perfect for me! Would definitely recommend Roomster to people.
I would give them a zero if I could.
I paid thinking it would be a great way to find a roommate. What it turned out to be was a way for every scammer in the world to contact me so their"agents" could send me a check.
I am busy and don't have time to deal with this, and want to warn everyone out there- use a reputable company! NOT them-they have no screening process.
I was contacted by this one member and we were texting back and forth. She wanted money right away without meeting the person and without seeing the place. I was a bit suspicious that she kept asking for money. Another thing that made me suspicious was when i asked where it was and she gave me the city but later in the conversation she gave me another location for the same place which seemed funny. I suspect it might be a scam. I haven't heard from this person since. This needs to be looked into.
One of the steps for setting up you account is a credit check with an affiliated website that Roomster partners with. I figured 'why not? They're partnered with a major website, they can't be TOO skeevy'. Yeah no, despite this being a 'free' credit check they require you put in your credit card information, as in they were going to pull some 'free after shipping and handling' baloney.
At that point I exited the 'free' credit check without finishing it, I wasn't interested. I immediately got a phone call from a credit agency and over a hundred spam emails from creepy loan websites and credit agencies, all in a 24 hr period.
If Roomster really pushes you to use their credit score system. Don't do it! Ever!
Free credit score is an advertiser on Roomster and it is not mandatory in any way to use the Roomster site. Sorry, you had a bad experience with the credit check people. Was the negative review of Roomster necessary?
I had moved out of my parents’ house a few months ago and started looking for places of my own to live in when I came across Roomster. I was initially very impressed with the design and layout of the site, it was seamless and easy to navigate. After buying a subscription it was easy to find a room that fit my budget and what I was looking for. I have since recommended the site to many close friends who are looking to secure places of their own.
It's the best time for me; I got a Room here in NY yesterday. All of its credit goes to ROOMSTER.COM. My room is very nice & comfortable. All of its facility I enjoying only for $480.00/month. Thank you very much www.roomster.com
I was very surprised to not be able to access the message without purchase of your program.
Being forth right is what I expect from my tenants and would from you as well. You should have required an up front cost and not at the back end. Being unable to access messages was pretty trickie to me.
Your Roomster Corp. Terms of Use is very detailed and up front. That tells me you understand how you tricked me... stop already!
I proceeded to go through the BBB to resolve this which it's still ongoing. Sucks because they scammed me out of money, removed my account where I am no longer able to even sign in and I really was searching for a room and thought this site seemed good. I didn't have an opportunity to even engage with anyone who contacted me which is why I signed up for the paid thinking that would help. Scam company, poor customer service and treatment to their account holders.
This does not make sense, please email us at reviews@roomster.com and let's get to the bottom of this. We are not a scam. Sometimes mistakes happen. Please give us a chance to make things right.
Due to a lack of screening- I received numerous offers to rent a room for less than the dollar amount/asking rate. People are very important to me. However, I don't want to waste my time shucking for clams and then guessing about a lot of people's personalities simply to rent a room. A few years ago- I attempted to use this service. I dismissed it as a rabbit hole. I got myself into difficulty again, assuming that a second chance and the passage of time would help. In the aftermath- Every day, I get emails telling me that we miss you and that I should come back and list with us. Furthermore, how is it possible that so-and-so sent you a message after I removed the listing (mucho bomb emails)? Something doesn't feel quite right to me—or maybe I just prefer the feeling of obtaining a good deal. I observed that the cost of using the service had increased by 20%. Follow your instincts; if something feels unfair, it most likely isn't bad indigestion.
It's so confusing. It asked me what i was looking for. I clicked a roommate. It doesn't tell me how to list my place to show my so others want to move in and be my roommate. I'd like to show photos and tell them about the rest of us that currently live here to try and find a match
If you charge money for using your services, you shoud make sure you offer a decent product. In two weeks on the website I was getting only spam and generic messages, because nobody wants to pay for using it. My email is bombarded with these fake notifications that someone sent me a message, and I wasn't able to reach anybody so far. I got no value for money I paid twice.

Answer: These are untrue statements. We have asked our many satisfied customers to post their positive experiences about Roomster to counteract the negative, and mostly untrue statements posted about us. If you notice that Sitejabber has negative reviews of almost every company doing business in the united states. If it was all true, there would be no business left and everyone would be out of work. People never write good reviews, people love to be negative. Its sad.
Answer: Hi Aminah, Roomster did not post that ad on Craigslist, we did not create that link and there fore we can not offer support for it. This looks to be one of our affiliates, who should not be doing this. We will be removing this person from our affiliate program. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Answer: That makes little to no sense. Undeleted? What does that even mean? N you want to create an account after you deleted it? Go ahead.
