I searched for Super 8 Motel, Kenora, Ontario, Canada & was taken to what was shown as Super 8 Motel website. I searched for a room, found one suitable and completed a booking. The rate did not show as US funds which is totally deceptive and Although it showed fully refundable if cancelled prior to a specified future date without penalty or a fee, a link popped up after showing in very tiny print *usd. I was not shown a disclaimer or allowed to review transaction or even print a copy of the transaction so I immediately called to cancel. I was told no problem, cancellation without charge and given a confirmation number and received an email with same info.
However, these scumbags charged my credit card a fee of $14.95 in US Currency which amounted to over $20.00 Canadian.
I have initiated a dispute through my CC carrier.
Be very careful who you book through. I called the motel direct and will do so in future.
Made a reservation weeks in advanced and was charged full price ($291.19 including taxes and fees). Got to the hotel and my reservation was no where to be found. Reservations.com confirmed that there was a booking error after many calls between the hotel and customer service. Then a few days after got an email from reservations.com stating:
"We value & recognize your circumstances, and are pleased to inform you that we are able to give you a partial refund regarding the itinerary of #xxxxxxxxxxxxx. The amount billed by our affiliate partner will be refunded via check to the address provided by you."
I'm not sure why a partial refund when the booking error had NOTHING to do with me. Regardless, to this day I have not seen anything in the mail and not sure why they can't refund back to my credit card. Still making calls to get my full refund back.
DO NOT use reservations.com. Total waist of time. They do not have a good process for anything.
All was amazing and the staff was also very nice! My stay was extraordinary from the moment I arrived here and until I left. It was ten days of the most remarkable and great service I have ever encountered. The girls in the office helped organize everything we wished to do.
Keep up the wonderful service!
Excellent!
After a bad experience with Reservations.com, them double charging me and refusing a refund- I posted negatively about them here. I was contacted privately and offered a refund. Their service department is not nice to work with but they did Indeed, after much back and forth, fully refund my money.
Absolutely brutal customer service. Avoid this booking service. They have their phone number attached to hotel websites so you think you're calling the hotel, then they push you in to a booking while explaining 100% refundable, but they will keep your $15 booking fee even thought they don't explain this on the booking call. Afterwards they'll say it was all on your email confirming the booking - so they inform you AFTER they charge you and will not return the fee no matter who you talk to...
For info, for anyone caught the same way, one quick call to your credit card bank and they should block/refund the charge, worked for me.
Accidently booked through reservations.com, what a mistake that was. I tried to cancel my reservation and get a refund, as they had already charged my credit card and they would not refund my money and also charged me an additional $41 for making the reservation. This is a scam site and if I were you I would not book with them.
I thought I was calling Best Western but somehow got this company without knowing it wasn't Best Western themselves. I was over charged for the room and I checked out early and now I have to wait til "someone" can approve my early checkout? Then I was charged some fee of $14.99 for what? I have no idea. My hotel I stayed in has a max rate of $85/ night and Reservations.com customer service told me they have the lowest discounted rates but charged me $105/night. It's a shame!
I thought I was on the hotel's website but discovered it was reservations.com when they charged me a total of $145 after charging $98.99 for the room plus taxes and fees and their $14.99 service fee. They said I should have looked at the charges before confirming but that definitely wasn't very clear because I don't think I ever saw the listing of all the charges. They are scammers!
Made two reservations which I thought were directly with the hotel I wanted. Turns out it was through reservations.com. Cancelled the reservations immediately and their confirmation email for the cancellations stated there were to be no cancellation fees. Two charges of $21.77 showed up on my credit card statement! They are not responding to my emails. Bunch of cybercrooks in my opinion. Don't know what to do next to get my money back. Anyone with any suggestions on how to get reimbursed? Have since contacted my credit card company and they reversed these fraudulent charges. Unfortunately I had to destroy my existing card and was issued a new one. This was to ensure that this company didn't try to charge anything else to my old number.
Charged me 40$ extra. I kept asking where they the hotel site cause I didn't want to deal with 3rd party mess. Instead I was given the run around leading me to believe they were with Fairfield Inn. My bill went from $134 to 154 then a extra charge of 17.99. Grand total of $173... They jack into the system so you think you're on the hotel site. THIEVES
Made a reservation for tonight and between hitting submit and getting the confirmation the price jumped 60 bucks. Called within 5 mins and they refused to cancel. They told us it had to have been canceled 2 days ago for refund. Reminder We JUST made the reservation 5 Mins ago. Hotel chains should be ashamed to use this service! Run away from this place as fast as you can!
I needed to move a reservation and after sitting on-hold for a while worked with their customer support to do this. Was informed my hotel reservation was cancel and I would see a refund, except for my reservation fee (Note: this required getting hotel management involved). When I did not receive my refund, called back and reservations.com indicated they had no record of my call and would not remove the charge (said they needed proof). Contacted hotel (who was involved in cancellation discussion (and they had a record of the call), but they refused to refund. Followed up again (as charging full rate on cancellation in Canada is not allowed) and was promised a refund. After multiple calls back, still no refund. Would never use them again (Note: a direct call to the hotel will typically get you as good of a rate, especially in canada).
I made the mistake of just using Google to search for a hotel availability. This site was at the top of the list and looked professional so I booked my hotel before realizing how much of a scam this was.
I needed the room and didn't want to fight for a refund, so I just kept the reservation. When I got my receipt from the hotel, it was 100$ less that what I paid, and said it was booked through Expedia. So I'm pretty sure the service fee you are paying for is just them taking your money and rebooking it through Expedia for cheaper.
Total rip off. Lesson learned
I make a reservation for two nights but for a emergency reasons have to leave the Hotel next day I talked to the Hotel manager to cancel one night and he agreed but when I called the reservations.com they put up many barriers to void refund the money, I'm continue to find the way to get my refund. Be careful with this reservations website they have a lot complains.
Three days before check in and called to change my reservation, coming in a day later. Because the hotel was booked, they said they would need to cancel my reservation entirely with the possibility of losing my other night. Clearly they could have called and worked with the hotel and nothing. Customer service sucks. Will never ever use again.
DONT DO IT! This is nothing but a scam! They over charge the actual hotel rate! When trying to work any issue out they hang up up on you! Tell you one thing and show another! Lie about putting you on hold. Lie about sending you to a manager! VERY disrespectful and very unprofessional! Call main hotel, they never heard of them. DONT DO IT!
I made a reservation several weeks ago for one night. I did understand that if I cancelled it was non refundable. With only one week before the reservation something unexpected came up and I needed to change the reservation day to one day sooner: I was not cancelling or asking for a refund. Being that it was only one night it shouldn't have been a problem, but was I wrong! The person told me that It was also non-modifiable which she said was listed somewhere else on a link or something. I never saw that. The real slap in the face was that my husband just called the hotel and got the same room for the date we needed at the same cost less the fee they charge! These people are terrible and everyone needs to stay away from these scammers. I have used Booking.com before and never had any issues like this.
I wish I could give them zero stars. They booked us for the wrong hotel and wouldn't even give us a refund. I spoke to two different "customer service" agents and got the run around from both. One said I needed to email the hotel and when I asked for the email address, they didn't provide it. I called the hotel and they said that it had to come from them. It doesn't help that they barely speak good English, so it's hard to understand them. They get upset when you ask them to repeat a question. Awful experience and I will never book through them again. I wish I had found this site before I booked through them. You've been warned, DO NOT use this company. They're liars and will steal your money.
I would suggest not using this site when booking hotels. There policy states no refunds on hotel stays. We recently booked a hotel room through this site and had to cut our stay short Based on circumstances so we canceled our last night with the hotel. We are now out over $100 dollars because reservations.com will not refund the money for the one night since they take the money up front. I would rather deal with the hotels directly because they will honor refunds in this situation
The details are not prominent and while it says it can be cancelled. Then the small print says there's a booking fee of $15.00 as well the difference in the exchange rate in the amount charged and what they refund is excessive. A modest difference is acceptable but there's is a money grab. And this was all done within 24 hours.
Answer: Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. You may have to cancel your card and get a new card and card number, but it's worth it.
Answer: Impossible to get money back. They're just scumbags!
Answer: Yes, this company charges a fee, which it will not refund even if you cancel your reservation within minutes!

Answer: It can be, if its refundable reservation. Every reservations has a different cancelation policy. Mostly last minute reservations are not cancelable.
Answer: My experience is the same. reservations.com obviously nails a lot of unsuspecting Canadians this way. They don't make any attempt to help you out when they are confronted by this way of hosing us. Its a sleazy organization.

Answer: Yes, you were billed. Call your credit card company and report it as an unauthorized charge. Your company should remove it, send you a new card and assign you a new card number.
