So glad I found these guys, I am in my senior year's and my front garden needed sorting out. They power washed the drive and laid new gravel where the mess was. Cannot recommend them enough. There prices are so reasonable, so polite and everything was left really clean after they have finished. Very happy bunny.
I phoned them 2 weeks in advance to ask for my contract not to be renewed at the end of the first quarter, and they de-activated my account strait away. Sad that the contract cannot be terminated by the user without having to telephone them. The site is a clever concept, but too expensive to use for finding work.
From I contacted your site. Originally on a general interest. The follow up to my interest has been fantastic. Was only looking for a door fitted. ( old PVC back door to shed.) contacted very quickly by Madden Contracts Ltd. Costed and auctioned within days. Very competitive price. End result better that expected. With good advice thrown in. Thx Niall & Dad
Martin Neary, electrician was the only one of three quotes promised by rated people who actually got in touch. The price quoted for the very small job, fitting a three pin socket, was very reasonable. He advised that he was working in the area and would call in the following evening when he'd finished the job.
Unfortunately, he encountered a problem and phoned to say he was unable to attend and would call in the next evening. I really appreciated his phoning.
The job was done the next evening to my satisfaction and more importantly from my point of view he treated my home with respect.
Rated People do not sufficiently vet the tradespeople they advertise on their platform, they only check the current credit score of anyone applying to them. This means that an individual can open up a LTD company and apply with a clean record even if they have a dubious history and scores of scam companies behind them. They only trades they check for are plumbers on the Gas Safe register. No other competency checks are performed for other trades. It means that anyone with a screwdriver can pretend to be an electrician. The reviews on the platform can be easily faked and are not a true indication of competency. A rogue tradesperson can have people they know advertise fake jobs, then they pay for the lead, both pretend it's been done and submit a 5 star review. I am sure that the platform has a majority of reputable trades on there but if anything goes wrong, you are on your own. In this current day and age, people are crying out for quality trades, most of whom seldom need to advertise. So who are the people on here? We are currently taking a conman to court over electrical work, sourced via Rated People. He has falsely advertised NICEIC membership, he has owned, operated and closed 12 LTD companies in 7 years and this is "Vetting" for you. Beware. 2 Stars is for the fact that they removed this scum from their platform, he should never have been on there in the first place.
A few weeks ago joined the rated people website as a trader. Paying for annual membership, and yet you have to pay to apply for every single job you want to have, whether the client take you or not. They certainly are doing a lot of money. Few times was the first one to buy the lead, in other words to apply for the job and when i called the customers said they didn't need it anymore. Fake leads!? Would not recommend. Apart from that, the work ends up being underpriced as other people suggest on the reviews, seems like customers are not aware of the real prices, so you end up working for much less than should be, if you were to win.
However the more a customer is willing to offer for the job done, the more us workers have to pay to have the contract details and give a quotation. If the job just takes few hours and you are offered £40 then you end up having just about £30 by discounting how much you pay to get their money details which can be even £10, minus petrol if you're driving. So at the end you earn just a few quids
Would use again if I had to but so many options offering the same thing. Checkatrade, Yell, Hibu and other directories.
Had my gutters replaced by someone from this site. Gutters leaking and falling down. No reply from tradesman so contacted Rated People. Found out that this tradesman had stolen a dairy farmer's identity. Customer Service unhelpful, won't give their name, and have now told me the matter is closed. I'm an now struggling to escalate my complaint. Be very careful when you use Rated People because but any thing goes wrong they are totally unwilling to help.
What a scam this is! Only joined 1 week ago, £70 out of pocket and 5 leads later not one person answered the phone or returned an email. In fact 2 of the numbers were invalid and didn't even ring, just got number not in use message!. Called customer services, they tried the numbers their end and guess what they said? The numbers were ringing their end! Full of s**t!. When I found out that the "customers" can place an advert for free I knew I made a mistake by joining rated people. I bet most of the adverts are fake, to get us traders to buy dead leads. I cannot believe that this company are allowed to do what they do! They are con artists. I have managed to get my account closed within the 14 days cooling off period thank God!
We have had more than 3 tradesmen con us shoddy work or taking our money and running off without doing the work or left job half finished. I have had enough of rated people, you're just as likely to find rogue traders with them as going it alone. The complaints procedure is difficult and takes ages. The last so called tradesman took £980 upfront and did a runner. Do not trust rated people their checks do not mean anything and there is no comeback. Beware!
Had some roofing work done which i was not satisfied with. Had to pay some else to correct as could not get hold of original contractor for months. Appropriate review disappeared meaning shoddy worker still has his 5 star rating. Ridiculous. Avoid.
Apply for quite a few gas jobs to see if the app works
Most jobs has been completed when you apply or no answer. 1:10 ratio. Some jobs up to 40£ to pay and then when speaking to customer been completed week ago.
O but don't worry rated people allows you to spend hour on the phone to dispute a job to get money back.
12 month contract for 42£ per month can't cancel contract was asked to pay 350£ cancel fee
They so use to doing it they even record your conversation.
No contact to company other that email
Can't wait to leave contract
Stay away
I joined for 3-4 weeks had lots of leeds great but they all cost quite a lot and I won 0 jobs. I've worked as a builder for over 20 years and just wanted to select work near me. I responded very quickly and actually priced work Very competitively!
Yet no jobs won. I think the customers are only interested in the lowest quote.
I see a lot of complaints about poor workmanship! Well cheapest is not always the best customers! I'm glad the guys who undercut me have supplied a rubbish job.
I hired a kitchen installation guy who didn't finish the work, left the kitchen oven unsafe, broke my wine kitchen fittings, patchy work all over. Moreover he won't answer my calls, emails, text messages, absolutely no contact. But ratedpeople won't allow me to write a review for the job. My review is being removed again and again without any intimation. I have never experienced a rougue site like this. Avoid like plague.
Say well away from rated rip off, experience your best keep well clear from, other wise they will rob you of your money. This company need to be stopped and reported to trading standards. Dave pro tec roofing
DO NOT USE. Have been waiting since March for debris and ladders to be removed from my property. Does not respond. Totally unprofessional and unreliable. Wanted money up front. Also still awaiting receipt and guarantee.
Would give minus star as does NOT warrant one star.
Had Luke Jackson of eagle building specialist fit me a new oak and glass balustrade the fitting was shocking poor workmanship Jackson would not take my calls and did not even come round to put the mess right very poor customer service from eagle building specialist. The job is having to be all redone avoid eagle building specialist
As a builder I can say that buying rated people job leads is not a good investment.
65% of purchased job leads I could not contact (wrong phone, no one would pick up phone for weeks, false email and etc), jobs are gone on the first contact without even getting a chance to quote and etc.
Worst part is that rated people won't refund you for most fake leads due to their refund credit limits, policies and etc.
Sometimes you end up spending £100 and not getting any work.
I signed up to rated people as I had a slow week. In a month I bought 3 leads, I won 1 to the value of around a few hundred, 1 was not as advertised and another was quoted and didn't hear anything back. Anything else for that month was either out of town or not the kind of work my business carries out. Those 3 leads cost me £72! The service is a joke and when you try to cancel you have a 6 hour window in which to call them in plus any unused 'credit' disappears at the start of the next month. Scammers. As a homeowner looking for a decorator I posted on rated people, I had 1 man come round quoting £250 per day for 1 decorator! Given the costs I now see why. Awful company all round it seems.
Let's put it simple; Rated people always always somehow finds a new way to rip off poor tradesmen, Also they really hate in replying to tradesmen especially when it comes to dealing with bogus leads etc. So rated people needs to work on those issues for the genuine traders. Thats the only reason tradesmen have lost their interest in it..
Answer: I know this doesnt answer your question but the very same thing happened to me on Friday 11. 09. 15. Same thing, I had been a member for almost two years and had nothing but almost 200 positive reviews. I think have spent just over £3000 to date. They dont give you a reason and when you call them they have the information but just wont give you anything. I cant imagine what I could have possibly done to have my account access revoked like this. It makes me feel like a criminal, but the most annoying thing is that they just wont tell me why. I have emailed them this morning but Im not expecting a reply. I too am going to do a SAR which will cost up to £10. It would be interesting to know who else this has happened to and what trade they belong to. I am a Heating Engineer. Ive been led to beleive that Rated People have done this to certain trades(plumbers I think) before when they have awarded a contract to a big company who then takes all that work. If this has happened to you as well then please leave your details and what trade you belong to. This just doesnt make any sense it bizarre.
Answer: I know right!
Answer: Rated people are in business with Experian and Experian are passing peoples credit reports on to rated people, and if your credit history isn't very good then rated people kick you off their site, illegal if you ask me, they need investigating and prosecuting
Answer: I have replied to jobs and they have never rang me back some of them false phone numbers some of them cost me £25
