Priceline Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company reveals significant dissatisfaction among customers, primarily due to issues with booking accuracy, hidden fees, and inadequate customer service. Many reviews highlight frustrations with non-refundable reservations and uncommunicated changes, leading to feelings of being misled. While some customers appreciated the initial pricing, the subsequent hidden costs and lack of support during disputes overshadowed these positives. A recurring sentiment is a lack of accountability from the company, prompting numerous customers to vow never to use the service again. This feedback indicates a critical need for improved transparency and customer support practices.

Buyer Beware!
March 17, 2017

I booked a hotel at the Detroit airport we came in at 1am to find that priceline took our money gave us a booking confirmation and did not book with the Hotel! The onl room they had for us was tiny, we are a family of 6 the hotel was great and didn't charge us. We couldn't get hold of anyone when we checked in and in the morning when we did get hold of them they barely apologized DEDUCTED NOTHING and only offered us a 5% discount off of our next booking through them. Never again terrible service, no help and a huge rip-off! Do your self a favor pay the extra and avoid the hassle it was an awful situation the put us in!

Good prices/60% off
March 15, 2017

I love Priceline, but lately it's a little slacking. As I noticed when you bid, you got to bid much more than just maybe 2 years ago. Big inflation on the prices. Pro: got some good deal before and easy to use. Con: cannot cancel and won't know the name til purchased if go through Express deals or bidding site. Hotels gotten progressively more expensive.

Priceline is by far the worst company that I have ever had to deal with. The owners of the company I work for travel often, I book all the reservations for them, and after the way I was treated I will not be using them again. I was on hold for over 3 hours the other day, and today I am on hold again still trying to fix the issue. It has been going on for over 3 days. I should not have to waste so much of my time for such and easy issue to fix. I have spoken to several different reps and each of them have spoken over top of me and become extremely rude when I try and ask questions. This last rep got loud and talked over top of me. I seriously will spend 3 times as much on a flight just to not deal with them.

Bad Bad Bad
March 13, 2017

This site's customer service is no help at all. I reserved a room for a trip for my family of 4 to later find out that the final charge only included two adults and my 2 kids were not guaranteed accommodations.

I tried to reach customer service about it and they asked me to give them 30 minutes to resolve. When I contacted them again, their rep was rude and left me hanging.

I cancelled my reservation and I am crossing my fingers for that to go smoothly because so far it's been so terrible. Sub-par.

Bait and Switch
March 13, 2017

I booked a "name your own price" deal and got the Crowne Plaza in NYC. Priceline showed me exactly how much my credit card would be charged but when I arrived at the hotel they charged me a $30 per day "resort fee". When I called Priceline to complain, they sent me a brief cold email saying they can't help me and I should have read the fine print? I'm a long time customer...

No help or care
March 12, 2017

Made a reservation and in less than an hour I had to cancel and they said sorry can't help.
I spend over 20 minutes on hold waiting to speak to a real person and the manager just said no way to help.
Needless to say this is my last transaction with them.
NO HELP AND THEY DID NOT CARE
HOPE ANYONE READING THIS WILL MAKE THE RIGHT DECISION TO NOT USE THEM
PRICELINE IS NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY

I purchased a deal to Sweden through Priceline using Icelandair and insurance through Allianz. About a month before my trip I realized I would not be able to go on it. Because I had insurance, I simply needed to cancel the flight and file a claim. BUT every time I contacted Priceline to cancel said trip, they redirected me to Icelandair. Then in turn, I was redirected back to Priceline by Icelandair.
This happened for weeks until I thought I finally broke through with a travel assistant through Priceline. They gave me the impression that my trip had been cancelled. This was not the case and I got an email at flight departure time saying I was a "No-Show". The trip was not cancelled and because of that, my claim has failed as I cannot provide cancellation proof.
Unbelievable hassle and I am deeply disappointing with all 3 companies I had to deal with for this failed reservation.

Do not ever get an express deal! I talked with Kenci (identification number: *******) she was very aggressive I got an hotel, that was supposed to be %26 off, and on the comparison to other hotels they put 3.5 stars compare the to crowne plaza, dobbletree, marriott and hyatt, I got an hotel that nobody knows that it was only $4 dollars less than most pages (not %26 off), in many pages 3 stars instead of 3.5. I called and they also charge an amenity fee at the hotel, and that doesn't say anywhere visible on priceline when you are getting the deal. It was supposed to bee an 8+ hotel but even on priceline they have it rated as 6.7+ (pleasant). They didn't cancel my payment and charged my card anyway, even though I tell them all this things, I lost hours of my time and got an hotel that doesn't fit the description they where advertising, don't ever get express deals with priceline, the worst service and customer service.

False advertising
February 28, 2017

I booked a suite in vegas on priceline.com. Before I submitted my payment I made sure all the room info was right. When I got my receipt it had booked me a standard room. Not what the site showed me. I called customer service explaing what happened... they said the room that showed on there site was no longer available. But to this day that exact room is still showing... I feel that it's false advertisement. They said it shouldn't be showing on the website but it's still there. I was in tears I booked that one bedroom suite for my wedding. And my bridal party all had to cancel there reservations. Total mess! And they did nothing to make it right! Horrible. I will never use this site ever again! My point is that my payment should of never went through for a room i didn't book. If the room wasn't available. What right does that site have to decide to pick a room i didn't order. And then give me a standard room for the price of a suite... straight scam!

Priceline
February 28, 2017

Rental Car! I order the first car through Priceline and when I went to pickup the car I was given the run around and told that two forms of id wasn't enough. Seriously a credit card and DL. So I had to order a second car and even though next counter over received the car. I was then charged by the car rental place and by Priceline. When I called Priceline they said it was for a whole other reason that I was charged. It would have been cheaper by half already if I would have just got the car from the car rental place in the first place, already paying double and you hack on additional fees. WOW.

Not Bad
February 27, 2017

Bid on a vacation and had a decent experience, fees are a bit high though. Seems like with coupons you could get a better deal regardless without the mystery of the bidding system.

Recently booked a hotel on their site not sure if i was going to make my visit because it offered FreeCancellation. Two days later i needed to cancel to be told it was an express rate and i ticked the box. Yes as box was the last box( i accept) i wasn't aware it had gone through on their express. They would not refund. Very confusing and i suspect made that way to get fewer cancellations. There are lots of straight forward sites available so i will never use again and would advise others not to touch it.

Great cancel policy
February 21, 2017

Priceline allows 24 hour free cancel policy after booking a ticket. I love this feature. Even though I even exceeded that limit, they were still flexible in cancelling my ticket. Excellent customer care.

Terrible customer service
February 19, 2017

We booked a hotel with Priceline and arrived to be told we did not have a reservation because it was canceled by the "host." We contacted priceline and were told they used booking. Com to reserve our hotel so we would need to call them. I waited on hold for 10 minutes and was disconnected. We finally just paid for a room because my 3 year old needed to get some rest. We were lucky the hotel we went to had an available room. Too bad we had to pay for it twice.

Priceline is a scam
February 18, 2017

Dont use Priceline they have spiders that see what your looking for and then do a bait and switch. Most all these hotel and travel site do the same thing. Better is to use there prices and go direct to the hotels and use discount codes or the best is AAA membership. Sign up for hotel membership and you will beat priceline by 6-10%

I booked a hotel on Priceline (or what I thought was Priceline.) The Priceline site actually sent me over to Hotel Planner. Turns out to be an affiliate that has different changing and cancellation policy than I thought I had originally agreed to. When my plans changed, I called the number given for service and I tried to modify my reservation. There I was told I couldn't and that I needed to cancel and incur a $25 fee and rebook (price of room was now $20 more). It took me 2 days and multiple calls to the hotel, Priceline and Hotel Planner to straighten this out.
Be careful not to be switched over. What is scariest is that when I asked what was Hotel Planner I was not given a straight answer by three different agents. Finally I spoke directly to Priceline manager who wasn't very happy with me, but did admit they were an affiliate.

Disappointed
February 17, 2017

I recently made a purchase of a vacation package to Houston Texas. Yesterday, a week before my trip, I found out I had a dying family member. I called to try and cancel my trip as I will not be able to travel from Canada to the US. They were not able to cancel anything. I am now out of almost $1500 because I can't make it for this trip. I am so disappointed. I am a manager of a business and we also have a no refund policy, however on many occasions such as these I have made an exception. I now have to pay for travel within my own province in Alberta Canada, as well as keeping and paying for my trip in the US. I wish the website would have had an option to say that I have accepted the terms of no cancellations just like any other website would. Otherwise I would have booked through a different website, knowing that sometimes you have to change plans last minute. Last time I was in Texas, a month ago, I booked through a different website and last minute had to change the flights a few days. With no charge I was able to do so.
