I've used all the major freelancing platforms out there and PPH is my favorite along with Fiverr. It has currently the lowest commission rate (15%) compared to Fiverr's and Upwork's 20%, so more value for both buyers and sellers. Unlike other services, it doesn't hold your earnings for too long and often the earned amount is available for withdrawal on the same day as completed. The platform functions well if you're a freelancer. The only issue I experienced is that sometimes message notifications are extremely late when it gets to your personal email, so you have to be on the lookout for messages. PPH seems to be relatively new with a developing client base, so rarely does a job get posted in my field. However, I get contacted from time to time by genuine clients.
They closed my account for no reason as a freelancer and I didn't even have an email to notify me about this. And on top of that, I can't get in contact with them. Stupid website
Run from them like you're Usain Bolt
To be honest the 14 days payment process is still a headache. But I manage to reduce it to 7 days in 3 months.
Another issue some freelancers are annoying and have no experience. Which let all of these clients leave a bad review. On here and out there.
Im Top rating freelancer one of the 1% high ratings.
Expert in 3d designer for a long time. My profile and positive feedback are growing. pph.me/Amer.K

One of the best platforms out there. It may be best. Easy and fast and not so complicated. I'm a top rate on this platform. Profile.pph.me/Amer.K
Utterly demeaning site, the degree I worked so hard for, paid 18k for and my 8 years experience are worth more than the £5 you'll pay me for a model that will take me 4 hours to create... I'm not usually one for profanity but $#*! you people per hour!
1. The buyers are either scammers or inactive. I rarely sent proposals but this happened twice, some potential buyers sent me a message with instructions, telling me to download certain file from a link that is not even downloadable. A couple of hours later they got suspended for unknown reason. It makes me question the security of this site.
2. Too many recommendations that did not even match my skillset. I can't stand how they called it "invitations", spam us with such emails, and making it looked like real invitations. Please STOP that.
3. The displayed currencies are confusing. In mobile app mostly client's budget was shown in £ in the job posting, but when I checked the post in my email it was shown with $. That surely would make people bid wrongly
Have been a PPH freelancer for 5 1/2 years. Was great when it was set up. But, the site has been going down hill for the last 2 years.
The fees have gone up during this time to 22%. Clearly because the jobs have reduced to an incredibly low rate from the overseas workers. So. PPH are trying to keep their profits up.
There are regular jobs on there. Asking for database systems to be written for less than £100. Take the 22% off, and you are left with £78. How is that going to make someone a living in the UK? £78 for around 3 days work.
There are some review sites,, giving PPH 5* reviews. Look at the names. Very few are from the UK. The whole thing has been taken over by the overseas countries.
If that's what PPH want, then they can keep it. After 5 1/2 years. I've given up on the site.
Not only do PPH take a % cut (which is fine for an introductory service) they also charge you for making job proposals after you have used up a certain number of 'proposal 'credits' - you then have to buy credits to make proposals after that! Feels like a scam. The icing on the cake is them holding your fees for completed work for the best part of a week... 2 clients have paid me a total of £250 which is still sitting in the PPH bank account. The service is a complete time drain of endless proposal writing and chasing payment from PPH. Oh, also scammers - disguised as paying 2 different clients - sent me an executable file... doubtless a virus. They quickly took the job down. Sure that will continue to happen.
The process of "vetting" prospective professionals is fully automated. It is a lie that they require samples (I know because I couldn't attach mine because of a rather idiotic system they got, only asserting it from some sites) he only "problem" they consistently point out is that your LOCATION doesn't match the one you put on your application. Ever heard of travelling, guys? Honest to god. I am a writer, not a local butcher shop - I an write from anywhere on the planet, and as it happens I will be in an entirely different part of the globe quite soon. Then what? You will shut me down because the location doesn't match. Ridiculous! Anyway, even when I tried to "correct" it to match my current location, it kept returning to default and I ended up being declined anyway. Good! This is another PIA site with 100 idiotic tech conundrums and 0 support, so suppose you got a billing problem etc - I am quite sure you'd be on your own too. I hope people abandon all of these blood suckers altogether soon - they have out together a badly thought out site once and just keep collecting all of the commissions for someone else's work while doing 0 to make it a good experience for the same people who make them all the money.
At all costs avoid this site. If you are a freelancer even if you use their escrow service after the client is happy with your work and releases the funds you will wait 16 days to be paid. They claim it takes them 14 days to run security checks which in this day and age is nonsense, this reeks of an excuse to earn interest on your money evn though they already take nearly 25% of your total fee. Then you will wait 48 hours for your payment after withdrawing. These are new rules they implemented with very little notice.
If you are a customer they will not protect you against bad freelancers either.
Customer service are nonsulant and really don't care much about either the freelancers or the customers.
PeoplePerHour, now having a new 14-day payment policy, has come to be an outright scamming platform. Don't even touch. You're not only not going to receive your hard-earned money on time (forget it) but you'll end up PAYING money to withdraw your earnings. Customer/Freelance Support? Ha! Forget it. They just ignore your requests. You best stay away. Questions? Just touch base and I'll be so glad to share more stories about PeoplePerHour. (Also check a ridiculous payment clearing policy PPH has introduced recently.)
Hello,
We got scammed by a freelancer on People Per Hour. They did not deliver the project more than two months after the deadline, and caused us huge losses and distress. Their coding was so bad, it broke everything. Now we have to find someone else to fix these issues, and People Per Hour are not helping to get a refund for the funds we've paid. They are happy to take their commission, but when there are issues - you are left high and dry. They seem to take on coders with fake portfolios and references, and they need to take some responsibility for that.
This has been the most frustrating experience ever.
There are few genuine freelancers out there, but most of them fake 'experts' they show others' work as their own but when you get the job done it'll be sub-standard quality.
I suggest you only work with a high rating freelancer (Top 1% or so).
PPH customer service is very poor, if you file a dispute they ask you to work directly with a freelancer, but still charge 10% commission from you for doing nothing.
I'm a seller on the site. Had a buyer who paid funds into escrow. I completed the job and raised an invoice.
Waiting for the invoice to be paid and today I'm told that the invoice was rejected. Not by the client but by people per hour themselves and they closed the buyers account and THEY REFUNDED MY £800 BACK TO HIM. This is 6 days after I'd completed all of the work.
The buyer managed to get £800 of work from me for free. Or that's what I thought. Reading other people's experiences being buyers, it now looks like they kept the money and didn't refund anyone.
This is pure theft.
Well great platform for freelancer; and bring people together the platform is great; the money paid is always secure and safe; but a lot needs to be done on the freelancer on here; some are not as good as they claim; even with good review they still come out with unprofessional job as end result.
If one has the skill then PPH is definitely the place for him. I got my first job within 3 days which was amazing and now i am planning to take PPH even more seriously. It is an awesome platform and thus, i recommend everyone to join peopleperhour.
I have used this website several times, and have been extremely satisfied each time. I have found incredibly talented people all over the world, and they have done excellent work for me (music arrangement, web design, etc).
They have to improve a lot when it comes to sellers paying for proposals that are not accurately defined. Had to refund some money to sellers because job postings needed more information. I'm a professional translator (with training and experience) and see a lot of people getting work in the field due to very low rates - people with no training in the field. It´s very unfair. Quality is not assured and sellers don't know what they are getting, as most speak English and don't know a bit of my language.
After not getting a refund from a seller who did not carry out the work i paid for and my business was offline for weeks costing me a few grand in lost sales they left me no choice but to contact paypal to get me my money back.
Within a few minutes of paypal being contacted people per hour sent me a message saying that i should not be using paypal to get my money back and it is against the terms and conditions.
Why accept paypal i am paying for a service so that my money is safe the seller was clearly not paying me back.
So they deactivated my account as soon as i complained.
After using this company for a few years i can see that this company is purely money driven with no care for the types of people they let sell on it as i see so many crooked sellers that offer poor work.
I would advise people to avoid this company.
I was using their platform as a designer from actually the start of when they started. I even knew people that worked there. I find their process deceptive. The jobs on their are so low quality. While they are a uk site, it is not uk friendly and they heavily modify reviews which you leave about your experience on trust pilot. The fees they charge are too high. What are they actually doing with that money? Oh yeah they have their adminstrators take down genuine user ecpereiences of their shoddy site.
Finally I have got PPH very helpful! Now I am really satisfied with their support and services. But I think they should warn freelancers/clients at first before taking final action against their account. Because an account is a career of a freelancer.
I have tried 10 different projects from PPH and every single one of them was a scam. Some asked for my banking information, one sent me a fake W4 page and thankfully I did not comply. They were pretending to be a company that truly exists and California. I am frustrated and disappointed.
Answer: They are not interested in answering queries and questions = the best way of getting a message across to the Wally that runs the site is to get involved in one of their Webinars = that by the way, is the only reason anyone would want to take part in them!
Answer: They are stupid and lazy. I sent emails for my account being deactivated, when they responded "I do not see an account with this email. Email me from the email on your account." Well, if I do not have an account and cannot make one, how I am supposed to email you from one on the nonexisting account? They did not read my email when I asked why or they would have known I did not have an account and could not email from that email. You have to pay a price for each job you apply so really I find it a scam. There are jobs posted, but after a year never hired and what is to prove they are legit jobs? Afterall, we have to pay just to apply!
Answer: Nobody wants to talk on the phone. Everything is by email with a 2 to 3 day response delay depending on your Geo location.

Answer: Because there are lots of people who say they can do stuff, but actually can't, and when they fail, you still pay.
Answer: Definitely call your credit card company and dispute the charge.
