There are two huge problem with remote freelancing sites, and this one is no exception: Scams, scams, scams, scams, scams. Unvetted job posts lead to scam after scam, most of which are obvious (little-to-no detail, crazy overpayment for simple tasks, bad grammar, etc), some are a little more clever, which I assume are just job descriptions lifted from elsewhere, then they start asking you for weird info and redirect you to other sites.
And of course there's the other thing: The pay. If you live in the United States, or Europe, or Australia, or any similar nation, you're going to find most of the work is underpaid because there are 100,000 people from Kenya or India or Pakistan willing to do 10 hours of work for $41. That is a literal real example that I pulled. It is SUCH a waste of time.
I certify that this review is based on my own experience, that I am in no way affiliated with this business, and have not been offered any incentive or payment to write this review. I agree to Sitejabber's Terms of Service, including to not write false reviews – which is, in many cases, against the law.
This company based in England (they say) is a directory of people from India, Pakistan, Iraq, Iran, Somalia and all those countries where you can hardly claim the service you buy for your money.
Anyone can subscribe saying that they are "Astronaut" and there you will see it listed... very low level in general and the platform service is poor. If you want to get scammed this is the right place.
They are going to rob you without a doubt, but before it will be later, I do not recommend it.
The process of "vetting" prospective professionals is fully automated. It is a lie that they require samples (I know because I couldn't attach mine because of a rather idiotic system they got, only asserting it from some sites) he only "problem" they consistently point out is that your LOCATION doesn't match the one you put on your application. Ever heard of travelling, guys? Honest to god. I am a writer, not a local butcher shop - I an write from anywhere on the planet, and as it happens I will be in an entirely different part of the globe quite soon. Then what? You will shut me down because the location doesn't match. Ridiculous! Anyway, even when I tried to "correct" it to match my current location, it kept returning to default and I ended up being declined anyway. Good! This is another PIA site with 100 idiotic tech conundrums and 0 support, so suppose you got a billing problem etc - I am quite sure you'd be on your own too. I hope people abandon all of these blood suckers altogether soon - they have out together a badly thought out site once and just keep collecting all of the commissions for someone else's work while doing 0 to make it a good experience for the same people who make them all the money.
One of the worst experiences in my life... they ask me three times to explain the problem again and they do it every two months.
I didn't get the job I ordered; the money I paid 6 months ago has not been returned to me yet and it seems that I will probably never get it...don't screw yourself up, choose any other freelancer site, just don't choose this one.
Absolutely the worst experience ever. They decline projects and keep service fees. 100 percent total scam.
Last month I hired a freelancer for some SEO work. After searching heavily I found one with a 5.0 rating, which is the highest in their system. The work was of no quality and was a total mess. When I submit my feedback, as per their system, my review doesn't appear until the freelancer adds her review.
So, if the freelancer doesn't do that, my honest review will never appear and there is no way another buyer knowing about her work. Probably, this is how she got the highest rating.
I have tried 10 different projects from PPH and every single one of them was a scam. Some asked for my banking information, one sent me a fake W4 page and thankfully I did not comply. They were pretending to be a company that truly exists and California. I am frustrated and disappointed.
I paid £100 for a logo so it could be fast tracked as needed it within a day. The logo was the poorest of quality and looked like it had been made with Microsoft pait. I requested a refund from PPH who declined and said it does not fall within their policy. Be aware, you are not protected and if not happy with the work you have to pay for nothing!
Without warning decided my ip address is bad and banned me. After the $1,000 I paid I am charging back
They give preference for paid registration only not free registration, I am unsatisfied with this site
They kept denying my post then told me I couldn't repost for 3 months. Ridiculous uneducated admins that don't understand government bids and procurement. I'm canceling my profile.
Very Unprofessional Freelancer Marketplace. Customer support is very Unprofessional more than 7 days can't reply support mail. And without Issue freelancer account has been deactivated. Don't use PeoplePerHour
They only support their own community. I want to give PPH review 0.*******
PPH works on the favour of the buyer and they do nothing when the buyer rejects your invoice.
Do not work on PPH.
You just mention that you are a Pakistan and you will get automatic reply of rejection within one hour of the freelancing application.
Years ago PPH were great. You could get great projects to work on and a fair price for your work. It has steadily got worse. If you're a freelancer you should avoid this site at all costs. They are pathetic from the start. They want money for everything and take a fortune off you for any work you do manage to get. The jobs are also a joke with clients wanting to pay peanuts usually for work. It always makes me laugh to read things like "Only experts apply, I need a quality website - £80" lmao.
They even stopped me getting paid once and blocked my account stating that I'd been paid outside of PPH which I hadn't! Complete time wasters and scam artists.
PPH seem to be a scam.
As a freelancer, worked and submitted the project perfectly. But their customer service and superior department hold's my money showing buyer account issue. This is just like a scam.
Never ever trust PPH.
Fiverr is much more trustable and professional than PPH.
My case is very simple.
I hired a "5-star" freelancer on PPh marketplace to create the home page for my future website and deposited $100 for that.
Before he starts I notified him that the page should have 7-8 sections with 3 or 4 or 5 products in each.
After 1,5 months of his "hard" work, he couldn't do even the FIRST section properly.
But much more interesting is the behavior of PPH.
After I ask refund, they tell me that I have to pay the freelancer. They didn't tell me WHAT FOR I should pay?.
Ok, then I applied to Paypal for the refund. After that PPH inform me that this is against their rules and if I contacted Paypal with a request, they will deactivate my account. Like a robber is robbing you, you tell him that you will call to police and the robber threaten that in that case, he will rob also your house...
Is it a website working in a civilized country?
I'm glad that never will use that website and its "5star" developers.
Be carefull with your money if have contact with peopleperhour.
They kept reviewing my application and wasting my time. After every submission, in 10 seconds my application was rejected. What a waste of time!
Answer: They are not interested in answering queries and questions = the best way of getting a message across to the Wally that runs the site is to get involved in one of their Webinars = that by the way, is the only reason anyone would want to take part in them!
Answer: They are stupid and lazy. I sent emails for my account being deactivated, when they responded "I do not see an account with this email. Email me from the email on your account." Well, if I do not have an account and cannot make one, how I am supposed to email you from one on the nonexisting account? They did not read my email when I asked why or they would have known I did not have an account and could not email from that email. You have to pay a price for each job you apply so really I find it a scam. There are jobs posted, but after a year never hired and what is to prove they are legit jobs? Afterall, we have to pay just to apply!
Answer: Nobody wants to talk on the phone. Everything is by email with a 2 to 3 day response delay depending on your Geo location.

Answer: Because there are lots of people who say they can do stuff, but actually can't, and when they fail, you still pay.
Answer: Definitely call your credit card company and dispute the charge.
