The overall reputation of the company is significantly tarnished by widespread customer dissatisfaction, particularly regarding its customer service and billing practices. Many customers report unauthorized charges related to a Prime membership, alongside difficulties in canceling subscriptions and obtaining refunds. Common themes include a lack of responsiveness, misleading marketing, and perceived deceptive practices. While a few customers noted competitive pricing, the negative experiences overwhelmingly overshadow any positives, leading to a general sentiment of frustration and distrust. Overall, potential customers are advised to exercise caution when considering this service.

This is really the worst of travel agencies. I paid 3500 pounds for a ticket and had to make a change, because of an unforseen medical circumstance. In the app I requested the change, and was told I could make the change for 170 pounds. Very reasonable, I accepted it. Then I got an email saying actually it would be 2,000 pounds. The followed a long four days, with seven long distance calls, over and over again without being able to even accept or pay the aburd price. I would call go over what I wanted ( again and again) and I was told over and over, someone would call me back. Once someone did and they sent me a payment link. I tried three, three! Different debit and credit cards, and none would be accepted. My ¨review" "collapsed", so once again I asked for the change. This time it came back, that I would have to pay 3200 pounds. It seems to me that this is very much a scam. There was no intention of reserving until they managed to push the price to the Moon. Terrible experience. Probably the worst ever
We should all write a letter to him and to UK and EU consumer rights agencies and urge them to take action! These crooks continue stealing from people because we let them! https://www.phocuswrighteurope.com/whos-coming/speakers/2019/dana-dunne
I booked a Wizz Air flight through Opodo (Booking ID: *******3896, Wizz Air code MW2SUA). The airline rescheduled the flight, and I requested a refund directly with Wizz Air, which they approved. Months later, Opodo has still not returned my €300. I've sent them all required documents, including the Wizz Air invoice, but their "support" only sends generic replies and keeps delaying. They are clearly holding customers' money for as long as possible. If your plans change or the airline modifies your flight, don't expect Opodo to help. Their app and website make it hard to reach a real person, and their so-called "guarantees" are meaningless. Avoid this company - book directly with the airline to protect your money and your sanity.
Be careful when booking via Opodo – misleading discount trick cost me €89.95! While booking a flight through Opodo, I was offered an additional discount. What I didn't realize was that I was unknowingly subscribing to their "Prime membership." Without clear notice, €89.95 was charged to my account. Opodo makes it seem like you're simply activating a one-time discount, but in reality, you're being silently enrolled into a subscription service. The process is designed to mislead you. After many hurdles I finally reached customer service – but they clearly participate in this deceptive practice. I was offered generic, meaningless responses and no real solution. I was not taken seriously and felt deliberately strung along. I feel completely deceived. This is not an honest or transparent way to treat customers. Be warned – you could easily lose nearly €90 on something you never knowingly agreed to.
Really disappointed with how Opodo promotes the "free Prime trial". They offer a 15-day trial during booking, but then charge people right after, claiming they're not eligible because they have already used a trial years before... They're able to check this within a minute of the booking, so clearly they could do it beforehand. It feels like this is done on purpose to push people into paid plans without proper warning.
Disaster.
I booked my return flight to Tunisia through Opodo four months in advance, with the original departure scheduled from Gatwick Airport. On the day of my trip, I discovered there was no such flight. At the airport, I was informed that my flight was actually scheduled for the next day from Heathrow, not Gatwick. I had to return home and travel again the next day to Heathrow. Opodo never informed me about this change.
The return journey was even worse. My return tickets were canceled without any explanation. I had to purchase new return tickets for myself and my son at three times the original price. Again, no communication from Opodo regarding the cancellation.
I fought for a refund, and after nine months, I finally received a partial refund.
Conclusion – Never again with Opodo.
Opodo Customer Service – utterly useless.
Thieves, sons of $#*!3s, they charged me for a Prime subscription without permission. They won't refund the money and it's impossible to contact them, apparently they do this to everyone, be careful
I made reservation via opodo and I received email just few hours before rental that my reservation is cancelled due to vehicle shortage. I haven't received full refund till this date! They avoid picking up phone, they don't reply your emails just keeping ignoring you.
Abusive, non-transparent, unclear, hidden way to trick customers into buying the premium annual subscription.
Also there is no way mentioned in the emails of how to cancel the subscription. This is forcefully triciking customers into spending on unwanted services.
NEVER USE THIS SCAM COMPANY!
Booked a £459 3 night stay in the Philippines, when I got to the hotel, the receptionist told me the hotel was full and had never even heard of Opodo!
Not only that Opodo took £89 from my account for Prime membership!
After numerous phone calls to an English number,I was promised a full refund within 72 hours! I even phoned back to make sure and was told a full refund would be paid for the hotel booking.
It is now 11 days later,I am home,no refund and still fighting to get it!
Also I have had heated conversation with Opodo Prime, they have told me that I cannot have my money back as being a Prime member,I had £120 off my hotel booking! A hotel booking that was never made!
NEVER USE OPODO!
YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
ITS A MASSIVE SCAMMING COMPANY!
Avoid! Opodo provide old terms and conditions and I was forced to purchase extra insurance - that costed me 274£. I was told by Opodo customer advisor that I can claim it back as it was obvious mistake made by Opodo. Service provider informed Opodo couple of months earlier about changes but they didn't update t&c. Horrible customer service.
Opodo messed up my booking by not including hold luggage when I had paid for it. I was told to pay for it at the airport and claim it back. I have been trying to get my refund now for 4 months! I even got an email in November saying that my refund would be made in 10 days but still nothing. Their "Customer Service" is shocking and I will NEVER deal with them again and suggest you avoid too
Awful company to deal with, when you get a problem, they don't help, all they say is wait, wait, wait! They say you need wait 30 days, 30 days goes by and nothing, you chase them, they then say you need to wait 90 days after the trip, 90 days goes by, nothing! Having verbally agreed a full refund, we are now 18 months later (yes 18 months) and still nothing. Not one update, not one call, email or message. Awful company, don't use them unless you can guarantee no issues. They hide behind the airlines and state in their T&Cs that your contract is with the Airline and not them!

Beware of Prime operators
If you are answered by operator Sunama - put the phone down and try again until you get someone else - I phoned in today to cancel my Opodo Prime membership before the 15 day free trial period ended.
I thought I had specifically explained that I wanted to cancel the subscription and cancel the direct debit. Then I received an email she had taken £44.99 out of my account. Maybe they use foreign call centres on purpose to trick people with their broken English and fast talking to trick people into something they specifically did not want🤔🤔🤔🤔. Plus the next day they took another £69.99 out of my account 🤬🤬🤬
Most incompetent and useless company ever. Stay away, I would never use them again. It has been over 4 months waiting for a solution and still waiting...
It would have been a good idea to have read some reviews before choosing them. I didn't. I choose them because of the price. Big mistake. Finally I have paid more, not mentioning horrible interaction with their so-called "customer service". In few words, for arcane reasons they failed to perform online check-in on my behalf for the return flight and airline company charged me 50 euros, peanuts comparing to what you can find reading other reviews. No answer to my complaint until I decided to write a review. And the answer was almost funny, they pretend it was my mistake as I didn't contact them before flights, completely false statement. Take care guys, with Opodo cheaper can mean more expensive, not mentioning complete lack of concern regarding customers.
Appalling. They just robbed me of £70 for an account I haven't used since 2022 which auto-renews. I called to cancel and get a refund as soon as I got the email, and they said it's impossible to refund. Absolute joke. The person on the phone was awfully disrespectful to me and spoke to me like I was an idiot when they are not following basic rules that literally every other subscription company uses: send an email a few days before auto-renewal to allow people to cancel. I have never seen such appalling customer service.
Not transparent. I felt tricked.
I paid about £40 more for the Opodo Super Flex ticket which allows some flexibility for changes / cancellations. Two days later, they inform me that another £89.99 would be debited from my card unauthorised.
The reason they gave (very complex and makes no sense) is that at time of purchase I was auto-discounted £49 for their 'prime discount'. They said that because I had a similar prime discount from them on one occasion 3 years ago (which I don't remember), I was no longer eligible for the auto £49 discount. And so they were debiting me for £89.99 for a membership fee for a year that would permit the £49 discount.
They are refusing for me to either cancel their membership fee of £89.99 and pay the £49 discount, now that their non-transparent sales methods are exposed. They are also refusing for me to cancel the tickets, on the grounds that they are now more expensive than what was apparent at time of purchase.
If their can detect a customer as a returning customer after the sale, surely their technology can identify the customer at the point of sale so that the customer will be aware of what they will be charged.
I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with Opodo that I feel compelled to share. If you are considering using this service, I urge you to think twice. Here's why:
Unauthorized Prime Membership Enrollment and Charges
Despite carefully opting out of their Prime membership while booking, Opodo signed me up anyway. Worse still, they charged me twice without my consent: £59.99 last year and £69.99 this year. This happened without any clear warning or permission, which is nothing short of a deceptive practice.
Difficulty in Canceling Prime Membership
Attempting to cancel this unauthorized membership turned into a nightmare. Opodo requires you to call them directly to cancel Prime, a process that's deliberately made as difficult as possible. When I finally got through to an agent, I was told I would not receive a refund for the unauthorized charges. They offered only to cancel the membership moving forward, which felt like adding insult to injury.
Misleading Prime Membership Benefits
Opodo markets their Prime membership as offering the best travel deals, but I found this to be misleading. I easily found cheaper options on other, more reputable websites. Their claims of savings are false, and the supposed benefits of Prime membership are, in my experience, nonexistent.
Questionable Reviews on Trustpilot
The positive, 5-star reviews on Trustpilot appear highly suspicious. It's hard not to believe that these glowing reviews might be fabricated by Opodo's own staff to lure unsuspecting customers into their trap. The contrast between these reviews and my own experience is stark.
A Final Word: Avoid at All Costs
Opodo's practices are nothing short of a scam. They lure you in with promises of savings, only to charge you annually for a membership that offers no real benefits. Their customer service is abysmal, designed to frustrate you into giving up on getting your money back. It's shocking that a company like this is still operating.
If you value your money, time, and peace of mind, I strongly recommend avoiding Opodo altogether. There are plenty of legitimate travel booking websites out there that offer better deals, transparency, and respect for their customers.
Answer: Guys, it would only cost you about £40 to take them to small claims court. Dont just take the loss, these people need to be held to account. Id also contact Rip Off Britain to get a programme made about their tactics
Answer: You can complain all you like but once they have your money they dont give a tinkers cuss. Best form of complaint is social media like this site and face book.
