Best customer service ever

I've made two purchases of Herman Miller Equa chairs from Office Chair@ Work. My first (in 2019) was perfect and exactly what I wanted, but the second (in 2022) was not what I expected and I needed to return it. So why am I still leaving a five star review? Because the customer service when I had an issue with that second order was beyond amazing.

I received a response to every e-mail within no more than 45 minutes. And it was not just some canned automatic robo-response -- it was a substantive response from a real human being. She even responded almost immediately to e-mails sent at 2Am and 3AM. I wasn't expecting a response until the next day at the earliest, but she e-mailed me back at 2:16AM and 3:18AM. I've never seen that from any other company, ever.

I ultimately returned the chair for a full refund (after she searched the inventory at my request to see if the company had a suitable replacement), but I won't hesitate to do business with this company again.

I believe office chair has the quickest customer service reponse time via email. Had some questions and got a reply via email within 5 minutes. That is fast.

Horrible Customer Service! 0 Stars!

If you value quality customer service, STAY AWAY from *******@Work. I have been trying for over a month to get a full refund for a chair I returned (they issued 50%). They hide behind email and will not speak with you directly. I purchased 2 chairs – the first was my mistake because I ordered a chair with fixed arms and they were not high enough for me (I'm 6'4"). I returned that chair without issue. The second chair is where I ran into problems. I ordered another Herman Miller Aeron with adjustable arms this time and the other key feature I liked, based on the video on their site, was the ability to lock in the forward position. The chair I received would not lock in that position, so I traded email with a "customer service" rep and she told me, "No it does NOT LOCK in the forward position. Dream on. If you don't like the chair, return it!" (WOW!) At no time did she indicate I would not be receiving a full refund (as the site states). Her words: "We do not allow testing chair. You returned 2 chairs you were charged the restocking fee per our terms of service. You bought a chair without adjustable arms so that is what you got." After I argued my case she replied, "Sorry, nothing is defective." I asked to have a manager call me…crickets. I called the 800 number and asked the same…. Crickets. So now, I have no chair and am out $350. Never doing business with this company again!

I ordered 2 Henry Miller chairs. The credit card was charged immediately. Their terms of service are buried under a link titled "Terms of Service" where it states chairs could take up to 14 days "to process" after the credit card charge. When I reached out to customer service, they stated it's 14 business days. OK that was transparent on the site, but OK. So I waited and the first chair was shipped within the 14 "business days". Unfortunately, I am still waiting for the second chair to be shipped and it is AFTER the 14th business day. The only way to get assistance is through email. When you call the number on the site, they direct you to email. They have one individual, Evelyn, who is the only one that replies to support requests. She responded in a timely manner initially. Now, when I have yet to see my second chair shipped, there is nothing but silence on their end. My only recourse is to post a negative review and dispute the charge for the second chair. Interesting fact, when you go to Yelp and look at their ratings, it's 1.5. On their site, its 4.8. Seems as they are filtering the negative reviews and are not being transparent on all the feedback on their business. And there is no way to post a review directly on their site.

Leap chair

I ordered 4 Steelcase Leap chairs and they arrived dirty, worn, and severely used. It was difficult to give these to employees. They were $450 each but that was too expensive for what was received.

Ordered the leap v2 chair a couple weeks back. The quality was absolutely atrocious - wheels had built up dust and bugs inside, leather was scratched everywhere, height adjustment was not working, etc. I took pictures of what was wrong and requested a return (30 day money back guarantee as they have posted on their website). The immediate response I get is not an apology or them accepting the return, instead they insist I am not assembling the chair properly and that they will not be issuing a return for it. All of this is said in an extremely passive aggressive way. Afterwards, I request a return via PayPal, thankfully they are able to facilitate the process for me with these idiots over there at this company. Shortly after, they send me an email threatening to SWAT my house! See attached picture. "WHICH WILL RESULT IN YOUR PLACE BEING SWATED IN FRONT OF YOUR NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, COWORKERS. PENALTIES MAY INCLUDE IMPRISONMENT OF UP TO 10 YEARS." This is actually unbelievable lol. And the fact they send it from "legal." So crazy lol. Also *******@aol.com… I swear this company is run by a bunch of uneducated bafoons… sad really that this company is even afloat. Anyways now I'm waiting for chair to be picked up by UPS so fingers crossed I don't get swatted… actually fearing for my life now because of this

Lied about processing time
August 29, 2022

I placed an order for an aeron chair. When I placed the order, it said 5-14 business days for processing. I was fine with this.

After 10 days I contacted support to ask for an update on my order. I got a response saying "The current free shipping and processing lead time on all Aeron chair orders is 10 to 20 business days from order date as seen on the sales listing" with a screenshot, showing an arrow pointing to text in the form that clearly said *5 - 14 business days*. I checked my order confirmation, and again it said *5 - 14 business days*. Ok, whatever.

I waited until 14 business days had passed, and reached for another update. I was then told "Due to a sudden surge in global Aeron chair sales, there is a slight delay in processing orders at all Aeron chair sellers.". And was told it would be *another* 5 - 15 business days before my order would ship. I canceled my order.

If you have a "sudden surge" in sales that is delaying order processing, you need to clearly state as much in your order forms, and send updates to customers with pending order stating that there's been a delay. Don't misdirect and blatantly lie about stated processing times when asked.

Just avoid this company, pay the extra money for a new chair, or go to a more reputable third-party seller.

Broken Old Chair

If you want to overpay for broken falsely advertised old chairs, this is the place!

The chair was advertised as leather. It is not leather, it is plastic. Supposed to be restored. Barely wiping something down is not restored. The casters bind, the foam is not new, and it "creaks and pops."

What they call customer service is a disaster. 12 year warranty is a joke. Not even 12 seconds. My issues could have been resolved with a phone call. My emails have my number. Nobody answers their number. I was told in one of the many curt emails from Evelyn Kinsley, Customer Care Team, that they don't do phone calls. Well that's their definition customer service - just like plastic is the same as leather.

The second chair we ordered with the fake leather chair came in with a piece snapped off. That one was sent back, lets see how long it takes for them to refund my money.

The fake leather one was assembled before I realized it was plastic, not leather. I was told to take it apart and send it back. I don't have the tools to take it apart without damaging it. I offered to keep the chair, but at a discount. I have to buy casters, and fake leather is not leather. I was again told to take the chair apart and send it back. What part of I don't have the tools to take it apart do they not understand. I am going to start charging storage. Officechairatwork lied about what they sold/shipped me, and they wont stand behind the product.

If you want rickety old used furniture go local and see what you are getting, or like the cake in the Little Rascals, buy one from these guys. If you want to get threatening emails in all caps from their "legal dept" threatening "YOUR PLACE BEING SWATED IN FRONT OF YOUR NEIGHBORS, FRIENDS, FAMILY, COWORKERS." while your dispute is being handled by Visa, buy from these guys.

I thought I was getting old stock. They bury the fact that it is restored. Caveat emptor!

They don't stand behind what they sell, and when they screw up they don't try to make it better. That's their idea of customer service. Massive fail!

Not a Scam

This site is not a scam. I was hesitant at first after reading so many reviews that seemed negative. However, the big picture is that the chairs are not new they are preowned and repaired. Some may come with a scuff or a scratch but the mechanisms work as they should. I bought two chairs from the company a SteelCase and an HM Aeron. The SteelCase came first as the high demand for Aeron means you HAVE TO WATE. (which seems impossible for people who are used to Amazon). The return policy starts as soon as the chair arrives and the company would like to know if there are any issues 24 hours upon arrival. That way they know if the issue was due to shipping, and most issues they would prefer to send a part for repair than returning the chair. I emailed the company multiple times to ensure I understood there terms & conditions and they were always quick to respond and concise.
I think this company has received a bad reputation from people wh:
1. Thought the chairs were brand new. (look at the price, these are not going to be new)
2. Made demands that were ridiculous and expected the company to cave to avoid a bad review.

I am writing this review because the number of reviews I feel are inaccurate or skewed is unfair to the company.

Shipping time is not what is posted

I purchased a chair August 4th with shipping reflected as 5-14 days on the invoice. The order showed "Complete" on my login page within 3 days and a UPS Tracking number was provided. Upon checking, the UPS label had been created and nothing else done. I've contacted the company on multiple occasions trying to find out when this would ship and their responses though timely were inadequate, providing 1 sentence answers that were not comprehensive. I was told the one time, shipping would be 10-20 BUSINESS days, and the next time told I would receive it between September 1 -10. The way they've described things is it appears the shipping time is actually the order processing time! It's now 5 weeks since ordering and still no chair or evidence it's been shipped. Yesterday, I emailed to let them know that there had been no change to my order and requested the company ship the chair at their cost to be delivered by their committed date of Sept 10, or I would file a dispute with my credit card company and post a negative review. Their response was "Our company has a zero tolerance policy towards threats. Therefore, we have decided to cancel your order and issue a refund." They were actually quick to take action here! The order now show's a refund, but who knows if they'll 'deliver' that either. Since they've not been able to deliver the chair requested in the time they quoted, I've taken action and filed a dispute with my credit card company and I'm here to warn others of their unclear processing timelines and poor shipping practice. I don't make threats. I take action to protect me, my money and fellow consumers.
