OfferUp Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.

I use Nextdoor, Craigslist, Facebook Marketplace and OfferUp to sell things. This app is by far the worst. You have no way to renew your ads unless you PAY to "bump" them! In addition, for some reason, despite marking ALL my posts as "FIRM price" I get a ridiculous number of annoying low ball offers and questions in Spanish from weird viewers, most without photos or legit profiles. Waste of time.

Build your ratings just to lose your account over lying butthurt customers who are mad because you didn't drop your price in half.
Half the time your items will not be seen on the system on account of bugs in their system that they don't seem to be able to fix.
I went for a full 2 weeks without people seeing my posts.
You will sell 1 item out of every 30 customers that contact you if your lucky.

BEWARE OF SELLERS ON THIS SITE. I recently discovered a scam on there and OfferUp asked ME (I don't even shop on OfferUp, it was just a total chance thing) to go and report ALL 93 OF HIS POSTINGS. Like wtf, OfferUp, are you going to PAY ME to do that? Isn't that YOUR job to stop him once you've been made aware of illegal activity on your site? Give me a $#*!ing break. Hey, this is probably a great place to sell drugs, btw, clearly OU doesn't give a $#*! about what's going on on their platform.

Offerup was easy to use in the past. Now they've got a "new and improved" site that's anything but. First of all, you used to be able to set your distance and search all categories, and it would stick. No more. Now every time you change what you're searching for, you have to go back in and reset the distance you're willing to travel. Even better yet, now the pages are full of ADS. Penneys, Overstock, Vermont, etc. etc. I used to be regular shopper but have deleted them from my favorites.

Cellphone Scammers
June 25, 2018

Bought an IPhone 7 and the seller said it sold to someone else. Of course it was not unlocked and APPLE store needed a purchase receipt to help me. Seller never again responded.
Just bought an IPhone 6 which I thought would have no issues due to it being a 6, I was wrong! It was sim locked and I dont know what carrier. Of course seller wont answer messages.
I have reported it to OfferUp, but nothing has been done.
I recommend not buying a cellphone on Offer Up... I wont!

Terrible customer service, don't have any phone number for contact them, they don't have policy for counterfeit item, so you don't have any protection about counterfeit item.

Scammers
June 9, 2018

90% of the people on there buying are a joke. They only want to buy if it's free or almost free. Lots of people asking the dumb question is it available. Then you answer them with yes it is and nothing no response. Also why does offer up still allow formula to be sold and baby food. Umm hello these scum bags are selling wic. Like really common sense when it's all the same Similac brand and beechnut baby food jars. Also the people selling breast pumps.Stop letting people get away with this crap.

Monopolizing
June 9, 2018

There's nothing but dealerships on offer up selling they're cars. I don't think that is fair. For people like me who owns one car and needs the money and is just trying to sell the vehicle to make ends meet. Maybe the makers or the people who run this app could make a separate place or site for them to do they're business so that us little guys can do what we can. With all the vehicles that are constantly posted by them there's no chance for people to see what regular people are posting. Please help!

OFFERUP IS A SCAM!
June 8, 2018

OFFER UP stole my money. I sent my item to the buyer, with the OFFERUP MAILING LABEL and they keep telling me to "send my package" regardless of USPS confirming delivery! OFFERUP IS A SCAM!

I have put several items on offerup and at a fair price, good doesn't come for a buck. I either get people who say they are interested or "is it still available" but when I respond... dead air. I message them if they are still interested but hear nothing. The only sales I have made are when I practically give it away. Offerup has no real customer support and they expect everyone to have Facebook so for people like me who don't mess with that crap verification is hard. TruYou is a scam and the BBB warns against using them. The app wouldn't even let me delete my account! Very dissapointed with offerup and I will stick to eBay from now on.

They don't respond to customers they also rip you off making you think that it's only $2 and something to bump your posts when really it's only one post you're allowed to bump after that you got to pay another 2 bucks not only that but they don't allow customers to see other customers reviews which is really stupid and inconvenient

Ive sold various items but not without having to chase down buyers to show up. You see buyers have nothing to lose because there is no money exchanged until
You meet up with them. IF they show a lot of people renague on original price posted offering a fraction of what its posted for. Im not saying this is every single time but it seems to be the norm. I also notice that when I pay $1.99 to upgrade my items, I get an instant response from people that say I want to buy your item and I respond yes ok. Never to heard from again. Hmm a lil suspicious of you ask me. Anyway I wish there were some addition to this app enabling true sales from serious buyers.
