This app is full of rude, disrespectful, crude, negligent, paranoid sellers. The effort you have to expend to try to transact business is not worth it. Generally the prices are set high and the sellers won't negotiate. But the biggest problem is OfferUp management encourages sellers to be skeptical, doubting and suspicious. God forbid a seller complains about a buyer, the lecture commenses, no matter how frivolous the complaint. Stick with Craigslist. The people there are much easier to work with. This app gets.
I used offer up successfully for many years. I just recently marked all items sold - haven't had any sales in 18 months. Previous years had unlimited sales - all my items are quality. TOO MANY commercial dealers on it now - all ads. Shame that developers let it go to pot.
I have been purchasing on Craigslist, Ebay, etc. In the short amount of time that I have been using Offer Up I had a buyer send me a false address and then she disappears. In the meantime, I loose money in delivery fees and gas reimbursement... mind you gas is at 6 + dollars a gallon. To hire a crew that uses a truck to pick up items is not cheap. I also had another seller who I inquired about a product and she demanded I pick it up. An inquiry does not equate to a sell. This site is a bit odd and has interesting characters. I have not experienced this on any other buy and sell site. Buyer be ware and very weary of purchasing from those on offer up.
What was letgo thinking, why did they join with OFFERUP? OfferUp listings are old, some are 4+ years old! Clean up your data. When an item gets sold it still displays on your board, why not remove it and send a notification like LETgo did. Instead, OfferUp's feed is filled with duplicates, sold, and old listings. How about you display the price on the feed view rather than making the user go in to the listing? Total waste of time and you can't even scroll to the next listing until you go back to the feed.
I recently sold two items. Offer up ruined both sales by providing wrong shipping labels: one printed with wrong address and weight limit. Therefore the buyer did not get the item and it was sent back. The other label, for a very heavy item printed with a 15 oz limit and the sale was cancelled as well. It's very difficult to communicate with them
Offer up needs to get it's act together!
I've been trying to buy a car for about two weeks now off the offer-up app and no one responds to any messages and also when you email the people they all say the same thing about every car, which makes me think they are scams and they used eBay to sent car which doesn't make sense if their using the offer-up app.
I sold a cell phone through OfferUp it was the first time I use them for a long distance sale. They brokered the sale took a percentage and sent me a shipping label. Shipped it out during the weekend. I guess shipping label didn't get scanned until Monday as I live in an area considered rural and the post office doesn't work over the weekend. Long story the transaction was canceled after After I shipped and I was never paid. I have tracking saying item arrived to buyer and written confirmation that buyer received the phone. And they've refused to pay me saying they issue the money back to buyer. And will not investigate or do anything about it. I've attempted to reach out to them 3-4 times about it and nothing. Very horrible service. Not trust worthy not one bit. Will never used them ever again.
I just started using Offer up and I have not sold anything-I only posted a couple of items just to see the response. The biggest gripe is that people list but do not pay attention to the category that they list in! For instance, you could open up "tickets" and there's furniture and clothing, etc! No wonder people have problems selling and buyers can't find what they're looking for! There are lots of multiple listings for the same item(s). I just scan the "free" items daily, and even THAT category needs an update because people list as "free", with a price of $0, but they want to negotiate! Give them the option to list as NEGOTIABLE then buyers aren't wasting their time asking questions, waiting for responses, only to find that the item is not actually "free."
I hate this app now. I had over 30 sales on let go. It was easy to use, there wasn't any adds. This merge they did with offered up just really ruined a good thing. It's hard to find items actually in your own area it brings up outta state items and makes it really deceiving. I am deleting my account. To bad I had 5 stars and great reviews. Let go messed up.
There's a bunch of flakes on offerUp they want to argue with you about the price you should sell something for they want to price it for you. Then if you buy something you're lucky if you get what you paid for or get anything at all. Now anything you sell on OfferUp $600 or more you will receive a 1099 in the mail for taxes. They want your ID your social security number and every other detail and there's no phone number to reach them by so you're giving this to some person in an email who you don't even known or what they're really doing with it for all you know they could be selling it to someone in another country for identification purposes. It's been almost 3 weeks and I'm still waiting on nearly $300 of money that I am owed I have taken everything off since and will not do business on OfferUp ever again there's a bunch of Craigslist leftovers there there's no phone number anywhere on the net to reach anyone at offer up you cannot find a phone number for this company anywhere..
The worst customer service I have ever come across in my life they block you for no reason when you try to get a hold of them they don't exist and now they're charging to put a cars for sale they're greedy bunch of pigs and it deleted in my phone
On or about September 2,2023, I purchased a modem from the website Offerup. When the modem came, it was discovered by Comcast that it was stolen. When I reached out to Offerup, I was told that I did not dispute the claim on time and due to their policy there was nothing that could be done. I even contacted the seller and they read the message with no response. I disputed the information with the bank. Several weeks later, the charge was reversed.
Offerup is a platform for scammers, it's a scammers heaven, the buyer protection is lie, i bought a iPhone through offerup, the guy sends me an empty iPhone box, i placed a claim using the "buyers protection" that the seller sent me an iPhone box without the iPhone, they said the "tracking number shows that item has been delivered", denied the claim, they told me to go file missing items with USPS. How can that be, seller can just scam people like that and you're not protected, because they will use the excuse of "but the tracking number shows its been delivered". My advice to people don't buy anything on offerup, because you are not protected against scammers. They dont even take down posts that ask buyers to pay through apps such as cash app, in which unsuspected buyers can't get their money back. Be careful people.
My messages don't go through for weeks at a time. The first time this happened it was months. I thought everyone selling was just coincidentally flakey but then suddenly weeks of responses would start flooding my inbox, items already sold, of course. I don't need the head ache. Letgo and FB Marketplace work just fine!
I attempted to download, sign up, and place an ad. Every time I attempted to do this my ad was removed. I attempted this several times. After the last one failed, I decided to emIl support for help. They were no help at all. They informed me that my postings were deleted because I was violating the rules by posting the same item multiple times. They then went on to threaten banning me because of my violation! Don't worry, I will never use this platform again. I sold my item on 5miles today! No thanks to Offerup.
Offer up is great as long as the seller to true legit. Awhile back my boyfriends 20" was stolen from in front of a store, I kept telling him to not give up and to keep looking well sure enough almost one year later a 16 year old punk posted up my man's bike. We went and got his bike from this kid, and I reported to offer up that the post was a stolen bike they needed to one remove it, and request bicycle sellers to disclose the serial number to trusted personal with offer up so a check could be ran through bikeindex.com ensuring they are not promoting the sale of stolen goods. It took 2 months before they agreed to remove the post even after I sent them a copy of the police report. Clearly they dont care in sure they would if they themselves unknowingly got caught in possession of stolen property.
So just be aware of what you're buying before you buy it.
Went to purchase an item and I thought he price was great. Some things are just to good to be true. My offer was accepted. And the seller was supposed to ship the item. It's been 5 days and the item was never shipped. I emailed customer service multiple times with poor service response. The site said I would be reimbursed if the item isn't shipped in 3 days. Well! The customer service agent told me they give them another 3 day grace period. (BS). So my money is stuck in limbo. The bank told me the seller tried to pull the money from his bank without shipping the item first. But the money was posted as pending. Like I said. Scammers, Scumbags and thieves sell here. Buyer beware. Very shady site. And customer service is slow to respond and they suck..
Got scammed. Bought a computer, but they pretty much just sold the case without real parts inside. Agreeably, I am a fool who should have checked, but come on, it happens. What I am mostly dismayed with: OfferUp's reaction to the situation was just downright awful. Refuses to take the slightest responsibility or action to ban this user. Very, very disappointing. If you choose to use this app, use it with much precaution.
I sold my old iPhone on this site week before. I still waiting for my money and reply from customer service. Until I sent the product they contacted me through chat and asked me to send it. They sent prepaid shipping address too. Buyers received my product, since then they don't respond to my messages. I have no way contacting them. I think the company took my money. I still trying to get bottom of this. I hope to complain to bbb and federal investigators about this scam. Please connect with me if this happened to you. Don't give up.
Been on this site one time tried to go back and it tells my the staff has been informed of the issue and to describe what I did in the feedback form. I haven't even purchased or responded to an ad only viewed them this site is bull$#*!
Answer: No limit to how many items you can post. To delete the post. Just click on offers. Them there will be a mark as sold button, edit button, then next to that is a button with 3 dots. Click that. Then click archive. Done. No affiliation
The overall reputation of OfferUp is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from poor customer service and account management issues. Users frequently report abrupt account deactivations without clear explanations, along with challenges in resolving disputes and obtaining refunds. Additionally, many customers express frustration with the app's glitches and the prevalence of fraudulent listings. While some users have had positive experiences with transactions, these are overshadowed by the negative sentiments surrounding the platform's reliability and support. The need for improved communication and user-friendly processes is evident to enhance overall customer experience.
