We have internet ordered with Ship To Store twice now to get around the $70 delivery fee. Both times it took over a month (second order is still not filled). This last order I talked to their customer service to see how long it would take, they said it was in stock and quoted me 4-6 days. That was a month ago and it's still in the "In Transit" state. Suggested I should pay an additional $40/yr to become a preferred member to get faster free delivery to home next time. There will not be a next time.
This company is a nightmare to deal with from beginning to end! Took twice the amount of time to receive the items, then they had the wrong item recommended from their website. It has taken me numerous phone calls with a 40 minute wait each time, only to get run around. They want to charge me a restock fee and return shipping for an incorrect item shipped on their part! I am currently on hold now for 32 minutes for the second time today... figured I would write a review while waiting to help the next victim.
This happen several years back. Before they changed their name from Northern Hydraulics.
But it has been a thorn in my side ever since. Have not bought another thing there.
I bought one of their top of the line hot water pressure washers. Their brand. $2200. Total.
The very first time I tried to use it. All the fittings and joints leaked. Water came out every where. I called them, and took it to the repair shop that they told me too. When I went back to get it. They would not stand behind their guarantee. Said it was normal wear and tear. So I had to pay to have it fixed.
I had not even used it yet.
I will never order anything online from here again. Customer service people are rude and the return policy says product can be returned to store. Well when I wanted to return something they wanted me to ship it back pay the shipping plus the 15% restock fee. Therefore I dont get much of a refund.
I ordered a Milwaukee item online on 8/1/2023 to be picked up in store. Northern tool charged my card, then sent me an email an hour and a half later stating they cannot sell this item. I called customer service to ask for a refund. They put me on a 10 minute hold, came back on and said they would have to convert my money paid for it into a gift card! I argued and got nowhere. I want to buy this item elsewhere, but I will be stuck with a gift card to Northern Tool instead! The item is still shown online and available for ordering even though I let them know. SCAM!
I have made two orders from Northern Tool and both have been a failure. On the first order for over $250, they didn't even ship the largest item, that was $200. It took several emails and requests for them to finally ship it. The second order that I made over 2 weeks ago, still says processing. I have emailed them and asked for an update.The reply I received told me to wait several more days for a follow-up, with no additional information. As far as I know I am not getting this item.
Please look online elsewhere if you are planning to buy anything from them. There are much better places to purchase from and better prices out there. Don't make the same mistake(s) I did.
Have a ******* watt generator control board burned up bought the best extended warranty they sell, they had it for repair for 3 months we need it for work. The extended warranty company is useless they just yell at you at what they wont do. The company can say parts on back order for a year if they want and your us a creek with out my ******* watt generator. Avoid this company at all cost on you will lose. Now I have to go buy another ******* watt $3000. 00 generator because Northern tool and the extended warranty department are all bunch of liars.
Purchased a new Honda motor it arrived with a broken engine switch. Not shipping damage as the box was in perfect shape. $9 part but cant get any help from Northern. I was disconnected twice after long phone wait times. Honda will not cover the part either as they said it was freight damage. I will never purchase from Northern again
Terrible company. Bought a wood chipper from NorthernTool through their amazon seller. Chipper arrived rusted like it had been sitting in storage forever. The chipper had many design flaws but would have cost me an arm and a leg to return due to it's size. The V Belt snapped on it, so I ordered a replacement. It's been a month since I ordered the V Belt. I contacted them to see what the ETA would be and was told that it is going to be another 5 months until they have another one available. Half a year? For a V Belt that is standard on your chipper line!? Absolutely unacceptable. They pay for review protection on amazon and don't allow criticism on their site. Over priced company. Do not buy from NorthernTool if you have standards.
This place is horrible. If you want something and it's not in the store don't order it otherwise you will wait months to receive it... poor customer service, all you will get is lies... We are half a step away from a lawsuit with these people. Avoid them if you can go to Grainger supply
This company is awful. I ordered a welding mask for my son. He ended up not needing it. Their returns are weird. They contact the manufacturer and you need to wait for their return request form. I waited a few days. Then they charge you 15 % to "restock". The return forms sent were from Northern Tool. They like to screw you around and take your money.
Northern Tool deserves its lousy ratings. This company raises its prices just prior to their sales so you will still pay retail. Their sale is nothing but expiring coupons to use on future purchases to hook you in... They send a coupon after purchased items have shipped. Or days later... this allows them the opportunity to analyze what products you have been looking at or are saved in your cart. Prior to receiving your expiring coupon, the price on these items will increase a couple of bucks... so when you use your "coupon" you again will pay the retail price or more than the posted price just days earlier. NO WONDER THEY RECEIVE BAD REVIEWS. Crook mentality. Using your computer search agents you... Listed as a "Family business" like that means $#*!. They use a computer to monitor your shopping to maximize profits. POS - lousy company values.
I placed an order via Amazon which indicated freight by a trucking company but did not indicate I would have to remove a 240lb product myself off of the truck. I submitted email request for accommodation with a response to call and pay $85 to have truck with lift deliver it. My follow up email indicated I could not physically remove the item and further requested copy of the verbiage stipulated in the company's response. My response from them was the same (to pay $85 to have delivered). The unprofessional tone of their C/S email had me livid; so I called and waited 25 minutes to hang up because CS left me on hold. I emailed to cancel the order and refused delivery. They "strive" to make the customer happy yet treat customers in this manner. Ridiculous! Hope to prevent this from occurring to another consumer.
Bought and paid for a new tool box on a Sunday said they would hold until I could come with my pickup to get it, showed up following week and they said they sold it and have no more in stock other than the assembled floor model that was scratched, they ordered one and have no clue when it will arrive. Thinking best option is to get my money back and go to harbor freight.
Customer service was rude and inattentive. Instead of cancelling my order in a timely manner they ended up letting it ship. The whole experience demonstrated that customer service is poorly run and reflects poorly on the whole company.
Buy somewhere else... even if it's a few dollars more!
I ordered a $1500 compressor and they had sent it out to the wrong address and no one wants to help they all say different stories every single different representative that you talk to. Terrible place to do business with first and last time ever buying from them
After years of shopping and saying no to their credit card scam, today I had time for it. I applied for their card after hearing their spill for it.
I am a business owner with multiple commercial accounts and 0 outstanding debt except what I incur from monthly operational expenses. A very high credit score as well.
Well, let me say that you can forget about being approved for the card. It's a scam to collect your personal information. Hopefully, a class action suit is in their future.
I had placed 2 orders for the same item, both orders haven't been deliver cause they can not give the package to FedEx or change and use their own UPS service.
This people are a clowns, they have been reported for losses up to $15,000 for their customers. If you can, avoid using this company
They took the amount of my order out TWICE, and now my account is overdrawn. They said its their policy and said they'd put back in my account in two to three days, but they haven't yet! Do yourself a big favor and shop somewhere else.
This company along with Amazon danced their way out of my attempt to return a whole house fan that was delivered to me looking like it was in a train wreck. I will avoid this company at all cost.
I'm not surprised at all at how many bad reviews there are for this company.
Answer: Absolutely horrible, you get the rub around with emails containing same useless info from multiple people, shop elsewhere and save yourself the stress and anxiety
