If you want to meet your neighbors, do it in person and exchange emails. In this age of cyber stalking a site like this shouldn't exist. Nextdoor also wants to commandeer your contact list from your email. Don't make the mistake I did, if you have to join, set up a separate email for this. If you want to sell your junk online, they do offer the opportunity... probably the same level of safety as any other online market. And if you are online shopping, nd will give you tons of popups for stuff listed on their site.
My roommate met Dave in home depot in helping her find the toilet tank set and Dave gave her his card. My roommate and myself set an appointment for Dave to come out today to complete the job and he only charged $45 and did a wonderful job for us and also very professional and friendly person.
I am the lead for my neighborhood and I was cautious about it at first but it has worked well for us and we have been able to communicate quickly and get things done to make our neighborhood safer. As the lead, I have become the "moderator" and it is a skill set I use in my work as well, so perhaps other neighborhoods don't have "leads" with that skill set and problems escalate? The Nextdoor is a great tool, but like anything else, it can be misused in the hands of a person who wants to be a bully or gets satisfaction from the platform it gives him or her. I recommend the site and can only say good things about the results from my experience.
I've seen how this private network unites neighborhoods, spreads news of events in communities and allows local sales by residents who might be hesitant to use broader-based programs.
In Penn Hills, PA, I was a lead who created our community group and now in Delaware I'm a member. The program proved very helpful when we moved here by recommending service providers and allowed us to join in local activites.
Completely biased towards the leftist agenda. If you disagree with a view point that is pushed by the mainstream media you will be banned. If you are not banned you will be attacked by leftist chihuahua's. Very toxic environment with a lot of hate towards God, Country, and Family. Waste of time!
It's a good way to be informed on what's going on within your immediate area - can keep you safer. Also, a great way to sell items within your close area - craigslist can be in a very wide area and not as safe for the seller
Overall I enjoy Nextdoor. I like reading what's going on in my neighborhood. I also like participating in neighborhood events like charitable donations, garage sales, etc. I have sold something once on the site and that worked out well too.
Nextdoor is a just a trick to sucker people into a wesbite so nextdoor can sell ads and other services to companies that want to reach those users, and mine the data.
There is no customer service to help you with disputes over neighborhood boundaries, and nextdoor does nothing to ensure that the "leads" of certain neighborhoods are actually a true representative of that neighborhood.
Some neighborhoods on nextdoor are segregated by racial lines as well.
It's terrible. If you use it you're a fool.
It nice to have the knowledge in your hand of what is going on in your neighborhood. I personally find that convenient and extremely helpful when it comes to the safety and security of my family and my neighbors.
I called out a fake dependent wife who was scamming to get free furniture when her husband hadn't even left for bootcamp or even became active military. I was harassed by others in the community for calling her out and then my account was limited.
When I explained the situation I am still blocked from posting. Basically they stole my information and they allow people to scam freely on the site.
Only good thing about this site is that you can get info not available on the news. If there are gun shots people will post about it. They are quickly removed, but if you look right away then you will know what is going on.
This site is worthless and just serves as a place for old folks to fight. If you are young you will not like this site this is for the elderly only. This is only for crabby old people. If you are a vibrant older person this is not for you use a better site. These nasty old people will just bring you down.
I know what time Nextdoor publishes it newsletter each day so I can check it for updates. I love the neighbor news as well as market postings. It's a good resource for recommendations as well as references. I read it daily!
They require an address and phone to post a 'found dog.' I get the phone part but my address has nothing to do with the dog. Still, I tried posting but the site wouldn't take my phone number. The reps said to send private information -a utility bill, etc- something recent to show where I live, which has nothing to do with the dog. I don't have a recent bill and that's unnecessary personal information. Why are they asking for it: (a) they're going to sell it, or (b) there's no logical reason behind the request, they just want it, period. The reps send form letters in Emails.
If I could give NextDoor a 0, I would. I deactivated my account to take a break. I can't reactivate because it is impossible. The site says it will send a code to reactivate. The code comes and it instantly says, "the code has expired" when I try to put in the code. I tried several other ways - no good. There is not an email or number to ask a simple question or get help. How impersonal for what is touted as a "community" app. I am so frustrated. It should not be that way - shame on NextDoor for running such an unprofessional, impersonal, unkind business. How much would it really cost to have someone answer emails or answer a phone?
BULLIES. That's a great term for this forum. I posted about my services in its correct category as well as in general. Some lead had a conniption fit about a caregiving post in general? For real? So then they put me in "read-only" without notification nor the ability to defend my position. After reporting a problem. It took 2 months to tell me THEY did it. Not to mention they sell your info.
Before enrolling check the t&cs it's scarry what info they are collecting from you also sent wife a postcard with her email address with middle part of name replaced with stars but it was obvious to anyone her full name was adjaicient as the addressee. How secure is that. From a company highlighting itself as secure!
App is designed to connect neighbors, on the same time help promote businesses, but there is a catch... if you had a bad experience with a business and you speak about it, they will deactivate your account!
That being said, I think they charge businesses fee, and in order to keep them in app operating, imagine, they will punish you as a costumer if you tell that business is bad business... stick to FB groups ppl.
The Nextdoor site has given us a Very Good way to find reliable home repair people/businesses and a way to stay in touch with local 'happenings'. We were able to locate a VERY good, local plumber and carpenter. This has also served as a good local way to alert close neighbors to such things as lost pets, suspicious area activity, and other items of local interest.
I have had comments removed that were obvious truth. I've persisted and rewrote comments and added links to show members the truth. Now I have been suspended. I only know I'm suspended because it says so when I try to log on. They never told me I was suspended or what I was suspended for.
Write anything negative about Biden and get banned for, get this, " discrimination ". Post anything negative about Trump and watch your post get 100's comments full of hate, racism and threats against fellow Americans from leftist thugs backed by the leftist moderation team.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Check out https://wiggio.com or www.neighborhoodlink.com
Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
