I was pretty happy with it until I stopped getting notifications. Have no idea why I am no longer alerted to new topics on the site.
This app has been very helpful in learning more about my new community. It has helped me learn where I can find the best service providers
I was able to obtain something i needed for craft storage and it was a simple process, quick, and i love the product i purchased. We have since moved and no longer have access to Nextdoor, which is a shame, because it's a good concept!
I enjoy Nextdoor for the most part. There are a few members that always seem to be involved in everything. I have read very long posts from one person who is a lead. She is very long winded and says many inappropriate things. She often seems confused and repeats herself about things. She calls people not really nice names. Everybody had the right to express themselves, but this is a neighborhood sight and people should be careful what they say and how they say it. This is not FB and should not be treated as such. I've seen many positive areas and have been able to get help that I needed from other members. I think Nextdoor is a positive thing. I hope in the future people will use it as intended and not their personal platform to constantly express their thoughts and views.
The site, at least to me, does not seem user friendly. I am a "snowbird" and have trouble with having two accounts, in the two different states in which I reside. I have given up several times trying.
This app is good for getting to know your neighborhood, your neighbors that you never meet, and activities in your area.
You hear about things that you would not normally hear about in the news. Such a small area crime sprees, or things that should not be happening in your neighborhood in the first place.
Little things like neighborhood yard sales that you missed the sign as you're driving down the street, about missing pets like the one using your front yard for facility.
About reckless drivers like the car parked in front of your house.
You hear about police activity in your area, when they are trying to reach out and getting to know the neighbors.
About public meetings for your area and met with Representatives.
Finding out that one of your neighbors has something for sale that you've been looking for for a long time and having a hard time finding.
You hear about recommended lawn care specialist, electricians, plumbers, contractors from all trades in your area without the need I'm searching through the internet or yellow pages wondering who "might" be reliable.
In all sense it helps keeping a roof over your head more user-friendly.
Next Door offers a way to contact neighbors about day to day needs, advice and assistance. It's Great!
I like it when we can build community and help each other as good neighbors. I don't like critics, nasty people, etc. who sometimes spout off. But most of the time, I've enjoyed it and am thankful for it.
Over all I do think Nextdoor is a valuable and useful app. I do have trouble from time to time maneuvering through the app.
Like to stay informed! Up to date crime notices. Great Restruant reviews. Would like to see monthly crime reports in the area!
Stay informed about library events, weather alerts, Harris County updates, neighbor concerns, garage sales, neighbor suggestions for restaurants, lawn care, child care, etc. as well as feedback on products and services good or bad encounters very helpful!
Bringing people together, watching after our children especially our four legged ones. Bringing a level of trust that makes the old neighborhood watch a thing of the past. So much more I would be here all night.
I found that for about 6 months maybe from last fall through winter, I was not receiving any emails from Nextdoor. I checked my settings and everything looked fine. I searched for a contact to help resolve the issue, but found none. Starting in maybe March, I receive multiple emails in a day.
I enjoy keeping up with the news and information from my neighbors. The recommendations for services that we might need and the things that are for sale in the neighborhood as well as garage sales. I also am glad for the updates from the Constables working in our area, what they are doing and the arrests made so we know what they are doing to keep us safe.
I enjoy a lot of the posts people make. Most of them don't have a lot to do with me because I am retired. I have sold several items easily on Next Door.
I think the New Smyrna Next Door badly needs moderators. We have a few people that abuse the intention of the site. Thomas Akin and Lisa Martin seem to be very level-headed and community minded folks if you need any nominations.
Nextdoor is a very helpful neighborhood news and local business referral source. I found it to be very useful and informative.
Keeps me informed of neighborhood activities and concerns.
I don't like that I have to sign in EVERY time I open an email. I never had to do that before. I don't know what changed.
And I don't like the advertisements ahead of the messages on the "daily" email.
Answer: The negative reviews are honest reactions to being duped into sharing too much personal information (that Nextdoor now owns and will NEVER delete and will continue to sell to advertisers until your dying day) to join a site that seems friendly on the surface, but which does NOTHING to protect users. I was bullied by a convicted murderer, who is a Lead in my neighborhood--and I was banned from the site for complaining. Leads are nothing more than early adopters of the site who have been assigned power over other users so that Nextdoor does not have to police it's own site. In short: No. The negative reviews are not wrong. Heed them! I wish I had known before it was too late!
Answer: Forget about nextdoor and leads. Get a life, a real one. Don't waste your time with toxic online communities that tend to get the worst out of people. My advise is run away while you still have some dignity left.
Answer: Kay is right. That is their policy. However, don't expect them to hold to it. We have leads unfairly removing only some people's comments and Nextdoor does nothing about it. Best bet, dump nextdoor.
Answer: Neighborhood. Rocks is in development. Another 6 months.
Answer: Truth is like oil and water. As long as the scam artist have enough venture capital (other people's money) they will continue to shake the bottle leaving it a murky view obscuring the truth. Run out of cash, they'll be exposed for the incompetent boobs they are and the top dogs will clear out their bank accounts and move on to the next scam. One look at their "leading edge tech" pulled right out of the 1980's is proof enough they will die in the tar pits just like the fellow dinosaurs. Want a state of the art app? Answer: Dallas, SiteJabber rates it at 16%. It would surely rate lower if there weren't so many fake positive reviews. Folks review Nextdoor either 1 or 5. The fives read like ads about Nextdoor's features and potential. The ones are written by real people and give accounts of how awful their experiences were.
Answer: Several other reviewers on this site have had the same thing happen to them. We have been fully banned from nextdoor (beyond just "suspension"), but they keep our profiles, and sometimes our names still appear in the neighbor registry. They refuse to remove us fully, I suppose, in an attempt to misrepresent our endorsement and participation there. It's clearly unethical, but their TOS states that they can do this, as any nd apologist will point out.
Answer: Here's a tidy answer from corporate... Hi Colleen, Thanks for getting back to me. Our Community Guidelines prohibit posting about Lead activity on the main newsfeed. If your Leads are inactivate and youre concerned about moderation in your neighborhood, you should reach out directly to Nextdoor Support. If you have any specific concerns I can help you with at this time, please let me know. Best, Amanda Nextdoor However, the minute you alert corporate to issues with leads in your community you'll find your account terminated. They are very protective of the information surrounding who really is controlling the activities on the boards. Most people in my community are under the misguided impression that corporate is in control. They don't even consider it is their neighbor who sits in judgement.
Answer: Nextdoor wants your full legal name, house number and address and your email address that they link all together. As an added bonus... They have a little map that you can click on. That way if, OMG, you offend someone the little map leads them straight to your house. Run, do not walk, away from this site. No good comes from Nextdoor.
Answer: Your name and address will be known to everyone who uses the NextDoor application and website. I don't suggest using it. I recently discovered that low income apartments in ghetto areas might be able to use the application to do crime. Car theft, asaaults, kidnapping and just about everything else under the sun.
When neighbors start talking, good things happen.
