There are too many BETTER cruise lines to spend my money on. Horrible service, subpar food on the Gem. The only good thing was the entertainment. Complained to customer service and was told 'sorry you feel that way', they clearly have no interest in improving.
Canceled a cruise because of medical issues, got refunded from the trip insurance company promptly, however Norwegian has yet to refund their share of the money they originally said the were liable for, every time we call it's another run around
Changed the destination minutes before boarding. Couldn't get off the ship because it docked late at night only for a few hours. Closed the kid's club that night too. My children weren't "allowed to charge to my account." But we got turned around at the door leaving and weren't allowed off the ship until I paid the charges on my "children's account" $2,200.
Food was terrible. Waited 30 minutes for room service who never answered the phone.
At home I noticed my credit card was charged thousands of dollars more than my invoice stated.
Pool was closed 1 out of the only 2 decent weather days while at sea.
Not clean at all! No one was disinfecting the common areas where thousands of people touched while on the ship. Gross! Many people including my family got sick before our trip was over.
I filed a complaint while still on the cruise. Followed up with a formal written complain online. And have not had a response.
I got back from bridal party getaway, I didn't think I would like being on a cruise ship even though it seemed like they had a lot of offer. I was way off, I love it! It was so much fun! They food was great and we could eat anytime we wanted, we did as many of the shore excursions as we could. We signed up early for most but we did do a couple on a wimp and we were lucky we got to do them, since they fill up fast. My bf and I shared a room and it was plenty big for us. I'm already planning another cruise for a Thanksgiving getaway. If you have try cruising, give it a go, you might just be surprised, like I was.
I enjoyed the fresh pineapple, dried fruits, and wide array of foreign dishes that were prepared in the buffet, but some of the drinks were pre-made so they weren't as fresh. In certain restaurants, you had to pay an additional $17, even if you pre-paid.
We're gold members, been cruising for 20+ years, and recommend NCL because the on-board experiences have been consistently... amazing. Some of our best vacations have been with NCL. However when NCL offers discounts, some of the restrictions are not visible on the website. Understand that once you've paid for your cruise, there will be an end to customer service while on land--long wait times and formulaic responses await you. The marketing uses "bait and switch" tactics so be forewarned about booking. We're not canceling our cruises this year but caution others when booking.
We booked a cruise with NCL, also paid for them to book our flights, and paid for transport to and from the airport to ship. Our paperwork from NCL stated to fly from American Airlines. When in reality the airlines subcontracted it out to another airline.5 miles away! Total screw-up on NCL end! Cruse was ok, though the hot tub was only 98 degrees.
We recently retired and took our first cruise earlier this year with NCL. We enjoyed cruising and plan on many more.
We are currently booked on a Norwegian cruise in January 2024 with a promo that includes free airfare for the second guest. However, the flight departure times that Norwegian booked for us are horrible, and after talking to several NCL cruise consultants, as well as their VP of Guest Services, they refused to change our flights even though there are many available flights departing at much better times. We're senior citizens and live 2 hours from the airport, and they have us departing at 6am. On the return, they booked us on a flight that arrives just before midnight even though we'll be disembarking the ship early in the morning. So we'll need to hang around the airport for 12 hours!
We're traveling with others who are booked on much better flights. Norwegian's inflexibility may change our mind about cruising with Norwegian again.
Interactive TV is the best I've been associated (NCL's Getaway & Bliss)(A+). Relaxed dress saves us half of suitcase filled with formal wear.(A) If you have to wear a dress coat it is not a vacation. NCL took the closets out of the hall way, where there already a bathroom door and an your room door (b+). Now you can operate your safe while sitting on the bed (A+). Private Island could take some lessons from MSC which has shuttle service around the entire island and staff that lives on the island (C-). Guest Services on the Getaway was a joke. Line 20 and 30 people deep with NCL personnel roaming and asking what the problem was only to say you need to talk to a guest service employee (D-). I used NCLs air transportation twice and I could not match their prices looking on line. (B+) Pay for restaurants were very good and 3 of them came with my cruise package. (A). Boarding and getting off were fast but busses to carry passengers to the airport were not available (Lisbon) (B-). Room service was good as far as cleaning bur don't order room service for drinks or food unless you have a big pocket book (B-). Overall it was a fun trip, just some areas appeared to be understaffed. Alan & Sylvia Hamre
I had a severe allergic reaction, Anaphylaxis with significant airway swelling. It came to the sun of $4,800. There is NO phone telephone or chat service for insurance claims with the insurance purchased through NCL. There is no way to reach NCL to get the medical costs itemized except email. It's been 2 months with no response from either. In the meantime I have a huge bill that should be "easily resolved " when I purchased the insurance.
Worst customer service I have EVER seen. We had issues with a flight and our personal cruise consultant never returned emails or phone calls. Asked for a supervisor to call me and that never happened either. We are a group of 22,14 have never cruised before and do not want to cruise norwegian in the future. We will definately choosing a different cruise line for our next trip.
After travelling all the way from Australia, I was denied entry on the boat as they claimed did not have a valid visa.
This is despite having a letter from the Canadian embassy to say I have been cleared and having travelled all the way from Australia to Seattle with no problems.
I was not the only one who was turned away and there was even a whole family from Brazil who were sent home.
We discussed our situation and we found that we were all told by staff of the Norwegian Guest relations we would have no problems if we did not get off the ship in Canada,.
I had to spend a week on my own expense in US waiting for my family to return.
The guest relations department were no help all told me to read the fine print on my booking form.
I would never travel on this cruise liner ever again-they are criminals and I would be happy to start a class action suit against them if other have found themselves in the same position
Just did a booking. There are still issues with Covid restrictions and I had to cancel my booking. Though the website advertise no more restrictions...
Couldn't get a refund or even cruise credit for another trip...
Feeling ripped off...
The customer service is horrific to say the least. We have made more than a dozen phone calls for different reasons, and every one of the service people had no clew what they were doing or talking about. They even told me that my husband has a hotel room in London but I didn't, which makes zero sense. Told me there was nothing they could or would do to help. NCL is the ones who made all the arrangements for us. Their error, not mine. I haven't gone on the cruise yet, but I know I'll never ever book them again or recommend them to anyone.
NCL is clearly cutting costs. Like other reviewers, customer service was not good. There were no experienced workers and they all seemed overworked. From onboarding to disembarking, their process for moving people was silly. Food was not good, two in our party got food poisoning. Reservations for on-the-boat activities were all taken before we set sail. We spent only three hours in two of four port stops and spent way too much time on the boat. I do not recommend.
I am a VIP member for NCL. Very frustrated with these so-called deals they are offering. The black Friday deal states second guest is free. Nope, the prices prior to this offer were 50%off and they are still 50% off. No deal here. Nothing changed! Free unlimited bar. Not really, it will cost you $437 per person in gratuity fees, whether you want it or not. If you don't want this so-called deal, well that is not an option. When you typically step foot onto the ship, they have deals for these bar packages and are usually never over $500-$700 per person with gratuity fees. Free excursions are really $50 off. If you can find an excursion for under $50, well then, yes it is free. Good luck with that! I did not even ask about the airfare, because everything else was so false advertising and not what they say it is. I am sure that there are catches with every part of this so-called SALE/DEAL!
Fraudulent information- Free dinnerand drinks- not free- you pay more in tips than you will ever drink. Free or 99.00 travel to/from- they put us in Montreal and not Quebec City- so it will either cost of 200 to use their transfer or we find our way 3 hours. The agent suggest Uber- are you kidding? Trying to get help- hours on hold and never answered. Called corp and called agents- no one can help. Call their travel department 6 times- busy, then get them and sit on hold now 1.5 hours. Crooks, fraud
We just had to cancel our cruise because my wife got sick we thought we were covered with there insurance that we paid 200.00 for we were told it didn't cover cancellation they didn't even offer to do anything so be careful what you book with then will not book with them again
We just got back from an Alaskan cruise on the Bliss and will never cruise Norwegian again. There was no time to enjoy the ports whose visits ranged from 3.5 to 7 hours--if you could get off the ship on time. We booked this cruise because it had the longest visit in Victoria only to have it change to 1.5 hour stumbling around in a dark garden at 9:30 at night. We saw no animals, no stars, a glacier from miles away and a whole lot of the inside of our cabin. We booked this cruise 4 times because of Covid and each time we paid more and got less. You are not allowed to bring any drinks on board including water and soft drinks. We were charged $8.40 for a can of diet Pepsi. They also lock down the internet unless you pay $39.99/day. We keep hearing about how friends had a wonderful time on their Alaskan cruise. None of them sailed Norwegian.
Well yes NCL has a never ending job of trying to suck every dollar out of your pocket, but for those of you thinking of booking the Encore I suggest you view the ship from the top. A full 5/8 of available deck space is reserved for The Elite Haven residents. From the 2 round radar domes to the water slides is for the other 3500 guests. Maybe 100 loungers and 150 chairs. Don't take my word for it research...Sad really. Never sail the Encore again. NCL is on the bottom of my choices.
Answer: Legit, I did a 16-day cruise with them and enjoyed myself.
Answer: The only one that had a cruise in my time frame. I only had Christmas break for the time to do it.
Answer: I understand that the shore excursion credit is for $ 50.00 and for only one time use.
