I spent over 1200$ on an order for my sons birthday. On one item, they overcharged me by 100$. It was literally out of nowhere. My receipt was emailed and shows price of item at 205$. Then 16$ tax. Then the total goes to 317$... I'll never use them again. Filing a dispute with bank
I have yet to talk to a customer service rep over the phone that is not stoned. They could care less about their customers and are just trying to log minutes while doing putting in the least amount of effort. If you can't order it online, DON'T trust that these guys can handle your request over the phone.
I've bought tons of stuff from "musicians friend" over the years. They've always beat everyone else on price. Rarely is an item not in stock. Orders ship promptly and free of charge. If there ever was a problem, it was swiftly and easily rectified. I can't understand all the lousy reviews because they've always been a positive experience for me.
The only negative is that recently the website does not cooperate with my iPhone. Maybe my browser is out of date or something.
Purchased a Epiphone Les Paul elec guitar and small amp. Electric is not for me. Confirmed I'm an acoustic gal. So, requested to return products. Took to UPS & it cost over $100.00 to return to MF. This is unbelievable to me. I'm sure MF receives discounts from their carriers UPS/FedEx. Why don't you extend something to your customers? NEVER AGAIN! You just lost a customer.
I am a college student in desperate need of musical items at a decent price. Musician's Friend sends out coupons and there was a 20% coupon that I had just seen, however it expired only a day ago. I called the main number and the site's wonderful representative Ashley Foard picked up. I explained to her my situation and she kindly and patiently helped get me my discount. I ordered a keyboard and other accessories to go along with it, constantly asking questions to make sure the products and payment were correct. I successfully ordered my products and she offered to call when they arrive to make sure everything was in good condition. I was very fortunate to have spoken with Ashley and I am very happy with my purchase.
Made a credit purchase of $3000 and it takes two plus days to verify my credit, I chat with customer service reps and they promise order shipping to no avail. I chat again the next day and this guy was a smart A**. Sweetwater is by far a better place to order over the web they actually call you and talk to you about your order and if there's a problem let you know. Musicians friend is incredibly slow, next time I will not bother, the only reason I didn't order Sweetwater is they didn't have the instrument I needed in stock. I'll see how soon my order arrives and the condition, I would not be surprised if some a** doesn't sabotage. I'll post another review after I receive my order that is if I ever do!
I have spent thousands of dollars ordering from them because over a decade ago they would always give me the best deal I could find... by far! Now they are affiliated with every other music site so you can't haggle, every site just gives you the same deal a different way. Ex- full price plus a case that costs $20, other site says full price with a warranty that costs $20, other site says they will give you $20 dollars off. More of a choose your poison attitude now rather than trying to get you the best deal so they can be the one to make the sell.
I have had a good relationship with musicians friend. Over the years I have spent over eleven thousand dollars there. Here recently I ordered a Fender aerodyne bass along with other merchandise. Everything was in stock and ready to ship. They shipped out all the other merchandise except for the Fender areodyne bass. I called multiple times trying to find out why it Had not shipped. Finally I got a knowledgeable sales person. Turns out it was at Guitar Center and was an open box guitar. I was upset so I canceled the order. I then called another music store sweetwater and ordered my Fender bass. That was the only time I have ever had trouble with musicians friend but they messed up bad! Hopefully this will not happen again!
I bought a Martin guitar a few months ago for $1726. Though the guitar is great - Musician's Friend is NOT great. I should have had $130 in Reward money to spend there - I never got it. After 5 calls over a month to their customer service - with each one politely assuring me the money would be in my account - it never happened. Bottom line: I don't like being lied to.
As has been said by many before, they sell used products as new. Only order with the expectation that the "new" guitar you're buying is one that was returned to a Guitar Center at some point. My "new" guitar was shipped in bubble wrap with dirty strings and finger prints all over the body.
I attempted a return with Benny over the phone. He was laughably horrible and extremely unprofessional. I was sent the wrong item and when I attempted to start the return process, I was talked down to by Benny. I was told from Benny that I should have gone into another company's music store to verify the item size before ordering through Musicians Friend. Benny also threatened to erase the conversation because he did not like that I kept asking to speak to his supervisor. Benny refused to pass me on to his manager. Benny also said he would have refunded my shipping had I been more agreeable but decided not to because of my tone. Do yourself a favor and NEVER SHOP AT MUSICIANS FRIEND. They are not any kind of friend to musicians. Hopefully they go out of business soon.
Worst customer service. Website sucks. Consistent harassments from salesmen. Just horrible. There are tons of reputable places to by your gear. I promise you. You will regret shopping here. You have been warned!

Stay far away! First they said they give military discounts when I tried using the code they gave me it didn't work. Contacted customer support and eventually gear for a birthday present. Confirmed that the product would arrive in time before placing the order. Never got a order update and after a day finally called their "customer support" only to be told the order was on hold for some reason. Will never do business with this company again. Horrible.
They literally call you and send you emails about every single thing you look at or add to your cart. I finally had to tell the to just straight up $#*! off after 5 calls and 3 emails in 48 hours. When I finally did make a purchase, the "in stock and ready to ship" items took over two weeks to finally leave their warehouse. It's such a shame because I grew up ordering from this company with many great experiences but ever since being bought out by Guitar Center, it's absolutely horrid. Buy from your local shop instead.
I've purchased numerous high end items (guitars, amps, recording studios etc...) in my track orders tab in the app it only showed one amp I bought in 2008 and none others. I called customer service to see if i can check past orders and all he said was huh? I guess you cant. That's strange. Is there anything else I can help you with? I'll just buy from sweetwater or somewhere else from now on.
Very unhappy with there service! They clearly took my payment for merchandise they did not even carry. I had to call them to find this out nearly a week later. Meanwhile, It was a x-mas gift that I could have purchased from another place, but now too late. They simply do not carry this item regardless of what the web site says. They informed me that this item is indefinitely not stocked. Amazon has fulfillment policies and Musicians Friend does not. Go through Amazon! Good return policy and guarantee fulfillment.
This company is simply the worst. They have apparently confused the meaning of "hassle free" returns that they tout. Instead, they have a "hassle only" customer service line. Will never order anything from them again. If you need musical equipment, buy it through Amazon - you'll be better off.
So never buying from this $#*!ty company again,I ordered a used cymbal and it had a huge crack in it not isted as such and why sell broken instruments along with other gear it should be in a separate section clearly marked damaged goods. I reported this to the better business bureau and they lost a great customer. $#*! you musicians non friend.
So I got a set of Seymour Duncan pickups only to find the neck pickup was bad (no reading across the south coil). Ok I returned them but they sent me the same ones back? The plastic box has identical scuff marks and its even more smashed up this time. Bad neck pickup, no reading on the south coil. Hmm I'll eat the loss this time but will not do business with MF again. It's a shame too because I've been a customer since 2009.
Service/Delivery Comments - Garbage! The container is all smashed up because it was put in a bag not a box. A middle school soccer team only using their feet could have gotten it to me in better condition.
After purchasing a software (which they advertise as 'delivered within a few hours into your mailbox'), I had to wait 7(!) days to get a mail, in which they just told me that they cancelled my purchase because of insufficent billing information. So to solve this I contact their customer service via chat and the 'expert' lady disconnects after a few questions because she didn't want to answer them. (Proof in attachment) Never buying anything from them ever again.
Answer: It s a poor ordering system. It tends to do that a lot.
Answer: Because they dont care at all. The people on the phone are nice IF you can get a hold of them. Id go to AMS or zz sounds instead or sweetwater
Answer: One of the worst places to do business. I recommend Sweetwater, Zzounds, or Sam Ash.
Answer: You should be concerned that Musicians Friend has zero integrity. Try Sweetwater, or Zzounds.
Answer: Save yourself from the stress and aggravation go to Sweetwater.
