After purchasing a software (which they advertise as 'delivered within a few hours into your mailbox'), I had to wait 7(!) days to get a mail, in which they just told me that they cancelled my purchase because of insufficent billing information. So to solve this I contact their customer service via chat and the 'expert' lady disconnects after a few questions because she didn't want to answer them. (Proof in attachment) Never buying anything from them ever again.

Sent me a 500 dollar acoustic advertised as brand new. When it arrived from there dump in the Midwest the build sheet was from 4 years ago. Of course the guitar and strings were old and the wood was dried out. The action was high and unplayable.
This is one shady dishonest unethical company. Clearly they have no shortage of unhappy customers they have turned off.
They also let your reward points expire shortly after you earn them with NO notice. Nowhere is this written on the order form nor do the shady con artist let you know they will expire.
At times when you call customer service you will be transferred to a call center in some far off country where you can barely understand the agent speaking to you. Other times the cowards in the midwest will answer the phone themselves.
Save your time and money this place is BAD NEWS
I bought an Explorer style case from musicians friend it was poorly packaged and had some damage on it that I was willing to overlook for a decent price reduction but the best thing they would do is 10 bucks so now I'm paying for essentially a used item thats damaged, and payed damn near full price... so I going to leave them a bad review... they absolutely refuse to do anything else and the only way you can get them to answer your emails is to insult them so they're basically losers go somewhere else save your time energy and money... I could have got a used Explorer style case for 50 bucks
I'm trying to get a rewards point issue fixed and after wasting more than an hour with them they finally tell me to call Synchrony Bank to fix that. 3 different reps, 3 different answers. There is too much competition out there to be treating people poorly. I'll be visiting their competition for my future purchases.
Have used MF for years, they used to be the top dog for music purchases. Recently their shipping times are worse than competitors, their return policy for instruments is absurd, you lose the cost of shipping from your refund and you have to pay to ship it back. So basically you cannot test an item, where as with other competitors it is a FULL refund. Trying to return items is also horrible, I have waiting over 20 mins on the phone just to talk to someone and you're lucky if the chat ever responds. Ive sometimes waited over 35 mins for an answer. Just buy it from ZZounds or amazon.
I have ordered successfully from Musicians Friend for a few years now. So when my son wanted a new Ibanez guitar, I trusted no one but them to supply. Imagine my shock and disappointment when we received a so-called "open box" used guitar that I did not order, and also was damaged- very noticeably! Never again.
They are my go to place for all my odds and ends like cable, pickups, or adapters. I have bought from stomp boxes, bulk guitar picks, to various strings through them. I have never been disappointed in any way, and have never had to use customer service, because everything is on time and correct when delivered. This is very important to me, because I live at the edge of a wilderness area, and "at the end of the road". The nearest place to buy any musical gear or parts is over 200 miles away, that`s one way... So delivery to my door is very important.
I've spent thousands of dollars over the 18 months with them. A few of the items had issues that I fixed myself and didn't complain. Placed a small order and when it arrived, one of the items was missing. Called customer service. They said they'd have to do an "investigation" that would take several days and if I wanted the strings sooner than that, they'd have to charge me again. The item in question costs $7. My "friends" don't treat me like a thief. I checked out their employee satisfaction as well. Apparently they frequently treat their employees like dirt as well. More than one of their stories included the assertion that they value sales above customer service. Makes sense that they just filed for bankruptcy a second time. They're never going to make it if they keep treating everyone like dirt. Recipe for disaster. Thanks for letting me vent.
Reserved an Item 2 months in advance. But got put on another month long delay. Was told that it was a waiting list and nothing is reserved. Told company to stop listing items as reservations, got patronized for it.

It is impossible to get in touch with anyone at this company to discuss anything order related, yet I constantly get emails for their sales promos saying to call or email. Don't waste your time, with these guys!
I was charged on my card and items were shipped after six months without being told… Very shady business practices they were zero help it will take me two to three weeks to get my money back when I need it now!
I stopped buying from Musician's Friend 2 years ago and went to American music and Sweetwater. Never had an issue with either one of them. Musician's Friend sucks! Orders are never on time and the only think they have to say is sorry. Sorry is the key word here at I will never deal with these butt heads or Guitar Center again! They are the same company for those who don't know it as well as music and arts
Ordered a $70 guitar case that is too large for my guitar. Called and received a Return Authorization. Problem is... shipping it back to MF would've cost me over $60! Seriously. UPS, FedEx, and US Post Office said the size of the box makes the shipping cost so high. Bottom line: I'm stuck with a guitar case that I can't use and don't want! Next time will order a guitar case from Amazon Prime.
Stay away from this site if you want what you ordered when it's supposed to be there. I placed an order on a Tuesday and paid a lot for expedited shipping and not only have my items not shipped yet (Thursday) but they are supposed to be here tomorrow. Every time I call I get different answers about what has shipped and when it will be here and only by the fourth person did I get some sort of data dump invoice which is incredibly hard to read. If you need time sensitive gear don't go to musicians friend. If you need gear at all, try every other site and your local stores, pay extra before you go to musicians friend.
I ordered a pair of $1,000 Speakers on 9/16 with an estimated ship date of 10/16. Since then my ship date has changed around 15 times! (No exaggeration) At first it flip flopped from 11/16 and back. 5 days ago they sent me an email saying it would ship in 30 days making the ship date 11/28 and just a few days after they increased the ship date by 6 days! I track my package ship date everyday and it continues to increase by one day everyday that I check. As of today the ship date is 12/7 and the customer service email will no longer return my questions. ****I would avoid purchasing anything with this company as they advertise false ship dates****
If these people had the option of zero, that's what they'd get from me. I ordered a guitar and amp system a month ago. I received the head but nothing else. I checked the tracking number, and it said it doesn't exist. I tried calling every single contact number available, and nothing. I've spend hours on this. No response from the chat section either. Ordered a Player Strat buttercream New. Was told none in stock. Put on waiting at least 1 1:2 months All of a sudden I get notice of shipment I receive a double boxed player strat from some music store out west outside box is a Martin guitar box inside box was a Squier box with a label saying pink affinity. Open the boxes, there's a player strat buttercream in there with a cracked head stock. What a joke. I will never deal with this company again. Only good thing was I got my money back. They wanted to know if I was going to reorder. NOT! Only reason one star for money back.
If it's sounds too good to be true... Unfortunately, I fell for one of their "Black Friday" deals for a ukulele. Great deal, price knocked down, was going to be a Christmas present for my daughter. Item was then on back-order, would supposedly receive it beginning of January. So I told my daughter she would be getting a late present. Well, today I called to check on it, and they told me the order had been cancelled "by the system". They are no longer on good terms with the ukulele manufacturer and there are no ukulele's (BTW--this was an expensive acoustic electric model). They never once thought to notify me--although they said they did---it was a flat out lie. I kept every single email from that company including all their sale and promotion emails--and there was no email from them with a cancellation. I asked if they could help me out, flat out "no!" Unbelievable. So now I am left with nothing. Going to deal with the credit card company now...
Grandfather ordered my son a guitar from this place. He calls cause guitar is cutting out when plugged into amp. My son received it for Christmas 2018 it is now February 11 2019. They said It's out of warranty seriously I get more than a 30 day warranty on a 30$ coffee pot. You guys suck thanks for nothing. Won't even buy a guitar pick from you now. I recommend Guitar Center or Sweetwater. Have a nice day.
