I have to say I do love ordering from ModCloth. They have tons of cute things. Since the sizing is inconsistent, I frequently order two sizes and send one back. I think they should offer a break on the return shipping for this reason. My main gripe though is that once in a blue moon they send me a coupon (despite spending easily over $100 a month). When my order went through, the discount didn't apply to the total. When I noticed while looking at my statement, they would not apply the discount, nor did they offer me another discount, saying, too bad it's expired. LAME. That is totally LAME customer service. Treat your customers well, especially long time, return customers who like to shop. If you don't, you lose them.
Ordered new swimwear and paid almost $35 for expedited shipping to ensure they arrived before I went on holiday. Unfortunately, the useless staff at Modcloth didn't dispatch the item for 3 days, which now means the order will not arrive in time and I've just wasted $200. When I queried why, they could not reasonably explain why it takes 3 days to ship international orders when they can ship US orders the same day. Worst shopping experience ever. I won't be wasting my time and money with them again.
I bought a dress from this company several years ago and was quite pleased. I recently purchased 4 tops and a pair of shoes. The tops were all size L. I take a M or L. They were way too small especially in the bust. Cheaply made. Not cut right. Made in China. The shoes were so cute but I would rather have wooden shoes. They had no give. No arch at all. Felt like starched cardboard. The styles are unique but are probably made by child labor. Never again unless they can prove some sort of quality to their clothing.
When I would order from ModCloth in the past it was always a wonderful experience but the quality of the products they sell has suffered tremendously, the products are cheaply made and marked up WAY too much for what you're getting. The dress sizes are incredibly inaccurate, clothing that is purported to be for plus sized women is absolutely inaccurate and for that reason I am having to return three items from their online store. Absolutely NO allowance for large chested women in their dresses, you used to be able to leave reviews on their site about this but I suppose they were getting too many poor/negative reviews. Save your money and spend it on quality clothing from reputable brands and save yourself the disappointment of their misleading marketing. There's no worse feeling in the world than being excited you found something beautiful for your body only to have your confidence shaken by the misrepresentation of the company's "size charts". It's a shame.
Hi, Raelynn. Thank you for your honest feedback. I apologize for any disappointment regarding sizing. Please rest assured that we remain committed, as we always have, to offering as many sizes as possible. We work hard to make clothing in fits that our customers will love and feel comfortable in, so if we fall short of that, we absolutely take it seriously. I will be sure to share your feedback about this with the appropriate teams. If you're ever in need of assistance with finding the right fit, our ModStylists are always happy to assist. You can reach them here: https://modcloth.com/pages/modstylists. You can absolutely still review your products, either through the email that is sent after you order, or through the product pages themselves on the website. I will certainly share your words with the appropriate teams.
I'd give this site 5/5 but along with other reviews here, I do have to say that buyer beware. Read the details & reviews of the products you want to get. This has helped me avoid the hassle of having to returning anything for the most part. I've only had to return an item once. Their return policy is easy & free. Their customer service has always been great. I get all my questions answered.
When it comes to their pricing, I feel that sometimes a certain product is overpriced. So I just avoid purchasing it all together.
My order hasn't even been processed for shipping yet and i already hate this shopping experience. I placed an order and 12 hours later received an email that there was a super sale so logged on to see if they would credit me the $4 -- 4! -- difference. The agents are pleasant to talk to, but the only thing they say is "no, we can't help you. Super sorry about it! =(". She was not the first agent i talked to regarding the order and i unfortunately think she won't be the last. I hope when i receive the items that nothing works and they get to pay for me to return them. This has been a supremely terrible experience and there are not enough overpriced cute clothes in the world to make me a returning customer.
Hi there! I'm so sorry for any disappointment! When it comes to retroactive discounts, it's more of a system limitation. I am so sorry again. As we continue to improve our processes and policies, please know we take this type of feedback into account. I've shared it with our Care Team. We can do better, and that starts with taking this review to heart. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to email us at support@modcloth.com.
I bought a sweater and two dresses there that I love, so it's not the products I have an issue with - it's the business practices. Customer service is impossible to get in touch with (Very long hold times, closed for lengthy holidays, and not available on the weekends when most working people have time to handle these things) so no way to get questions answered. And the return policy of 28 days is completely insufficient. Also, they measure that very specifically - from the time they ship out the item (it took 10 days for me to receive it once shipped so there's 10 days lost) to the time they receive it (we don't have control over shipping times which are obviously quite delayed these days). Their policies show disrespect for their customers and I've decided not to shop there again.
Hi, Amanda. I'm very sorry for any disappointment with your recent experience with us. Our Customer Care team is a small group, so there can be wait times for getting in touch with them. Please rest assured that they are always working very hard to get responses to everyone, as quickly as they are able. I apologize for any disappointment regarding our return policy. I understand your frustration, and I will certainly share your feedback with the appropriate teams.
A friend of mine told me about this site - she uses it all of the time, for dresses mostly. She will order 3 dresses and when they arrive, she tries them on and usually keeps one, maybe two, then returns the other(s). It's so easy to do, it's a very trustworthy site. It can be a little bit pricey on some items, but most are good quality pieces.
My experience with Modcloth has been fantastic. I've placed about 5 large orders with them so far. Nothing's been late, nothing's gotten messed up. Returning the items I didn't want was a breeze. And the clothes, how I love them! Quirky, unique, interesting - all the kind of stuff I can't find at Macy's or Kohl's that's for sure. The nearest rival is anthropologie, who is obviously catering to a much more rich, upscale crowd than Modcloth. For those of us in the middle, who want a little more, Modcloth is a godsend.
I've ordered three dresses from Modcloth. All were surprisingly low quality for the price I paid. Cheap fabric, buttons falling off, hanging threads all over. Cheap quality dresses never look as nice on you as they do in the promo picture.
Sizing is also hit or miss with Modcloth. One dress was marked 'runs small' so I ordered up a size and it was still too small. Another said it runs true to size, but I could barely squeeze into it.
ModCloth is tempting, but not worth it!
Beautiful, fun, flirty, fabulous, one of a kind, excellent quality, gift certificates, great service, fast shipping! You can create a personal account privately storing your measurements, items you love and if something you love is on sale, almost sold out or comes back in stock they will email you. They even send you little jewelry gifts in your orders!
I'm really disappointed by the dive modcloth has taken over the last year. Their customer service used to be great and is now terrible. I have been trying to return a dress for weeks. No one has answered the phone, returned my emails, or responded to their live customer chat.
Additionally, the quality and style of their clothes has gone downhill while their prices are higher than ever.
Hi, Dianne. I'm very sorry for any trouble with getting in touch with our Customer Care team. After our recent site update, the team was receiving extremely high volumes of incoming calls, chats, and emails, and doing their best to get back to everyone, as quickly as possible. I hope that you were able to get in touch, but if not, please reach out via phone at 888-495-9699, or via chat, by clicking the "M" icon at the bottom-right of any page you're browsing on the site. They are available from 9am-8pm ET, Monday-Friday.
I have not received a dress I bought almost two weeks ago. And it has just been sent from Modcloth to FedEx. Which will then get transferred to USPS. There is no way I will get my dress by Thurs, which is when I need it by. Ordering over tow weeks in advance should be more than enough time to receive an order. The story given by Modcloth is they were in the middle of a software update. They have done nothing to offer a faster shipping method or a refund so I could buy a dress elsewhere. So now I'll have no new dress for my trip. So long, Modcloth.
Does anyone remember the days when Modcloth was fast? I'd order clothes and get them within a few days. Now it's closer to two weeks by the time they process the order and ship (and I'm in NYC, pretty close to their warehouse).
The quality of their products has always been hit or miss, so I'm prepared for somewhat expensive items to arrive and look cheap, or vice versa. Overall, it seems that Modcloth has gotten too big too fast--they seem incapable of keeping up with stock (I often find that out-of-stock items linger on the site for ages, taunting me) and getting that stock to customers. My most recent order has been "in process" for days. When I asked if I could just cancel, they would not let me. Like many other customers, the items I ordered won't arrive in time for the event I ordered them for. I'll be sending them all back. I wish they'd get it together and be the efficient company they once were!
I finally pulled the trigger and ordered a haul of ModCloth items. I've been thinking about ordering form this company since 2011 but was always scared. I ordered 12 things: two pairs of shoes, 2 skirts, 1 dress, 3 sweatshirts, and 4 blouses. I ordered it on 2/3 and got my order today, 2/9, so shipping was incredibly fast. Because of my excitement I started reading some reviews and was nervous bc of the horrible reviews that were left on here. I spent a lot of money on my order so I wasn't sure what to expect. I'm not sure what people are buying or why their shipping is so slow but my things came super fast. Then of course I started trying everything on and everything fit like a glove and was beautiful high quality material. I'm not sure what everyone else is talking about but my experience was very positive. I will be ordering again. I'm so excited for my new things! I love them.
I don't know of any other site that stocks this variety of unique and adorable clothes. I have gotten some of my absolute favorite items from them. It's true that not everything they sell is amazing, but that is the case with any store. I always check to see what the clothes are made of and avoid anything polyester. They do have a fair amount of polyester clothes which are cheap and gross. If you pay attention, it's easy to find super cute high quality clothes, especially dresses. I have had absolutely no problem with returning items. Shipping is free if you order more than like $50 worth of stuff and return shipping is always free. Modcloth is by far my favorite place to shop for clothes. I love it.
I purchased a blouse that appeared nice on line. But when received, the material was very cheap and fit horribly. They don't include a return label in the packaging. I was traveling so missed the 30 day return policy, otherwise your money turns into store credit. Terrible policy! I will never recommend to anyone.
Thanks so much for the feedback, Gina! We'd be happy to take a look at your return for you and see if we have any other options! Feel free to contact us at support@modcloth.com. We look forward to hearing from you!
I used to buy a good portion of my clothes at Modcloth, which is the only reason they got 2 stars. These last few months have been so incredibly disappointing (thanks Walmart). I check almost daily to see the new things they offer, because I used to love them and buy most of my clothes there, but there's been nothing cute and original in months... It's sad and really sucks. I don't know who they turned purchasing over to, but it needs to be fixed.
I placed a large order with ModCloth, only to find that virtually nothing fit or was as described on their website. I got a partial refund and a credit. The credit hung on my account for several years - they steadfastly refused to convert it to a refund - until finally I found something that seemed like at least a distant bet to buy. Their customer service is abysmal and the quality of all but two of the 20 items I received was way below par. Avoid ModCloth at risk of losing your cash and your sanity!
Clothes this past year have been the same ugly dresses over and over again in even uglier prints. Total waste of time shopping through here anymore. They used to make super cute clothes last year. But 2018 has not been good to them. Quality and consistency have gone way down.
Answer: The quality is about 80% rubbish (based on 10 purchases and only keeping 2 items). Hardly any of the dresses are lined and they're made with very cheap fabric, they're also way more expensive than they used to be but the quality hasn't improved. The stitching is usually uneven and the cloth cuts are terrible. You have to pay to return things, and from Australia it often costs more in postage to return something than the item itself, so I wouldn't bother.
Answer: Hi, Priscilla. We do not currently send out a physical catalog. I'm sorry for any disappointment!
Answer: Hey, Leslie! No need to worry- returns are pretty easy, especially if you're in the U.S., where we can provide a free return shipping label. At this moment, we are just a little behind on getting returns processed, due to heavy volumes during our recent sales, but we're working on getting caught up, ASAP! Our Customer Care team can also always help with any returns questions you have, as well as checking on returns statuses. You can reach them from 8am-11pm EST Monday-Friday, and 8am-9pm EST Saturdays, at modcloth.com/help!
Answer: Yes, there are full cash refunds and online store credit for the returns. It is annoying, but you would go into the purchase history and there is a section to return whatever items you want. Then when you have completed that section there should be a return Label paper that you print out from your email. It is a fedex paper. The returns should be free.
Answer: Used to be great. Horrible now. Never true to size. Cheaply made from China.
Answer: Be sure to refer to the sizing chart for your size. Also keep in mind that some items are in European or Asian sizes. Be sure to read the full desription of the item to know if you need to size up or down.
Hi there, Juli. I'm very sorry to hear that the items you purchased were not exactly what was expected. We certainly strive to have top quality items, and when we fall short, it's important that we look into what may have been the cause. Please rest assured that I will share your feedback with the appropriate teams.
