I subscribed for 3 months, but my account was hacked after 3 weeks, sending awful emails to anyone whose profile I had visited. There was no way I could ever fix this, as I was now a part of the scam...(here are more photos of me, etc.). I would have to completely delete my profile and start over with new pictures and even if I did that, I was now a virus according to them. When I contacted Match, I was told by someone whose English was almost impossible to understand that Match did not give refunds, even pro-rated ones. You all can take your website and stuff it. Period.
Having used paid and free dating sites, match.com is the worst. For lots of reasons. Firstly the high number of False profiles, many profiles are cancelled by member but match.com continue to use it unless you opt to permanently delete your profile. There has been a number of law suits about fake profiles n con artists. The customer service is appalling with many people continuing to charge subscription fees, poor sign posting to delete. I cancelled my profile in 7 days and still waiting for a refund. DO NOT USE.
I joined Match a few weeks ago. Please don't be fooled into paying a monthly or any subscription fee as you still have to pay for other things on top. So many fake or old profiles. People who Match or like you rarely respond, and once you pay your daily matches dry up instantly. Don't do it.
I selected the no automatic renewal button but was changed a full price and renewed for a year. I sent two emails to customer service but never heard from them. So I contacted my credit card company who refunded my amount. Why do these sites make things so difficult?
I seriously don't understand why people give Match.com all these negative reviews. It worked pretty good for me and I met few nice girls. Yeah, it can be a hit and miss sometimes but my overall experience is pretty good. If you try online dating use sites like Match.com (or Mingle2day and eHarmony).
Match cancelled my subscription with a couple months left on it and refused to give either a refund of unused service or a reason for its cancellation. I would think this has got to violate some law, since its is arbitrary and capricious. Never again get on that site.
Waste and a vehicle from scammers. Match.com seems like a good site until you pay and really start using it. It is riddled with scam artists, probably only about 50% of the users are "real" people. You will get winks, IMs, and emails from people all over the states, but they use pictures harvested from catalog shots and stock text. When you write them, they write in broken english at best. They look like models and will try to get you to get on Yahoo messenger immediately. They will ask you questions about you and give you little information about themselves. I talked to customer service and they don't care. "DANNY M." from the nicaragua call center was little help.
What a surprise, even Match.com is a scam using an office out of the country. Maybe it was good a year ago, but not now. Don't waste your money. At least at a free site, the people are real.
This site is a scam. They trick you into signing up with the promise of 6 months free if you don't me anyone. Then they automatically bill you even tho you never met anyone. I called to get a refund and no1 answered spoke English and did not refund my money. Stay AWAY from MATCH.COM. Free sites are better. I don't even think the profiles on match are real. I give it one star only because you can't give them negative.
Angry and confused
I was a member years ago after my divorce. Rejoined last week. So far its a joke. For one thing its not cheap I paid for 1 month. There seems to be no way to block guys totally out of my age range or location. Im paying for this app so I should be able to choose who I want to contact me.
Half the profiles dont even have pictures. I have my age range as 35-49 yet a 62 yr old man 2000 miles away, 4 inches shorter than me will email me.
There seems to be no way to delete Likes.
Even POF which is free has settings so you can go in and block people outside your criteria.
So far Ive met 1 guy. I wasnt really interested but he was nice and normal.
Also there seems to be no way to get rid of the annoying video messages.
When profiles come up that you are supposed to mark like or dislike, profiles come up and I see I am way outside their age range, or the guys are out of state.
Im weeding through way more crap than I want.
Too many scammers here with fake profiles. Especially there was an expert matched me with an ugly old man! With all conflicting interests! And then they asked me if I wanted to pay extra for the expert service! Wasted my time and money here! Do not recommend this app to anyone!
In short, took someone out from their site and did not even kiss them good night because I knew I was not interested. However, she got mad at me because I did not want to go out again and after multiple hateful texts from her, I also get informed by Match.com that they are blocking my account with no refund. They won't provide me with a reason and even when they try to send links to their policies, they won't open. I find it humorous that Match claims to have some more concerns for their customers welfare and yet, they allow a scorned person to have so much control.
Been using Match.com a while now paying and before i signed up i got like 5 winks and soon as i payed and joined i now lucky to get 1 view a day!
I have not had a single date off the website even though i've been using it over a year! The only women who do talk seem to be moody or stuck up for some reason, yet other free sites ive used I've had multiple dates and met my Ex's off them so waste of money and full of fakes...
I cancelled my auto-renewal on Match and then telephoned for confirmation that this had been actioned. The 'customer services' advisor offered me a 50% discount if I renewed. I accepted only to find that they debited my credit card by the full amount. When I noticed the debit, around 4 weeks later, I immediately phoned to complain. Match refused to refund the difference saying that they never offered me that discount. I asked for a transcript of the telephone call but they said they no longer had the original recording. I contacted my Credit card provide who indemnified my loss and I have now reported Match to my MP. I urge all dissatisfied members to lobby their MP in order that action be taken against this corrupt, unethical organisation.
How does one receive an actual refund? I joined & cancelled all within 3 minutes. I received several email confirmations regarding same and yet, after speaking to several reps, it became apparent the only way to refund is for me to dispute through VISA.
I am furious at discovering Match has taken 4 payments of £29.99 (1 each month since January) despite my having gone through the advised channels to cancel it. They can see that I have not used this service and denying a refund. Apparently, I ticked yes for a 'Free boost' which reactivated it. I don't even know what this is. Very evidently however, it IS NOT FREE. It's such a lot of money that I don't have at the moment and I cannot believe that this scummy company is so unethical. I'll be seeking to ensure that more people boycott this terrible company. Katie
March 2020, I have been seeing the same people I skip, over and over again. I keep getting profiles from other states that I can't filter out. I have come to believe that most of the profiles are never deleted and just milled through the site to make it look like there are more choices than there are. I am now dealing with a virus every time I open a profile and it has gone on for over three days. Sent email to them and no response or change. This site is a rip off and dishonest about quality and quantity of its membership.
I decided to give online dating a go and this site has put me off for life.
Firstly, I thought I was paying the three month subscription over three months, but on checking my bank account they took the whole amount of £76.00 which is not clear when signing up.
I have been on the site for nearly a week and had two messages, that doesn't include all the messages that Match have bombarded me with.
I have cancelled the automatic renewal but will cancel my card as well to safe-guard myself.
All-in-all a waste of money and my time.
Cancelled my subscription prior to expiry but was charged for 6 months even though I could not log in or access my profile. Attempted to reach customer service numerous times unsuccessfully. Had to cancel my credit card as not to continue to be automatically billed. Will never join this site again nor do I recommend anyone else to join. Greedy, unethical company.
Wow! I'm not married and somebody falsely alleged that I'm married and they (match.com-customer-service) terminated my account. Actually, I think this is weird... Unfortunately, just signed up for another 6 months. Hope they reinstate my account but I'll NEVER do business with this company again. PS: Although, I met some good women on match but the customer service sucks b'cos they could have investigated the false allegation before closing my account - That's RUDE especially to a paying customer. PS: They never do refund so if they chose not to reactivate my account, I'm duped for almost 120$ - SAD :(
Don't waste your money. It's a gimmick. The site is full of scammers and Match puts their members at risk for being hacked and having their financial accounts compromised by these scammers. Match does nothing about it, yet it is easy to recognize a scammer's profile if you have been on for a bit.
There should be a law suit against them. They own OK Cupid and Our Time and situation on those sites is the same. Match should hang it's corporate head in shame.
Answer: I was unable to get a refund but I dispute the transaction and got my money back that way. I said it was because they were not providing the service they claim to offer. If you can dispute with your bank just tell them you didn't authorize the transaction and the company refuses to refund you. Good luck.
Answer: No I would not trust it. There are scammers on there. They will tell you want you want to here. They are from another country. Look for key words such as widoer, contractor, travel, one child only. They will compliment you right off the bat about your smile. Not safe. Try another site.
Answer: Back in the 1980s, strip clubs were pulling all sorts of over charge and fake charge scams and forcing people tp pay. Here in Atlanta a majpr federal case against the GOLD CLUB brought all that to light and alot of changes were made in the industry... I BRING THAT UP BECAUSE... these social sites seem to be attempting the same types of scams and are getting away with it. By U.S. fedeal standars ALL THESE SITES FALL UNDER THE RACKETEERING STATUTE. Unfortunately there is NO enforcement of these laws at this time. Your best option is to dispute the entire charge with your credit card. They may not want to do this because they are seeing so much of it. BE FIRM AND INSIST IT IS A MATTER OF CREDIT FRAUD. Also be sure to indicate that you are filling a consumer notice with the Federal Trade Commision (they have online forms for this to keep a numbers count on how many people are affected by these sorts of things. www.FTC.org). If you have been a good card holder, you shouldnt have any issues except for 1: ALL THESE SITES ARE NOTORIOUS FOR REBILLING/DRAFTING YOUR CREDIT ACCOUNT. You may want to file a COMPROMISED CREDIT CARD CLAIM AT THE TIME OF THE DISPUTE and have your card issuer SEND YOU A REPLACEMENT CARD WITH A NEW CARD NUMBER.
Answer: You will have a hard time getting your money back Terri. The first time I was with them years ago, I forgot the auto renewal and tried to get my money back and they fought me tooth and nail. This time I tried both Ourtime and Match and both experiences were not good though Ourtime was a bit better. I agree with some of the answers here that Match baits you toward the end of your subscription with possible contacts, but since I cannot proof that I have to add that disclaimer. Everything you have run into with your experience I have had with mine.
Answer: You likely signed up for auto-renewal, which Match.com doesn't explicitly tell you out-right that it will auto-renew. You will not likely get a refund back for the month they charged you. However, go to your account's settings and cancel the feature ASAP. You will still have access for the month in question, but at least you will have stopped future withdrawals.
Answer: Give them a call... they always have something to scam people about...
Answer: Cancel the card you used when you joined.
Answer: That is an extra fare item and they charge you each time. Best to do your own searches and replies...
Answer: Too much don't do it!
Answer: I feel the same way Teresa, i have been on the site for 1 year now and cancelled my subscription, but was told it won't officially cancel until May because i waited to late after my initial sign up day, so i got stuck with another year. I am a handsome guy with a lot to offer, but for some reason never really got emails as i expected, i started to think the people profiles were fake or the women i was interested in didn't know a good man if his profiled slapped them in the face, just sayN. 41, recently divorced for little over a year, highly educated, working in my profession, make close to six figures, single, don't cheat, great personality, smart, don't play, and real down to earth... but i guess no one believed it or didn't like my handsome picks... IDK. Confused!
